Lets just have a look at this -

After the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, pessimism has spread in society. Bad news about the lack of ammunition in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a shortage of soldiers, weaknesses in the supply of weapons systems from the West, and a decline in Ukrainian morale have fuelled the mood.

So the starting point is that the much hyped counter offensive has achieved nothing despite all the makey uppy videos of the Russian hordes being driven back by the plucky Ukes. The reasons given for the failure are shortage of manpower and the lack of western arms getting through to the front for whatever reason. So there aren't the soldiers or the logistics available to the commanders, we get that.

"Many people forget that most of the tanks and armoured combat vehicles are still there, and that many of the promised weapons are still being delivered," argues Nico Lange.

In other words the Ukrainian army has not been able to utilise the weapons it has already received and are still arriving. Given the earlier excuses for failure this is most probably due to lack of soldiers and logistics. There may also be an element of recruits being rushed to shore up the front without the time to train them on the NATO weapons. And even if there was, would the commanders know how to use them effectively on the field? A tank is useless on its own, it needs to be part of a force, do the Ukies know how to manage that? It's not an expertise that can be acquired overnight.

This applies, for example, to 200 German Leopard 1 tanks, of which only about 30 have arrived in Ukraine.

Moreover, Ukraine still has access to more than 95% of all weapons systems supplied by the West, as they have not yet been used in the counteroffensive. This is based on estimates by Oryx, a Dutch open-source website that analyses data on the supply and destruction of military equipment.

So they have all these weapons that are unused, see above for probable reasons. So it's not a weapon shortage that's the issue, is being able to use them, and training an army takes time, not three weeks, that is if they have an army to train and that, as already noted, does not appear to be the case.

No doubt they had plenty of time to convert with full training. There is also the ground support which has to familiarise itself with new airframes and avionics.

And most of the Western kit wasn't commited last summer. The forces using them have suddenly many more months to train on them. The AFU and Western advisors have learned lessons and will apply them.

Ukraine is simply not going to stop from freeing their country.

The AFU and western advisors have wiped out a huge number of the sort of men that are needed in an army. It's too late now to apply any lessons learnt.

They haven't. It will take time until they have. Once again you display an abysmal level of comprehension.

All you are doing now is confirming that the US and its puppets in Europe are simply going to string this conflict out for as long as possible, killing thousands more and draining the west of resources. That is a diabolical prospect, but one you filthy warmongers delight in while not actually volunteering for the front yourselves.

I think they have only spent 6% of the US defense budget to destroy most of the Russian army that deployed in Feb 2022. Most European nations have barely touched their military capacity and certainly none of their air or sea power.

But yes, they are stringing it out and the Russians are paying for that. They really just should give Ukraine everything it needs now. Lives will be saved in the long term.

Most of the trained forces available in Feb 2022 are gone, as I have repeatedly said. That's why the Russians have not succeeded at Avdiivka. The only way they can succeed, is killing 10s of thousands of troops, at Bakhmut. And that didn't end the war.

Ah, so now its 'most of the trained forces', a somewhat different prospect to most of the Russian army. And who is telling us this? Western propaganda outfits.

Russia has plenty of time to take wherever it wants, no point in sacrificing its soldiers for so little gain.

No. Its the same thing. That was the last professionally trained force they had. All the forces since then are undertrained and underprepared, and using really old kit.

They were the 22nd most powerful army in Feb 2022, taking on the 2nd most powerful. There's been a huge learning curve. It's been an achievement to liberate territory from the Russians, and fight them to a standstill.

With the push for F-16s, and most of the Western kit still available to them, they can start to move to take the initiative now that the Russians are exhausting most of their mechanised forces and Putin is afraid to order further mobilisation.

A. There is no evidence to suggest that the Russians were going any further, they have taken great care to refer to it as a SMO, not an invasion or war.

B. As already noted, Ukraine can have all the kit in the world but unless they have a well trained army that can actually use it then it remains so much scrap.

C. Russia has beaten off the resources of NATO, which as a force has failed miserably.

So the General is staying and the piano player has de facto now been replaced. I am now changing his name to Fredoinsky and at best , while the fighting continues, he will be Mickie D Higgins. It would be bad optics to clip him overtly.
