Created as a better alternative to the mainboards thread, which is a patent shitshow that is poorly and overtly moderated (for the benefit of the site's worst poster, a likely Kiddy Diddler and apparent corpse fetishizer) by a rolling-win-waving menopausal librarian whom I imagine keeps her left eye in a glass of cold black tea on the bedside table and is probably this very minute scrubbing clean a skillet with some pestled herbs garnered from a crack in the pavement somewhere and the porcine bristles of her pursed upper lip. If life was about being dictated to by such creatures...who would even want it?

Focus will be changes in conquered or retaken territory primarily, with opinion pieces and news articles taking a back seat, as these have no meaning until such a point as they are manifested in some material sense anyway, and when this does occur, they are represented visually on maps and in the form of footage. In essence, this thread will focus almost exclusively on the changes that matter. Since I'll be cleaving the fat, the rate of posts will be lower than Ukraine thread. They will, however, be better.

Feel free to comment as you wish. Enjoy.

About 'Western munition superiority'.

We have heard a fair amount of talk about HIMARS being supplied to Ukraine, and how Russia has nothing comparable to them. But is this really accurate? The answer is no. What Russia possesses as a countermeasure to HIMARS are these:

1695333478261.png

What you're looking at is the Tornado-S precison missile delivery system. Unlike previous generations of similar systems, which relied on laser guidance, the S utilises Glonass guidance. What is Glonass? It's essentially Russia's version of GPS--or more accurately, an alternative to it:

GLONASS (ГЛОНАСС, IPA: [ɡɫɐˈnas]; Russian: Глобальная навигационная спутниковая система, tr. Global'naya Navigatsionnaya Sputnikovaya Sistema, lit. 'Global Navigation Satellite System') is a Russian satellite navigation system operating as part of a radionavigation-satellite service. It provides an alternative to Global Positioning System (GPS) and is the second navigational system in operation with global coverage and of comparable precision.

Satellite navigation devices supporting both GPS and GLONASS have more satellites available, meaning positions can be fixed more quickly and accurately, especially in built-up areas where buildings may obscure the view to some satellites.[1][2][3] GLONASS supplementation of GPS systems also improves positioning in high latitudes (north or south).[4]

Previous generations of Tornados were not up to snuff, comparably, with HIMARS. But the S systems make up a lot of ground. This is because HIMARS have a range of accuracy of between 5-7 meters, whilst the Tornado boasts an accuracy of range of within 1M. The effective fire range of a HIMAR utilizing ATACMS is reportedly 300KMS. This is significantly longer than the range of the S at around 120KM. However, Ukraine will not be receiving ATACMS munitions as this is the bleeding edge of Lockheed Tech, is extremely expensive, and it's highly unlikely that the US wants to risk it falling into Russian hands.

How effective has the S system been so far in Ukraine? Very, actually. They are still not quite as good as US ATACMS delivered by MLRS, but they're still far as good, or better, than anything in the hands of AFU.

Some footage of S-Tornados in action.

I know this could be viewed as an opinion piece, but interesting observation all the same.

This kind of tracks with what we see in map updates. Sporadic gains which have no meaning and are very small, the only real successes coming from AFU resulting from terrorism and guerilla warfare and the occasional HIMAR strike on a command centre somewhere.

Russia is now alledging that they just detsroyed a leopard tank that was crewed by Germans. German military that is, which would mean that NATO troops are fighting in Ukraine. They say they have proof. This is a pretty major escalation if indeed it is true.

LUGANSK, September 23 – RIA Novosti. Scouts of the Russian Armed Forces destroyed a Leopard tank transferred to Ukraine with an entirely German crew consisting of military personnel of the German Armed Forces, the commander of a reconnaissance group operating in the Zaporozhye direction, with the call sign Legend, told RIA Novosti.
"
“When we stopped their next “meat assault” and captured (destroyed with the help of ATGMs. - Ed.) Leopard, we moved towards the burnt equipment in the hope of taking the tongue. And we found that the tank driver was seriously wounded, and the rest died. The mechanic, when he woke up and saw us, began shouting “nicht shissen” (don’t shoot. - Ed.)," said the group commander.
The legend emphasized that he knows German well.
"
“(The driver of the damaged tank - Ed.) said several times that he was not a mercenary, but a Bundeswehr soldier and the entire crew from one company,” the soldier added.

Total amount of Aid given to Ukraine thus far. Totals 322B$. Broken down by country.

1695524841473.png

Amid the news about possible cuts in military aid to the AFU due to the grain dispute with Poland and because of disputes over the national debt in the US, we decided to calculate how much money has already been spent to help Ukraine.

The total amount of military, humanitarian and financial aid from February 2022 to September 2023 amounted to $322.8 billion.

The top three donor countries to the Ukrainian armed forces were expectedly the United States (106.8 billion), Germany (23.1 billion) and the United Kingdom (15.2 billion).

The figures given in the infographic do not take into account the costs of refugees, so the final amount will be significantly higher.

For comparison, in 2022, Ukraine's defense budget according to the Ministry of Finance was $42.9 billion (59% of total budget expenditures). And in 2023 - 45, 4 billion dollars (55% of the budget).
