The causes behind the new Catholic Revival

BFH, while I think you’re right to describe the feeling of liberation people experienced at the time; however that doesn’t mean the changes themselves were either necessary or healthy for the Faith. What you’re describing is less a simple “translation into English” and more a wholesale redefinition of what the Mass actually is.

The Novus Ordo is not simply a translation of the traditional Latin mass. It’s an entirely new liturgy.

Firstly, on Latin. It wasn’t there to exclude people, it was there to unify and protect the Faith. For centuries, whether you were in Ireland, France, Africa, or Asia, the Mass was the same. A Catholic could walk into any church, anywhere in the world and know exactly what was happening. That universality matters. More importantly, Latin is a dead language, so it doesn’t change. That means the meaning of the prayers can’t drift over time the way vernacular languages do. In a religion built on precise doctrine, that stability is a safeguard, not an insult. If any saint from past centuries turned up today and attended a post Vatican 2 new order (Novus Ordo) rite; they wouldn't know what religion it was and certainly wouldn't think its Catholic. They'd be confused.

And it's worth saying that understanding wasn’t absent, either. People followed the Mass with missals (with the English translation, side by side with the Latin), catechesis, and familiarity. The idea that Catholics for 1,500 years were just sitting in ignorance doesn’t really hold up. My kids could follow the Latin mass at 6 or 7 years of age. It's incredibly simple.

The priest facing the altar, rather than the people, also wasn’t about “turning his back.” He was leading the people in prayer, all facing the same direction, toward God on the cross on Calvary, when the priest faces the other way, he's turning his back on God on the Cross. It is a re-enactment of Calvalry. It was a shared orientation, not a performance. When that changed, the focus subtly shifted: the priest became more like a presenter addressing an audience, rather than a mediator offering sacrifice. The new liturgy and priestly actions suggest that the mass itself is more than likely illicit.

Now, the deeper issue: the post–Vatican II reforms didn’t just “happen.” The new liturgy; the Novus Ordo, was largely shaped by a masonic infiltrator called - Annibale Bugnini, a figure who has long been controversial, including allegations (with considerable evidence) of Masonic associations. What’s not disputed is that he deliberately brought in Protestant observers during the reform process, and the resulting rite removed or softened many explicitly Catholic elements; especially references to sacrifice, sin, and the priest’s unique role. The Freemason Bugnini and his Protestant advisors formed a new liturgy which can only be described as a 'new religion'.

That’s why many see the new Mass as constructed to be more acceptable to non-Catholics rather than as a faithful organic development of tradition.

Even small details reflect a shift in spirit. The introduction of things like the “sign of peace”, that handshake moment, might seem harmless, but it changes the atmosphere from something sacred and vertical to something social and horizontal. It mimics the masonic 'handshake'. Someone was amusing themselves adding that to the liturgy.

As for whether Second Vatican Council was a success: that depends on what you think its goal was. If it was meant to usher in a “new springtime for the church,” the results speak for themselves, mass attendance collapsed, vocations declined, belief in core doctrines weakened. Ireland is a prime example of that trajectory.

But if the aim; intentionally or otherwise, was to dilute, modernise, and ultimately weaken the traditional Faith, then yes, you could argue it succeeded remarkably well.

The Church prior to Vatican 2 was soaring with all-time high mass attendances and conversions. This nosedived after Vatican 2. Pretty much immediately. Vatican 2 was a monumental failure.

So the 1960's “hippy moment” wasn’t just about making things easier to understand. It was about changing the entire orientation of Catholic life, from something sacred, stable, and transcendent into something adaptable, accessible, and, ultimately, far less anchored.

It has been a monumental failure.
Not a post, more of an article.

Very well written and explained.

Thousands in Marian procession in Derry the other day.
No counter protests by SFFG Lab GloboHomo Judaeo-Muslims.
Even the faggot Bishops didn't object!
They are on the retreat.

You've got to be kidding. The lefties are funded like no tomorrow.

We've got more tax payed NGO's and quangos than any other Country on Earth as pointed out by some black female MEP in the European Parliament.

Not to mention good old Mr Soros.

And where exactly is this mythical "far right" in Ireland? You'd probably fit their AGM in a phone box you tool.

No doubt the Soros and other money is pouring into the left.

(I also abhor that btw).

But that does not negate the fact of the counterweight money on the right also pouring into.

Inter Church day at the Clonard Novena in Belfast.

Yet another picture by the Nordie with no-one having the slightest clue as to what its supposed to mean.

Whose the guy in the blazer and chinos? A rabbi?

It’s a fake priest from the 1960’s Newchurch with a fake priestess from a fake Protestant sect. Two peas in a pod.
Thank you Sir.

Not for the first time someone else has had to come along and give some context to a random picture dropped by our Nordie friend.

But that criticism is fair sometimes, at both that Clonard novena, and at a similiar annual one at Knock, you sometimes get dodgy speakers and globalist ideology. It cannot be denied unfortunately, I know one very holy Belfast guy who completely gave up going to that Novena.

Thank you Sir.

Not really random though Myles. This Clonard Novena has become a bit of an event in recent years. gets lots of media attention and very well attended. From what I see of reports about it , it comes across as everything that Globalist elites would want from a Catholic Church. The photo I felt summed that up, where clergy from another religion and especially female ordained clergy would be co-celebrants at the Novena. Suggests to me a slow creep of the agenda into the Church and of course welcomed by the attendees at the Novena.

The SSPX thread has gremlins, so posting here:

Patsy McGarry was on Moncrieff today, whinging about SSPX. Anti-democratic, anti-republican and Bishop Williamson was a Holocaust denier. Oddly enough, he didn't make a big deal about the Gas Chambers Denialism - is he worried it might make them too popular?

He used the words traditional and conservative like swear words, though he said with a sneer that there was nothing wrong with being very traditional.

His big objection was that they "don't want to change".

Wasn't McGarry mixed up with some anonymous internet harassment thing?

If McGarry hates the trads so much, they must be doing something right...

The truth never changes and the Church is there to broadcast the truth, so he has got it wrong already.

This was in the 1930’s when seminaries were strict. I can only imagine the amount of infiltrators inside the church now.

I remember reading through actor Gabriel Byrne's autobiography. As a young fella he did a few years in seminary for the priesthood. He mentioned how one of his classmates was a full blown communist and went around preaching communism to his peers. Eventually the clerics in charge discovered this and he got kicked out. It seemed at the time that communists mixing among the student population was a regular thing and the seminary was always on the look out for it.

A gremlin is stopping me on the SSPX thread so I'll say it here.

The hospital chaplin who insisted that the Catholic patient be registered as "no religion" should be publicly challenged and fraternally corrected. In a nice peaceful manner.

That degree of pettiness is evil. That priest is fully on board with GloboHomo agenda. But if he is challenged, he will retreat.

I am not sure, unfortunately I think this new split is a manifestation of a deeper malaise. There are people in the modern Catholic Church who hate to be reminded that sodomy is a sin, and all the usual traditional things, and who really need no excuse to persecute real Catholics. I don't think they will back down, I think this kind of thing will get more common.

IThey are pretty brazen about it. t would be fun to record a GloboHomo priest defending, promoting sodomy.

The protest Rosary outside St Teresa's Sodomy Mass went well, I hear. No hassle from the cops, or even the homos.

could you give a brief idiot's guide to the differences between the SSPX and the Orthodox Church.

I am thinking if the globoChurch are so intent in driving out the SSPX, what distance they have to go to join the Orthodox.

I am thinking of the core theological distance rather than aesthetic

You mean the Eastern Orthodox? No there is no possibility at all of the SSPX and the Orthodox getting together, not at all I would say, but I think sincere Catholics in general, like the ones arisen during this Revival, might drift now towards the SSPX, maybe even including Bishops and priests.

i did a trip for a kilkenny school with a seminary attached and we went on a field trip to woods near cahir .
we had to wait 35 very long minutes for 2 openly gay student priests to return from the other direction in the wood where they had spent the day together .
when they approached the bus the crescendo of utterly mad comments started and the teachers deliberately made no effort to quieten the bus load who shouted the most obscene comments and openly asked who had rode who and who had sucked who and were greeted by tittering and utter delight that the most depraved language was being directed their way and they wore the insults with pride ..
we had lunch at nearby kilcoran lodge and i picked up my tray and sat in front of the DOMINANT priest to howls of shock from the young lads and they calmed down when it was obvious that i had moved there to interview this strangest new catholic .
he told me he does holiday work in his new parish in san fran sisco and he is moving there when his final vows are taken .
"""" they love me there and they just turn up in church to hear my cork accent all day --""" the baptists have it made they have at least 2 caddys each "" (caddillacs to you and me) and he spoke on about the life he had created for himself out of nothing where he had income and respect and a nice place to stay .
"" just do the funerals right -- they are a cash cow "" was another comment .
this man was deliriously happy with his lot --his partner looked unhinged had bad eyesight and appeared to be mentally ill and did nothing but smile at his dominant partner .
the new church has made peace with the devil and it comes at a cost ,
i am rarely shocked at how much i have got things wrong and how much change has taken place in front of my nose without me seeing it .
when i pondered it afterwards i was saddened for the young lads that they were exposed to this and their church was actually a part of it was the saddest thing --they have no source of morality to look up to -no proper road map to follow .

Wow. You did good work to talk to them.

Mad as hatters. Encouraging that the students were making fun of them!

We need a referendum to prohibit gay marriage and public homosexual behaviour and to provide free treatment for homosexuality for anyone who requests it.

Its true, its become a gay Church in some quarters, totally contrary to the law of God. You will hardly find a single bishop or even priest condemning any of that, never mind excommunicating any of them.

if i have it right the students with the teachers quiet permission were giving vent to their contempt for them --nobody was making fun of them this was deadly serious and reading between the lines at least one of them was advertising his sexual availability to anyone of any age or interest -- and this is a type of gay masochistic behaviour where you openly behave in an aggressively sexual manner--this i detected was the reason for their rage as it was a form of in your face entrapment for anyone unbalanced or lonely .
they saw this priest as a con man as a sexual predator and then the question is how come the church did not see what the young lads did .

So it's all about the money, but then, wasn't it always, wasn't that the chief amongst Luthers objections?

in today's irish society a priest has to be made of steel as he will be accused by drunks and druggies of being a peadophile and a criminal .
some communities are openly hostile to priests as they see them as establishment --.
many parents are rabidly hostile to any christian influence in primary schools and we have some schools in kilkenny which are described as non denominational but its chaos pretending to be ethical education .
i know many priests and the vast vast majority have multiples of my courage and integrity.
i was recently at the burial of a friend who i grew up with ,
and who hired me for years as he was principal of a local salesian secondary school and he patrolled the place with a giant great dane and a pellet gun which was incapable of being fired -- he had a fabulous sense of humour which the kids got and his mock threats of setting a great dane on you after he shot you was typical of the man .
he then spent 20 years as army Chaplin in custume barracks and in the lebanon and kosovo .
his file was read in church and it was shocking in its humility and sincerity and the head of the Salesian order read his application letter as a young man to join the salesian order .
It in the most powerful way possible brought you to a kitchen table in a miners house to a young man who believed with every atom of his being that he was doing the right thing and he laid out his reasons for doing so --- what was said almost bled on the altar it meant so much.
this man who an hour before he died was cracking jokes to the workers/carers in our local hospital /respite care died a smiling prince of a man who gave every moment of his life to others .
rip the very reverend Gerard Dowd .

There was some reports of the irish college in rome becoming ungovernable due to the gay cabal within .
it was then NEWLEY administered by a kilkenny pal of mine in 2013 following a deplorable review by a american cardinal .
fr tom is professor tom norris prof of systemic theology at maynooth and sent as spiritual director to the irish college following the withering review where 4 of the full time staff resigned .
even the irish college has its moments and challenges described by fr Tom as a blip in its history .

Causes behind the new Catholic Revival.

One of the new breed online yank catholic grifters trying his hand offline.

Looks like he will pull in around 100K in profit for his Irish leg tonight assuming he sells his 2,000 National Stadium tickets.

I hope Fr Schmitz gets a good crowd!

Who is the new bishop of Derry? His name is Router!! What kind of weird name is that? He is totally pro GloboHomo, pro mass migration.

How come he is getting the job?

There was a 5k crowd for a Marian procession in Derry recently. Mary's Blue Army they call themselves, and they suggest a dress code of blue trousers, white shirt, blue tie for men.

Did the Vatican send in Router to destroy Mary's Blue Army?

Betcha the Derrymen run him out of town in a year.

They will rout Router.

Catholic Rosary Boys shut down Ozzie Gay Bar.

We should do it here too.
