For whatever reason, Putin never unleashed the heavy bombing. He never targeted civilians or infrastructure like everyone else does.
See Ukrainians aren't American, British or European - They're half Russian.
Just because Nato got it all wrong it doesn't follow that the Russians have to follow likewise?

Because the Russians will be dealing with the consequences of this war far more proactively than the supporter's of the war would be the most likely reason.
And the reconstruction.

This is probably the biggest own in the SMO to date.

RU forces just destroyed the main bastion of defense in Avdiivka. The Irony? They did it with shovels. It was so well defended they couldn't get into proximity to do traditional ground assaults, so they literally dug a tunnel 170M long, planted a bomb under the hornet's nest and blew it up.

Tunnelling as a tactic goes back to the 19th century at least. Its slow, and not hugely effective, as WW1 showed.

If the Russians are reduced to this, then it's over. Winter is coming to freeze the ground hard as rock.

And yet, by doing so they managed to take out the stronghold in Avdiivka.

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty fucking hugely effective in this instance. RU opted for tunneling because in this circumstance it was the right play. It doesn't follow that they're going to viet cong their way through the remainder of the SMO. Imbecile.

Well before that even. Undermining a castle’s walls is a practice as old as castles themselves.

  • There were 150 reports of aircraft technical malfunctions in the first 9 months of 2023, compared with fewer than 50 during the same period in 2022
  • The most problematic areas involved key elements of the airframe including engines, hydraulic systems, flaps and software
  • Russian airlines are having to resort to “uncertified” repairs and maintenance services, many with allies such as Iran because of a lack of technical specialists and insufficient domestic repair facilities
  • It is estimated that of the 820 foreign-made civilian aircraft held by Russia almost 70 percent have now been subjected to uncertified service and repair using “non-authentic” spare parts
  • It was estimated that by mid-2023 as much as 35 percent of Russia’s foreign fleet of aircraft have been “cannibalized” to keep the rest flying because of an acute shortage of spare parts
  • Most Soviet-era aircraft have been grounded because their engines were produced in Poland and elsewhere, the supply of which has been cut off by sanctions
  • In January 2023 alone, 19 of the 220 Airbus aircraft suffered technical failures with 33 among the 230 Boeing aircraft and 3 from the 21 Brazilian Embraer fleet

While Jarry is rambling with erroneous, off-topic bullshit about commercial planes, RU Forces captured the heavily fortified filtration plant in Southern Avdiivka, broke through the defensive posts in the region and have now effectively annexed it. The fall of Avdiivka in its entirety just got a whole lost closer and a whole lot more imminent sooner than expected.

Very prominent UA war channel describes how AFU is taking very large losses in Avdiivka due to the use of cluster munitions.

BUDAPEST, November 22. /TASS/. The EU strategy regarding the conflict in Ukraine has failed, Russia cannot be defeated and therefore the EU must switch to a new plan of action, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in Zurich.

The Prime Minister pointed out that Hungary condemned Russia’s actions regarding Ukraine from the start, but the Western reaction to these actions was wrong.

"What was our strategy? The Ukrainians [would] fight and win at the frontline, and the Russians [would] lose. What is the reality? The Ukrainians fight and die. What have we come to? Russia will not lose, and nothing will change in its policy. Therefore, we must face the reality. We must switch to Plan B," Orban said, adding that the EU currently has no such plan.

Sure, and most of us (especially the Ukrainians, Russians and Europeans) want our peace, prosperity and a return to normality (fuel certainty etc) back home again too.
It's been a terrible waste of time and resources and you know my POV - It's now time to get rebuilding because it's going to take ages, stop wasting the cash ffs🤨

The echo of of 1930s naivety rebounds still. Amazing.

Orban just wants the EU money that's frozen that's all.

Exactly, what's with Nato upending everyone's lives and businesses to satisfy a losing streak, frozen assets, fractured energy supply, population displacement, censorship, slaughter?
Nato's ambitions were never possible and to believe so is beyond naivety - It's worrying, to say the least.

No. Hungary is supposed to get 13B euros in structural funds. Its been held up because its turned a quasi-dictatoral state. So Orban wants to veto everything else in the EU until he gets it.

He doesnt give a fuck about Russia.

It's why the EU wants to move away from animous decision making. One selfish cunt can fuck the whole thing up.

The EU just wants the power to fuck everything and everybody up with only the tiniest interference from the vestigial limb of democracy.

He just wants the 13B euros.
If he really cares like you said, he'd leave the EU and NATO and join his pal Putin.
Why doesn't he?
No, he's doing what other countries should be doing, making a stand against unreasonable EU dictates.
The EU needs to be renegotiated and reformed away from military expansion and making peace with Russia will be good for all concerned.

No. If he followed his convictions he'd go all in with Russia.
He's just playing both sides. But he'll stay in the EU and NATO. ;)

I'm all for many of the founding principles of the EU, but they have been lost in the inevitable power grabs and empire building of the last 20 years. Time to nuke the joint and start again.

American Nurse Sheds Light on Dire State of Ukrainian Army

The situation on the front lines for the Ukrainian armed forces is indeed dire, especially in terms of human resources, so it is no "secret" that Kiev is "plugging holes" with foreign mercenaries.
The Ukrainian army has recently suffered 'significant losses', Rebekah Maciorowski, a nurse from the United States who joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces, told Business Insider.

"In recent weeks, many of our soldiers have been wounded. Some have been killed. And it's very difficult," she shared.
Maciorowski also complained that Ukrainian soldiers often receive substandard medical supplies or have no first-aid kits at all.

"Everything is infested with rodents, so some of my equipment gets eaten or damaged by mice, which is very frustrating," the American volunteer added.
Ukrainian soldiers have already told Western media about the "mouse infestation" earlier this fall. The rodents are actively damaging wiring in the trenches, including attacking terminals for Starlink satellite internet.
