Bill Gates has called for a “strategic pivot” in the effort against the climate crisis, writing that the world should shift away from trying to limit rising temperatures to instead focusing on efforts to prevent disease and poverty.
Writing on his Gates Notes website, the billionaire Microsoft co-founder criticized what he described as a “doomsday view of climate change” which is focusing “too much on near-term emissions goals”.

Gates’s memo comes a day after the UN said humanity had missed its target of limiting global heating to 1.5C, with the UN secretary general warning of “devastating consequences” for the world.

I think there is more to it than that. Billy Boy and his buddies want huge data centres to keep tabs on everything and everyone. Handling and storing all that information requires massive amounts of energy, it can't happen if only renewables are relied upon.

The smart guys knew that the renewable energy is a dud as currently setup.

The event planners, in their infinite wisdom, decided to chop down an estimated 70,000 trees in a protected swath of the rainforest to build a shiny new highway. Why? To shuttle the 50,000 attendees - politicians, NGOs, and corporate greenwashers - from the local airport to the venue in record time. Because nothing says “save the planet” like deforestation on steroids to accommodate gas-guzzling limos and private jets.

If ya did this in a spoof comedy, they'd say you were going too far !
 
I see that the two old dinosaurs John Kerry and his knibs Charlie Boy the third, have been busy rimming each other this week with the yank being given an honoury knighthood for his work on climate change.

Kerry has of course raked in billions from energy investments while Charlie owns vast swaths of the British countryside which is presently being submerged in subsidised solar farms and windmills. Funnily enough, none of this was mentioned in news of the happy lovefest!
