Beginning to look as the invasion of Russia was a big move stake, a last roll for f the democrats ce, that has now failed. September is not going to be good for Ukraine

Sure, but on the other hand Russia's going to be in for major attacks by the look of it. They may gain control of the battlefields and have success in beating back the wukrainians but on the back of that success we may not fool ourselves that the troubles are over - As Kangal delights in showing, major structural damage from Nato backed sources within Russia are a daily occurrence and may yet increase to unknown levels of destruction .

At this point in this murderous evil destruction of Ukraine its people and everything else.
Enormous destruction in Russia in a similar fashion.
You would think that any major provocation/carnage within Central Russia.
The response won't be visited on Kiev alone.
Someday soon that might be the scenario we wake up to.
Western Europe most likely the UK learning the consequences of overreaching.

As I said before this always about Russia trying to take Ukraines gas and mineral wealth.
Certainly, I said the same myself. Little doubt that Russia will not allow Western Corp's to dominate their back yard with offensive armies so that Eukrainian reserves are plundered for the west's profit & consumption while the ethnic population is driven off or bombed out of town as was happening.

That wealth belonged to Ukraine and certainly now the Eukrainians will be sure to keep it under their control - The Wukrainians will be at peace again some day and then will be able to get their supplies at a fair price so, it's not so bad, is it?

You are trying to pigeon hole Russia in the same box as FF's Ireland - Just give all the resources away for f**k all??

ETA: No, not for "f**K all" - but for the locals to pay double to international investors for the privilege of them supplying our gas back to us.
Paadee economics?? The Eukrainians won't do that, they'd be mad.

Russia is in a far better position to absorb whatever the west has left to throw at it. But if it comes to that sort of firefight then it’s simple hatred and vengeance from the west rather than any principled action in defence of democracy.

Ukrainian strike obliterates civilian car in Belgorod (VIDEOS)

Dashcam footage has captured the moment a suspected cluster munition hit a passenger vehicle

The deadly Ukrainian shelling of the Russian city of Belgorod on Friday was recorded in multiple videos, with one disturbing dashcam clip showing the exact moment a projectile struck a civilian car, ripping it apart.
Belgorod and its suburbs were hit by missile strikes using cluster munitions on Friday evening, killing at least five people and injuring over three dozen, according to officials.
The devastating attack was captured on a dashboard camera as a passing car came under direct fire. The driver was killed instantly, while the passenger reportedly managed to survive with severe burns.

More blasts are visible further down the road as the driver who recorded the video escaped the scene after yet another projectile struck just meters away from his vehicle, according to the footage, which was originally shared by the Russian military blogger who goes by the name Dva Mayora.
Another dramatic video from the scene, shared by the Telegram channel SHOT, shows the chaos and destruction caused by the attack as eyewitnesses rushed to offer help and attempted to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers.

The Russian city of Belgorod is located less than 80km (50 miles) north of Kharkov, Ukraine’s second-largest city. It has endured frequent attacks from long-range Ukrainian artillery, which often fires projectiles supplied by NATO.

According to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, the latest attack was carried out using cluster munitions launched from the Vampire multiple-launch rocket system. Another video clip shared by SHOT appears to support this assessment, showing multiple blasts close together in security camera footage.

Ukrainian defense chief visits Pentagon

Politico reported earlier that Rustem Umerov would try to persuade the US to lift its restrictions on long-range strikes against Russia

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has met with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to discuss additional military aid. The visit came amid renewed requests by Kiev for Washington to lift its restrictions on the use of US-supplied weapons for long-range strikes deep inside Russia.
Earlier this week, Politico, citing anonymous sources, claimed that Umerov and Vladimir Zelensky’s chief of staff Andrey Yermak would attempt to persuade their American backers to change their minds.
On Friday, the Pentagon’s Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh announced that “Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III held bilateral talks with Ukrainian Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov today regarding Ukraine’s ongoing operations [and] security assistance priorities.”
The latter include air defense systems, artillery and armored vehicles needed to help Ukraine “build additional combat power.”

Another topic high on the officials’ agenda was the upcoming meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group on September 6. The gathering will see more than 50 of the countries which support Kiev congregate in Ramstein, Germany to deliberate over plans for more military supplies for Ukraine, in order to cover both its immediate and long-term needs.
Austin pledged to “continue to build on the strategic partnership between” the US and Ukraine, Singh concluded.
On Tuesday, Pentagon spokesman Major-General Patrick Ryder clarified that Washington’s “policy has not changed,” meaning that Ukraine is allowed to use US-supplied weapons to defend against cross-border attacks, but not for “deep strikes” into what the US recognizes as Russian territory.
Meanwhile, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Monday that Washington “will keep the conversations with the Ukrainians going [on the issue], but we are going to keep them private.”
That same day, Zelensky insisted that “there should be no restrictions on the range of weapons for Ukraine.”
Commenting on Kirby’s statement on Friday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed that it indicated that “Ukraine has been given carte blanche for operations in Russian regions.”
“The administration of
[US President] Joe Biden is obviously getting ready to make new concessions to Zelensky and give him a free hand to use virtually any type of American weapons, including [for attacks] deep into Russian territory,” the diplomat alleged, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
Her remarks echoed those made on Tuesday by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who insisted that the “West does not want to avoid escalation.”
The minister warned that Kiev’s backers would be “playing with fire” if they were to allow Ukraine to use their weapons to conduct long-range strikes deep inside Russia.

WATCH Russian missiles wipe out Ukrainian armor column – reports

Footage reportedly shows over a dozen combat vehicles targeted by Iskander and rocket artillery strikes in Ukraine’s Sumy Region

Russian forces have conducted a coordinated strike against a large gathering of Ukrainian reserve forces across the border from Russia’s Kursk Region, according to new video shared on social media by military bloggers.
Hostilities have been ongoing in the border areas of Russia’s Kursk since Kiev launched a major incursion earlier this month. While Ukrainian forces continue their attempts to push deeper into Russian territory, Moscow has sought to push them back while striking rear targets in Ukraine's adjacent Sumy Region.
On Saturday evening, a new video emerged purportedly showing one such strike targeting a column of Ukrainian reinforcements south of the city of Sumy, approximately 40 kilometers from the Russian border.

Russian surveillance reportedly discovered the enemy's rear reserves earlier in the day but decided to let them accumulate to inflict maximum possible damage, according to the Telegram channel NgP_raZVedka, which first sharedthe footage.

The strike was reportedly launched around 8pm on Saturday when up to 20 vehicles clumped together along a 600-meter stretch of road.

According to the surveillance drone footage, Russian forces conducted a combined strike, first hitting the column with two ballistic missiles, presumably Iskanders, equipped with cluster and high-explosive fragmentation warheads. Following that, the Ukrainian forces were apparently pounded by a salvo from a multiple launch rocket system.
The Defense Ministry has yet to officially confirm the latest strike. However, on Saturday morning, the Russian military reported the destruction of a “large warehouse with rocket and artillery weapons”in the same area.
In a video released by the Russian military, it was stated that the location was struck by a ballistic missile launched from an Iskander-M system, with the military claiming that surveillance confirmed “prolonged repeated detonations” at the facility and its subsequent “complete burnout.”

Kiev should not expect more long-range missiles from US – CNN

The Pentagon has a “finite number” of ATACMS in stock and cannot quickly produce more, a US official told the channel
Kiev should not expect more long-range missiles from US – CNN

Washington has made it “clear”that it cannot provide Kiev with any significant number of MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) in the foreseeable future, CNN reported on Saturday, citing an unnamed US official.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at the Pentagon this week to discuss additional military aid. During the meeting he reportedly presented him with a list of “high-value” targets that Kiev would like to strike, deep inside Russia, using American-made weapons.
In an interview with CNN after the meeting, Umerov claimed that Ukraine is pushing to lift the ATACMS restrictions for “self-defense,” arguing that “the airfields being used to hit our cities are within the range of deep strikes.”
Pentagon rejects Zelensky’s latest weapons plea READ MORE: Pentagon rejects Zelensky’s latest weapons plea
However, a US defense official toldthe channel that many of the targets on Ukraine’s wish list are in fact outside the missile’s range, as Moscow has relocated its high-value assets away from the front.
The US has also “made it clear that Kiev should not expect another significant delivery of ATACMS due to the finite number in US inventories and the long production time of the weapon,”CNN wrote, citing the source. The official noted that Ukraine has so far received a very “limited” supply of these missiles.
The US government seemingly drew the line on deep strikes into Russia after one of its ATACMS rockets, armed with a cluster warhead, struck a Crimean beach in early June. Moscow accused Washington of enabling that and other acts of “terrorism”against civilians, and suggested it might arm “states and entities”around the world that are hostile to the US in response.

Pentagon spokesman Major General Patrick Ryder clarified on Tuesday that Washington’s “policy has not changed,” meaning that Ukraine is allowed to use US-supplied weapons to defend against cross-border attacks but not for “deep strikes” into what the US recognizes as Russian territory. However, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Monday that Washington “will keep the conversations with the Ukrainians going.”
Moscow has warned that any talk of using long-range missiles to strike Russian territory is highly dangerous.
“This is blackmail, it is an attempt to create an impression that the West wants to avoid excessive escalation, but in fact this is a ruse,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a press conference on Tuesday. “The West does not want to avoid escalation. The West is asking for trouble, to put it bluntly. I reckon that this is already obvious to everyone.”

Polish PM threatens to block Ukraine’s EU bid

Kiev must resolve the Volyn massacre issue to get Warsaw’s support for its EU accession bid, Polish PM Donald Tusk says

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has threatened to block Ukraine’s bid to join the EU unless it bends to Warsaw’s demands on the WW2-era Volyn massacre, a mass killing of Poles by Ukrainian nationalists.
Tusk made the pledge in the wake of a massive political scandal rocking Poland in the aftermath of a disastrous visit by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, who made multiple highly-controversial statements on the history of Poles and Ukrainians.
“Ukrainians, with all our respect and our support for their military effort, must realize that joining the EU is also joining a political and historical culture. So, until there is respect for these standards on the part of Ukraine, Ukraine will not become a member of the European family,” Tusk stated.
The PM condemned the remarks made by Kuleba, describing his assessment of the controversial statements as “unequivocally negative.” “Ukraine, one way or another, will have to meet Poland’s expectations,” Tusk stressed.
Kuleba delivered his ill-advised remarks on Wednesday while speaking in the northern Polish city of Olsztyn. While promising not to oppose exhumations to help understand the Volyn massacre, the diplomat urged the two nations to “leave history to historians” and not to dig up “the bad things that the Poles did to Ukrainians and Ukrainians to Poles.”
Ukrainian FM blames West for frontline failures READ MORE: Ukrainian FM blames West for frontline failures
At least 60,000 ethnic Poles were killed between 1943 and 1944 in the historical regions of Volhynia and Eastern Galicia, which currently belong to Ukraine, by militants with the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) and the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). Some historians estimate that the toll is even higher, suggesting the massacre had up to 120,000 victims. While Warsaw has recognized the massacre as a genocide of Poles, modern Ukraine has been celebrating the perpetrators behind it as “freedom fighters” and “national heroes.”
Kuleba also invoked the 1947 Operation Vistula, a forced resettlement of Ukrainians from southeastern Poland to the west of the country. The controversial action was aimed at the destruction of local UPA holdouts, as the resettlement deprived them of the support of the locals. Some 140,000 people were deported during the operation and became scattered in the west of the country.
The visiting foreign minister said Kiev has its own demands of Polish authorities, such as respecting the “memory of Ukrainians” who had been forcibly expelled from Ukrainian territories. The remark received an extremely poor reception in the host country, as some perceived it as a thinly veiled hint at potential territorial demands. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry had to step in, insisting its boss never meant it like that, merely describing the region where a “compact Ukrainian community” has been living before the deportation as the “Ukrainian territory.”

Serbian President Vucic: I did not come here to lie. You want me to say that we will be part of the EU in 2028, but we will not. It will all be over, we will see each other in four years, and what should I tell you? It will not happen. I do not deceive my people. I will not lie to anyone. You will ask me whether the Ukrainians will win. Let's say I say "yes". But will it really happen? I doubt it. And no one is talking about it openly. I have my own brains, I say what I think. We are on the way to the EU. We traditionally have excellent relations with Russia, we do not hide it, I am not ashamed of it. It has always been like this between the Serbs and the Russians. And we are the only country in Europe that has not imposed any sanctions against Russia. I say this openly, I am not afraid.

EU’s tussle with Russia is ‘at behest of US’ – Kremlin

Aggressive anti-Russia policies will ultimately cost European countries dearly, Dmitry Peskov has warned

The EU will pay a high price for confronting Russia on the orders of Washington, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has said.
During an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin that aired on Russia 1 channel on Sunday, Peskov was asked to comment on the escalatory rhetoric recently coming from the West, including discussions about allowing Ukraine to use foreign weapons to strike deep into Russian territory, as well as the verbal backing by Washington and Brussels of Kiev forces’ ongoing incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region.
Peskov recalled the statement made by EU foreign policy commissioner Josep Borrell, who said mid-August that Ukraine had the bloc’s “full support” for its Kursk offensive. Borrell is a diplomat but he “acts like a defense minister and a hawk,” the press secretary said in the interview.
“The European countries, led by the US, are in a confrontational ecstasy. They are playing the role assigned to them by Washington in this whole story, to the detriment of their own interests and the wallets of their taxpayers,” the spokesman emphasized, referring to over $121 billion in financial and military aid provided by the EU to Kiev since the escalation with Moscow in February 2022.

The involvement in the conflict will “have profound consequences for [the EU]. It is inevitable and, over the coming decade, we will witness these negative consequences,” he told Russia 1.
But if the West goes too far in its standoff with Russia over Ukraine, “knowing the determination of our president [Vladimir Putin], knowing the potential of our country, which has turned out to be even greater than we expected, as evidenced by the pace of economic development and the military mobilization of our economy, I have no doubt that, if necessary, everything will be done to protect our interests,” Peskov said.
The response by Moscow in this case would be “effective and one that is demanded by our national interests,” he added, without revealing any further details.
Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has resumed his calls for the country’s Western backers to allow long-range strikes on Russian territory during Kiev’s ongoing incursion into Kursk Region. However, he has not yet received approval.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said on Sunday that Ukraine has lost more than 8,500 troops and several hundred units of military equipment, including 80 tanks and 69 armored personnel carriers, since the start of its attack on internationally recognized Russian territory on August 6. “The operation to destroy the Ukrainian unit Armed Forces formations continues” in Kursk Region, the ministry stressed.

Ukrainian F-16 crash ‘probably’ not friendly fire – NYT

Two senior US military officials and other sources now insist it is “far too soon to speculate”
Ukrainian F-16 crash ‘probably’ not friendly fire – NYT

Ukraine lost its first Western-supplied F-16 fighter jet last week but has yet to name an official cause of the incident, fueling speculation that the US-made aircraft may have been shot down by friendly fire from a Patriot air defense system.
The plane crashed last Monday, killing one of Ukraine’s best pilots, Aleksey ‘Moonfish’ Mes. Kiev did not admit the loss until Thursday, stating only that the incident was under investigation. Ukrainian MP Mariana Bezuglaya claimed that Mes had been shot down by one of Ukraine’s Western-donated Patriot systems. Following the incident, Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky fired his Air Force chief without explanation.
An unnamed Western official allegedly briefed on the preliminary investigation confirmed to the NYT on Friday that there were indications the jet might have been brought down by friendly fire from a Patriot battery.
Zelensky fires Air Force chief after F-16 loss READ MORE: Zelensky fires Air Force chief after F-16 loss
However, in a reversal on Saturday, “two senior US military officials” told the newspaper that the cause of the F-16 crash “was probably not friendly fire.” The sources added that American and Ukrainian investigators were exploring other possibilities, such as mechanical failure or pilot error.
When asked on Thursday if there was “any chance that this F-16 was brought down by friendly fire from one of the Ukrainian Patriot missiles,” Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh responded that the “United States has not been asked to participate in any investigation into this incident.”
The NYT also cited unnamed Ukrainian military analysts who claimed that Western air defenses and F-16s have been tested together in “complex conditions,” but noted that it was “far too soon to speculate.”

Last Monday, Russia conducted a “massive high-precision attack” using long-range air- and sea-based weapons and drones, targeting energy facilities crucial to Ukraine’s defense industrial complex, as well as several airfields storing Western-supplied munitions.
Official statements from Kiev indicated that Mes died during an air defense sortie in which he shot down three Russian cruise missiles and one attack drone. The Ukrainian Air Force stated that at the time, besides the Patriots, Kiev also deployed multiple other air defense systems, including mobile groups with Stinger missiles and British Starstreak missiles.
A handful of the US-made aircraft were delivered to Ukraine earlier this month. The US has not promised any of its own F-16s to Ukraine but has permitted other NATO members to send theirs. A “coalition” of European countries promised Kiev over 80 planes but has so far delivered fewer than a dozen.
READ MORE: Ukrainian MP claims F-16 was downed by Patriot
Washington also expects its NATO allies in Europe to take responsibility for servicing the US-designed jets, as, according to the Wall Street Journal, the administration of US President Joe Biden has rejected a Pentagon plan to send American contractors to Ukraine out of fear they could be targeted by Russian forces.
A Russian company has offered a reward of 15 million rubles ($170,000) to whoever shoots down the first F-16 in combat. No one has stepped forward to claim the reward so far.
