Certain conspiracy heads were predicting as far back as the inauguration that Trump's run would be a short one. The one I was reading was saying they expected that Trump would be shot for real and this would allow Vance to be brought in. That Vance was the real bought off creature of the tech bros.

The above scenario would work too, but a shot Trump would immortalize him and secure the electoral longevity of the MAGA project.
