If tanks are 5 years old or fifty.
It's irrelevant to the drones.
Or javelin or kornet atm systems.
Tank on tank engagement has been very infrequent so far in the Ukraine zone.
Upgraded T55 is just fine for support roles.
Still no fun for the guy's in any armored vehicles anymore.

As far as I know, Russia is using T-55 mostly as SPG with accurate rifled canon
It is tolerant to cluster munition which Ukrainians are using to counter Russian artillery
Another option is to use it as VDBIED

A long and rather tedious polemic on Russia taking the presidency of BRICS for 2024. It's good old Soviet unleavened block text that only a few will have the courage to attempt to assimilate fully.

I certainly haven't read it all myself, but skimming through it appears that Russia has big plans for enlarging and strengthening the organisation to rival the western dominance of the globe. Putin is probably thinking that a, it will give the US a run for its money and b, by doing so the west will be less inclined to bother BRICS members militarily. The Ukraine conflict has bled NATO dry of arms and it's struggling to make up the deficit, compare and contrast with the manufacturing might of BRICS and perhaps NATO members might come to their senses when the neocons demand that Russia be engaged on spurious pretences.

This passage caught my eye in particular -

By the way, BRICS has already surpassed the Group of Seven in terms of purchasing power parity: the group accounts for 35.6% of the global GDP, while the G7 accounts for 30.3%. By 2028, the situation will evolve further in BRICS favor: 36.6% versus 27.8%.

The locals are making all sorts of small arms in the back streets of India and Pakistan. In Taiwan there is
a large indigenous group who are denied any guns even to hunt with by the government. They make their own too. A heat seeking device on a drone can identify a sniper on the ground and take him out. You are right that
over reliance on technology is a mistake. Ammo shortages are a huge problem stemming from years of industrial decline.
