Thinking about the whole Shiloh Hendrix drama I wonder how much concerns about racism or "racism" are not to do with issues around bourgeois civility as opposed to anything more essential.

I am not sure that I can go along sure I can go along with this essentially (savage?) Prod notion that authenicity at all times is a virtue in and of itself. Sometimes it is best to bite one's lip and put on a mask of politeness, a lot of the time maybe in fact. At the same time I would not place bourgeois civility on the pedestal that some people seem to be placing it on in the hierarchy of value.

I do not think Tommy is "real" as you put it but I do think that one of the major forces behind his mass appeal is that he does appear as authentic to a lot of people. I think actually one of the reasons that people like Jordan Peterson and his wife "ooohh" and "aaahh" over Tommy is that see in him an embodiment of honest proletarian authenticity who through his Parisfal like purity demolishes the conniving and japery of his bourgeois supposed betters. And he knows how to successfully sell himself as this Brechtian character- but this salesmanship of a spectacle is both the very petty-bourgeois and inherently inauthentic.
