Can you really say National Socialism was merely a political ideology or was it also a religion of sorts?

It seems the basis of National Socialism is a belief in a mystic pattern to the world in the same way Augustine described it although not exactly.

Any form of reaction or Conservatism probably requires such a thing.

I think the writer that comes closest to National Socialism aside from Julius Evola is Thomas Carlyle, who probably followed some kind of 'religion' of mysticism.

Is it possible to still follow this 'religion' today?

it was not a religion despite its symbolism .
i have a book on Jewish art and 1500 years ago the swastika was a popular design in floor tiles in temples .
the roman salute is the roman salute which was borrowed from the legions along with everything else they had used.
to give the masses direction it was decided to glorify the romantic vision of the Gaul and Celts and dress people up in clothes last worn a thousand years ago .
Ireland had a mad Celtic revival in the early 1900 and we dressed in daft stuff as well and my father was subjected to a primary education in the Irish language which he never recovered from -- he said he had to memorize everything and understand nothing .
there were such a vast amount of sources drawn from and only then do you ask what is national socialism .
most people dismiss the word socialism and give enormous weight to nationalism --this is a big mistake .
if somebody said Hitler was the worlds only communist i would have to agree -- however he was not a Marxist or trot .
nobody ever did what he did except Christ in the temple and this is the problem --the holocaust is the barbed wire around national socialism .
this system brought the starving and suiciding Germans to be the wealthiest country in the world in 6 years !!!! .
it was a marvel and both Churchill and chamberlain were glorious in their praise of Hitler .
HOWEVER THIS ECONOMIC MIRACLE IS BANNED FROM SOCIETY AND CANNOT BE STUDIED IN ANY SCHOOL DESPITE ITS PROVEN SUCCESS.
Every thing you read from the mainstream press and mainstream historians is a lie .
my uncles family perished in 3 camps and i learned a great deal from him and he met Goering and all the head Nazis at Nurenburg where he was a translator .
the word Nazi is used here as people were familiar with it but they never referred to themselves as Nazis.

the man who knew the most about Hitler was a very dangerous man as everything printed about Hitler apart from the name of his dog and girlfriend was lies .
it is said what other world leader when he died owned a house and a dog and nothing else.
DAVID IRIVING is your best source -- because he singlemindly went to Germany and worked in a steel factory and learned German and learned about Germans close up he then wrote about Dresden using German sources and wrote truthfully and beautifully .
his work was praised by all in England and America but especially in Germany where he was seen as a person of integrity as they felt they could not tell the story themselves.
they were so grateful to him for doing a honest job of it -- everyone happy at this stage and he gave up his job and moved to London and bought a brand new rolls royce and a home in the west end from the success of the book .

he in many of his lectures refers to Hitler as a gangster however because he was truthful about why Germany had to be rescued,
this drove the zionists mad as nobody was to tell the truth,

the Germans since the Dresden book trusted him and gave him their private papers and diaries of the most senior officers /ministers /civil servants .
this material was entrusted to David Irving alone based on his honesty /integrity and this angered those who wrote multiple books which now were visible as someone chancing their arm and now with the truth from the horses mouth and from many horses mouths all backing each others version of events and all dead and unable to alter their diaries --Irving emerged at the authority on WW2 and this authority was not about to tell a pack of lies to back up propaganda and of course then became public enemy number one in Israel ,
they spent 13 million in the lipstatt trial to rubbish him and failed but secured a technical victory and his work stood up to many thousands of man hours by lawyers with a money no object mission to destroy him.
i would not trust any other source .
