Caught up with Ritter earlier who was talking about the abject failure of not just the counter offensive but NATO weaponary as a whole.

Basically his argument was that the west has disappeard up its own butt hole in trying to ceate ever more sophisticated weapons that look grand on paper but just don't function when the bullets start flying for real. He was especialy scathing of the Patriot air defence system which, he kept repeating, just doesn't work, but the defence contractors aren't interested in that, they just want the dollars to keep rolling in.

As for all those ancient guns and tanks the Russians keep digging out, they do actually work, the guns keep firing and the tanks keep running whereas the Leopards, he maintains, are proving unreliable on the battlefield and crews would rather be in an old tank that works rather than a new one which doesn't.

The take away being that NATO is, at the end of the day, just another toothless tiger, Russia ain't.
