It's been interesting to see what people want to believe, and what they are being shown.

The interviews with the Tajiks are carefully edited. We only hear a few seconds or minutes of what must be extensive interrogation, and its just a part that can be used to bolster a narrative around Ukraine. Yet even there, there's an issue, the mention of the "preacher", which points at some online recruitment of these guys.

Above all, Russia are doing their damnest not to admit this is an ISIS op, since the US specifically warned them. Eventually they will have no choice to confront it, and we will see a sudden rampup in propaganda trying to connect ISIS with the US, Mossad, etc etc. But again, the US warned them.

On the other hand, ISIS are just fucking with Russia at this point. They clearly want to draw out the embarrassment with these photo and video drops...there's obviously so much more they have. Also by blurring faces and distorting audio, I think they are trying to imply Russia has the wrong guys, to cause even greater uncertainty and embarrassment.

Also I'd also guess that these guys were indeed told to go Ukraine afterwards. The kicker is that Ukraine has nothing to do with that, and certainly nothing to gain. The idea that these guys could conduct such an atrocity, then safely travel 400 km across Russia, and cross an active war zone, is for the birds, anyway. ISIS are just trying to escalate what they see as a war between Christian nations and instructing these guys to go to Ukraine is a simple way to fan the flames.

Russia needs to show its on top of this now and that means talking about the truth and no bullshit about Ukraine. ISIS clearly have all the material they need to embarrass Russia and destroy credibility.

They were recruited through the Ukrainian embassy in Tajikistan. One is a Ukrainian citizen.
