Ukraine.

It all seems like a long time ago now, but there was once a heated debate on P.ish twixt yours truly and Tankman over Russia's capability to produce vehicles for its army, Tankman being adamant that they hadn't a hope of keeping up with the west's massive reserves and super efficient industry.

It seems that Putin himself has settled the argument -

TULA, February 2. /TASS/. The production of tanks in Russia has grown fivefold since the beginning of the special military operation, and automobile production has increased sevenfold, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with the participants of a forum devoted to the special military operation.

Yea, but WankTank was nothing but a propagandist for the Nazis in Ukraine and their handlers in Washington.

What happened to the old days when the numbers of tanks on both sides were in the areas of 50000.

How many tanks did the west send anyway, was it even a hundred.

And if it were it was a hundred too many because this has shown that tanks are obsolete regardless or armor. Tanks had to avoid mines, but now the mine can be dropped onto it by a drone. Or a man can fire a small missile and take out the tracks.
We saw a man run up and place bomb on the tank on video even. A magnetic decvive.

I suspect in a real war, ships would get a similar fate.

The future is not big but small. A smart drone the size of a be can come in your window, or have its buddy break the window, and pop you in the forehead, adíos.

The Russians list tanks destroyed but appear to have given up on releasing the snuff movies so it appears that they are not being used in the battles, because we are not seeing them.

Ships are somewhat different as they can sustain more damage than a tank. Any drone that can carry enough HE to do serious damage is going to be spotted and taken out long before it gets close.

Naval wars are also fought over much larger areas meaning that drones will have further to fly and more sea to cover to find the enemy. There are no frontlines in naval warfare.

Well with ships I was thinking missiles.

But getting back to drones. A swarm of bee sized drones could kill on on the decks and indeed inside as well.

I would expect the US to have these ready.

Turkey appears to be at the forefront of drones as well, having given them to Azeri to beat the far stronger on paper Armenians, and also similiar to a side in Libya.

Naval ships have NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) defence strategies during which they go into total lockdown, doors shut and sealed and a constant dousing of the decks to wash off chemicals and fall out. Bee drones haven’t a hope TBH.

Could we get some of these small weapons for Sarsfields ? ;)

Well a bee is rather light on gas I would imagine
If we are talking about ships out at sea, on the 12 mile territorial limit for instance, then these mini drones need to know where it is, or will be by the time they arrive. If the vessel patrolling at around 15 knots or so (17mph) then the navigation needs to be spot on and once they arrive they have to travel with the ship while seeking an entrance or waiting for a lad to come on deck.

Are they really capable of that?

Small boat can get very close in The Red Sea for example. Going in to the Black Sea is about 2 miles

The missile might cost $100000, the bee sized drone with cost $100.

The bee can fly run corners and on land under trees , so the bee is not afraid on the missile

For the first time since the SMO, Russian special forces (Spetsnaz) have entered central Avdiivka.

We are hearing the term 'Russian special forces' ever more frequently nowadays which might suggest that Russia has switched to more surgical methods of operation rather than throw bodies at a situation. The decision would have been taken months back as it takes time to select and train the soldiers, yet it seems to be working.

One lesson to be learnt here is that smaller units of motivated soldiers are far more effective than unwilling conscripts, something which the British Army has known for years and has prided itself on its professionalism, or did until all this diversity nonsense came along. Yet the mood music is now for returning to national service as pointed out elsewhere on this site. I'm not sure that the Brits have their thinking joined up, so nothing new there.

Europe is bricking itself. It has committed to a war with Russia it knows it probably will lose badly. They were hoping Russia would exhaust herself in Ukraine. Instead, a massive war machine has been born.
Been commented on more than once.
Underestimate the Russians at your peril.

He is supposed to get 4.8 billion in March. The rest is stages over 4 years. This must be printed money so just printing 50 billion extra might be too much.

 I had no idea it was stage payments.......I thought they were going to throw the whole 50 billion note out to him

PARIS, February 6. /TASS/. The EU intends to turn the Ukrainian army and military industry a part of its own military capabilities, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said, speaking at the European Parliament session.

Warning that "there will be more suffering" ahead, she added that Ukraine is a "future member of our European Union," claiming that Europe will be "at Ukraine’s side for every single day of this war and for every single day thereafter." . . .

Arseula's new year present for most of you - More taxes, more refugees, no peace, no prosperity, no building, no good.

It must be clear to the vast majority of Europeans that the woman is off her rocker, but I guess there are still too many that like it like that.

The incompetent Ursula writing checks she won't be paying for!

She''s a monster. There's no sign of de-escalation. Terrible for the troops and their communities, teens growing up will soon be expected to get trained to face the the meat grinder and perhaps survive it.

A dangerously incompetent creature.
Frau Merkels gift to Europe.
