IT is disgusting how our Irish media do not mention how Elon Musk stopped a European nuclear event /explosion by switching off star link when he heard of ukraines plan to detonate a nuclear power station .
they complained as did the nut jobs in England and America and stated no individual should have the power to stop what the insane Ukrainians were going to do .
this would have qualified as the first use of a nuclear weapon against the Russians and would have guaranteed a nuclear response .
Elon Musk just saved the world and the disgusting fuckers in our media have said nothing.
Bought media.Write whatever they are told to.

Do us a favour.
Less of the cheering and gloating.
People Are being killed in huge number.
Doesn't reflect well.
If the Kangalese pedophile is allowed away with it, is good enough for me.
Although I do have the nonce on ignore now so maybe it copped on.
Pity I have to continually post full stops to keep the thread on my feed though, bit of a pain having to go into my profile to find my last post on the Uki thread every time that idiot posts and the thread disappears.
Still, minor inconveniences...... :)

Ukrainian MP claims kidnappers targeted his family over pro-church stance

Artyom Dmitruk reportedly fled the country over what he calls fabricated criminal charges and threats against his life

Ukrainian MP Artyom Dmitruk has claimed from exile that he is a victim of political persecution due to his support for the largest Christian church in the country. Kiev has accused him of violent crimes and illegally crossing the country’s border.
Last week, Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky signed a bill into law which threatens to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), over allegations that it may be controlled by Moscow. Dmitruk stood out among his fellow lawmakers for his vocal opposition to the legislation. He is now considered a fugitive in Ukraine and says his family is in danger.
”They tried to abduct my family. They tried to kidnap my mother, wife and two small kids from a hotel in Europe,” the MP claimed on his Telegram channel on Monday. Dmitruk said private security had thwarted the plot and that he knows who was behind it.
Last week, Ukrainian authorities announced criminal charges against an unnamed MP. He was accused of assaulting two people – a law enforcement officer and a military service member. Separately, they announced a criminal investigation into alleged illegal crossing of the border by the same person. Dmitruk is understood to be the suspect, according to Ukrainian media.

The lawmaker is a professional powerlifter and entrepreneur who runs fitness clubs in the city of Odessa. He went into politics in 2019 on the wave of Zelensky’s surprise presidential campaign, getting elected as an MP for his Servant of the People party.
Dmitruk dismissed the allegations against him as fabricated for political reasons. One of the charges is apparently related to a conflict he had last year with what he called a scam call center.
The politician claims that Zelensky’s office is after him over his support of the UOC. The church has been subjected to law enforcement raids on its monasteries, arrests of senior bishops and the seizure of property by supporters of the rival Kiev-backed Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
Last week, armed men showed up at various properties associated with Dmitruk and his family, he told his attorney Robert Amsterdam, who voiced his client’s criticism of Kiev’s infringement of religious freedoms.

Dmitruk has alleged that his foes intended to have him killed while supposedly resisting arrest. His current whereabouts are unclear, with Tatryana Sapyan, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian investigative agency DBR, claiming on Sunday that he had fled the country via Moldova.

Some 15 Interpol member states have joined Russia’s efforts to find and extradite Yaroslav Hunka, the Waffen-SS veteran honored by Canada’s parliament last year, the Russian Interior Ministry announced on Monday.
The 99-year-old Hunka made headlines when he appeared in the Canadian parliament as a guest during a visit by Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky last year. Hunka, whose Waffen-SS unit carried out atrocities against Jews and Poles on the Eastern Front during World War II, received a standing ovation, for which Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was later forced to apologize.
After trying to extradite Hunka, the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office announced last week that the Ukrainian-Canadian Nazi had finally been added to Interpol’s database, and that Moscow will seek his extradition if he left Canada.
As of Monday, 15 Interpol member states have agreed to arrest Hunka if he enters their territory, the Russian Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Russia vows to keep pushing for Nazi veteran’s extradition

“All war criminals who committed bloody atrocities against civilians will receive the punishment they deserve,” the ministry said. “After all, there is no statute of limitations for such crimes.”
Hunka was a member of the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS, also known as the Galicia Division. Formed by the Nazi regime in 1943, the Galicia Division was made up primarily of Ukrainian recruits from the eponymous region, in what is now western Ukraine and eastern Poland.
Russia has accused Hunka of involvement in the murder of at least 500 Soviet citizens.
Before receiving a standing ovation last year, Hunka was introduced to Canadian lawmakers by House Speaker Anthony Rota as “a Ukrainian hero, a Canadian hero… who fought for Ukrainian independence against the Russians.”
The Russian Interior Ministry did not list all of the countries that have agreed to pursue Hunka. However, Poland has pushed for his extradition since last year, while the head of Israel’s Anti-Fascist Movement said last week that his organization has called on any “country that harbors this criminal” to turn him over.

Ukraine sets ultimatum for its citizens: ‘Either fight or work’

Kiev needs to collect more taxes to fund the war against Moscow’s troops, Prime Minister Denis Shmigal has said

The Ukrainian government needs to rely more on its own resources to cover its military expenses, so people will have to choose between being drafted into the army or working and paying all their taxes, Prime Minister Denis Shmigal has said.
Kiev has been relying on foreign aid to cover its budget, but state finances are in poor shape nevertheless. Last month, Fitch Ratings declared the country in a state of “restricted default” after Ukraine failed to repay bonds to private creditors amid tense talks on restructuring the debt.
Shmigal highlighted the government’s struggle to fill its coffers during the ‘Ukraine 2024. Independence’ forum in Kiev on Tuesday. Among other things, “we are introducing the principle ‘Either fight or work’, which provides for a number of measures to bring the labor market out of the shadows,” he told the audience.
”This point is important for increasing the number of jobs and raising average wages in various industries to generate revenues for the budget,” the prime minister added.

800,000 Ukrainian men have gone ‘underground’ – MP

The Ukrainian labor market has been hit by new mobilization rules, which the government introduced earlier this year to bolster the ranks of the military, MP Dmitry Natalukha told Financial Times earlier this month. He has advocated for a reform that would allow employers to protect 50% of their workers from being mobilized by making monthly payments to the state.
Natalukha estimates that some 800,000 Ukrainian men have “gone underground” for the purpose of avoiding the draft. Many are participating in the workforce without declaring their employment – which means their wages generate no taxes and do not draw unwanted attention from conscription officers.
Other ways in which Shmigal’s government intends to cover expenses include borrowing on the domestic market, taxing banks, hiking the tax rate and widening the scope of the so-called “military levy” – a special revenue tax collected from both citizens and businesses. All those policies will help Kiev procure more arms and pay its troops, the prime minister said.

Powerful Russian Strikes Usher in Season of Ukrainian Discontent

The main object of the strikes appeared to be important energy substations, particularly of the 750kv variety—which, as I understand, are far more significant and irreplaceable than the smaller run-of-the-mill substations.

Official statement from the Russian Defense Ministry regarding today's strikes on Ukrainian territory: "This morning, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a massive strike with long-range precision weapons of air and sea origin, operational-tactical aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, and strike unmanned aerial vehicles against critical energy infrastructure facilities that ensure the operation of Ukraine's military-industrial complex."

The Ukrainian military’s Kursk Region incursion was a high-stakes gambit aimed at forcing Russia to divert troops from a key sector of the front line, but Moscow didn’t take the bait, Ukraine’s top commander has admitted.
“One of the tasks of conducting an offensive operation in the Kursk direction was to divert significant enemy forces from other directions, first and foremost the Pokrovsk and Kurakhovsk directions,” Colonel General Aleksandr Syrsky said at a press conference in Kiev on Tuesday.
“Of course, the enemy understands this, so it continues to focus its main efforts on the Pokrovsk direction, where its most combat-ready units are concentrated,” he continued.
“The enemy is trying to withdraw units from other directions, while in the Pokrovsk direction, on the contrary, it is increasing its efforts,”Syrsky claimed, describing the situation in Pokrovsk and Kurakhovsk as “quite difficult” for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

US acknowledges Russia’s ‘incremental gains’ in Donbass

Located in the west of Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic, Pokrovsk and Kurakhovsk sit on key supply roads linking Donetsk with Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye. Pokrovsk is a major logistics hub for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who have heavily fortified the city since 2014. Russian forces have been conducting heavy attacks on Pokrovsk in recent weeks, with American officials acknowledging on Monday that the Russians have been making “incremental gains”toward the city.
Ukrainian forces invaded Russia’s Kursk Region on August 6, in the largest attack on internationally recognized Russian territory since the outbreak of hostilities in February 2022. The advance was quickly halted by the Russian military, but fighting in the region continues, and Ukrainian troops still hold a number of settlements in the border area.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the incursion has cost Ukraine more than 3,400 service members and around 400 armored vehicles.
The Ukrainian leadership has been inconsistent in explaining its goals for the Kursk operation. Initially, the office of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky said the capture of Russian territory was necessary to intimidate the Russian public and obtain a stronger position during eventual peace talks with Moscow.

The messaging later shifted, with Zelensky claiming that he aimed to create a buffer zone inside Russian territory and deter Moscow from ordering an attack on Ukraine’s Sumy Region, which borders Kursk.
However, anonymous sources have told The Economist that Syrsky was on the cusp of being fired in early August, and ordered the Kursk operation out of “desperation.” Faced with mounting losses in Donbass, Syrsky’s main objective “was to draw [Russian] troops away from the Donbass stranglehold, and to create bargaining chips for any future negotiation,” the British magazine reported last week.

i am shocked by the rapid change in ordinary people who for the first time in their lives now see the state as their enemy and it propaganda office RTE as a pusher of lies and omissions --people for the first time generally do not trust RTE anymore .
nobody really has a handle on why things have developed this way and why so many politicians are resigning and leaving politics altogether .
they as a group see what is coming and it does not look good to them .
