the corrected MYLES VERSION is as follows 1 USA GALLON = ONLY 3.785 LT PER USA GALLON NOT OUR 4.56 LT PER GALLON THIS MEANS .
3.78 X 1.96=7.41 EUROS PER US GALLON WHICH = 7.41X 1.17 = 8.67 US DOLLARS PER GALLON .

Indeed it would have been, but I would have thought the difference in value would have been greater than the difference in container size.

Just to add to this the ton is based on the container used for shipping wine and a ships tonnage originally referred to the number of wine barrels she could carry. The measure has now been replaced by the metric tonne, which is slightly heavier.

If you have any proof of cruelty to animals, you should do your duty and report it to the cops/NSPCA :) Let us know how you get on. :)

Cruelty to horses is much more likely to happen amongst the well heeled horsey set.

Your attempts to post demoralising content are transparent.

i know Inga Schwapp the german olympic champion who has a place in kilmuckridge and she exercises her horses in deep sand as she and her husband are elderly -
her neighbour is emer haughey who also has a stud farm .
They moved to ireland because they could not get horses of the irish standard elsewhere and they school them and export them to germany where they have a years long waiting list for IRISH horses .
i am surrounded by horses --my neighbour is ann marie dunphy who trains the irish olympic team and she competes all over europe from seville to st petersburg and drives her own scania truck .
all the fields around me have horses and they recieve royal treatment from totally dedicated people who have a very special relationship with them .
you know nothing about the irish or the irish horse.

Have to agree with you there.
The knacker you're replying to couldn't even earn enough to live in Ireland never mind owning and paying for the upkeep of horses.
I have a couple and my daughter competes on them in places like Cavan, Mullingar and various venues north and south.
99% of the people I know and come across treat their animals better than they treat themselves and often go without so the animal is looked after properly.
My horse ownership literally costs me three times my mortgage at least, but as a family we absolutely love it.
Knackers and scumbag 'urban cowboys' and sulkie racers should be banned from any decent society, much like the pedophiles and nonces we run out of our country.

Quite so, didn't both Napoleon and Wellington buy their horses in Ireland? That famous grey that the Frenchman is seen riding in paintings is said to have been bought at the Buttevant Horse Fair in Cork, although I can't remember the name of the event now.

On the not so bright side Coolmore is not popular with Tipperary farmers as any local land that comes up for sale is snapped up by the place, price is no obstacle and so the neighbours are unable to expand their own holdings.

Been there, done that! TBH the horses just about broke us as it was the time of the recession and things were hard for a while. But anyway, they did give the girls tremendous self confidence which they still have and that was the greatest result of all.

there is something else it gave them -- Marcellus Aurelius the greatest roman emperor said my favourite comment on life THE MOST VALUABLE MOMENTS OF MY LIFE WERE OFTEN THE ONES I THOUGHT SPENT IN IDLE USELESSNESS .
Your children would have spent THEIR own time in quietness just being close to the horse and they would have become aware there was PERSON present with their own views and wishes and personality and frailties .
This personal education which can not be taught and only learned in quietness with an animal/person present as they observe each other and bond is a wonderful thing to allow into a childs soul.
it never leaves nor the wonder of it for all time.
and those with it in their soul are changed for life they have a richness a wealth a balance to their views others do not have --- well done for doing that-- it was important.

Nail on the head there, there was one horse in particular that became a family pet, broke all hearts when she went, and she chose who her new keeper was going to be, not us. A story for another time there.

Bullocks have the great advantage of being able to keep going where horses cannot and were used by all levels of society when the winter came and the roads became quagmires and impassable to the more elegant equine.

the middle class Irish were forced to pull their carriages with bullocks in the 1800/1700 as any Englishman could take the horses from them as they were not permitted weapons -an education -access to the courts or horses.
 
Well that was the Penal Laws against Catholics of course, not everybody in the Irish Middle Class. The rule was that no Catholic could own a horse worth more than, I think, £5. There is a famous story from Westmeath where the Protestant neighbour of the 'Buck' Geoghegan was admiring his horse and then offered him the proverbial £5, which he would then have to accept. He excused himself, went to the stable and shot the horse.
