Trump probably has a year and a half left of any power he holds, his actions of late will most likely ensure the Democrats will win the senate and congressional elections in 2 years meaning his final 2 years of President will return to normal with countless impeachment efforts and blocking of his Presidential decisions at every opportunity.

The problem is: "The Marketplace of Ideas" is bullshit.

Ted Cruz saying "we have to invade Iran," and not having to have a cohesive argument why, is a sign of strength & not weakness. He doesn't have to have an argument: the people in power already want this war.

It is debatable how real democracy is in any mass society.

I guess though some have stronger elements of democracy than others.

Also political forms I think are means to an end, namely the common good, and not ends in themselves. That goes for both "parliamentary democracy" and Monarchy.
