Does anyone know if there is any decent material out there examining the differences in psychological and emotional make up between serial and spree killers? Material on the differences in sociological profiles between the two groups would be appreciated as well.

Perhaps ~ Serial Killers are more clever and cunning !

Spree killers, may be acting more on spur of the moment action ( with some planning to have the method )

How do you define serial killers such as bomber harris and Churchill or the dropping of the Jewish atomic bomb .
you then have to look at the motivation force for the Russian japanese war,
the bolshevik war both Adam schiff -the first world war and second and Iraq and lybian and Syrian the Jewish Russian oligarch war of 1990s etc etc etc.
the motivational force for the mass killing of approx 180 million people over a century is never spoken about and these people never appeared at nurenburg or any other nurenburg and were held up as pillars of society and newspapers and media gave then free rein to do as they wished -
-do you include the media in the serial killing of course you must if they could have ended it .
so therefore the greatest most evil mass killers are the most respectable amongst us .

I would say a difference is sexual motive

Spree killers don't usually have sex with their victims

I looked at this before years back, sorry but I do not have references to such anymore. But one of the things that came up regards the 70's onwards regards such coming out of the US afterwards in terms of media, hollywood movies etc.. after the fact, was due to the CIA and military development of torture and heinous crimes directed in the vietnam war. An awful lot of such was generated due to that war of said people coming back and ended up let lose on the public.

Every single one of the men above was trained by the US armed forces - both physically and psychologically - to kill. Every single one fought in Vietnam. Every single one killed multiple times on their return.

While it’s true that some of the Vietnam vets may have had a ‘killer instinct’ and been tempted by the notion of a state-sanctioned licence to kill, many told police when apprehended that their crimes were the result of their experiences during combat. It’s arguable, of course, that this is merely a useful excuse. The points stands, however, that they each took on board some pretty heavy education in the ‘art’ of murder. Learning not only how to kill, but how not to care.

The media then has a copy cat regurgitation of such effect, especially in a sick society which we have been in since even before i was born in many ways. Guard your eyes, as the bible says, the most important general message that the bible has to teach bar none, as far as I am concerned.
