Again, money is an idea. Its value is extrinsic. There are two things Russia is never going to run out of nor run low on, and that's food and energy. If you wanted to have certainty in any two sectors, you'd choose both of those. The exchange rate of the ruble isn't going to affect your average Russian's life in a material sense. They're still going to go on heating their houses and eating well regardless. They don't have a credit or housing crisis.

If you want to get a picture of how it's all shaking out, go look at the median income for a Russian citizen, convert it to USD$ and watch the above video.
