EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has been forced by a court to publicly retract false claims she made about an Estonian opposition politician.
In a social media post on February 17, 2022, Kallas, Estonia’s prime minister at the time, claimed police were attacked at a protest organized by Varro Vooglaid, an MP from the Conservative People’s Party of Estonia (EKRE), and the Foundation for the Protection of Family and Tradition (SAPTK), which he heads. She also linked Vooglaid to a 2021 Covid-19 restrictions rally in Tallinn.
Vooglaid and SAPTK sued Kallas in 2022, saying her claims had no factual basis.
Last year, an Estonian court ruled in their favor, finding that no police were attacked at rallies organized by Vooglaid and SAPTK and that neither was linked to the Tallinn demonstration. Earlier this week, the Estonian Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal to the case, making the ruling final.

Kallas posted her retraction on Facebook on Saturday, writing: “I, Kaja Kallas, published false factual claims in a post on February 17, 2022, stating that Estonian police were attacked at a demonstration organized by Varro Vooglaid and SAPTK in Toompea, and that Varro Vooglaid and EKRE organized a demonstration on October 23, 2021, at Freedom Square in Tallinn. These claims are untrue.” She did not apologize to either plaintiff.
Kallas has face repeated criticism over the accuracy of her public statements. She recently claimed that Russia “invaded at least 19 countries” over the past 100 years, “none of [which] ever invaded or attacked Russia” – a claim that lacks any factual basis. The remark, later echoed by Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, led Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova to accuse Western Europe of “deliberately promoting the inept and uneducated” to top government posts.
Separately, Kallas expressed surprise to learn that Russia and China defeated fascism in World War II, calling it “something new.” The comment prompted Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to suggest she should study history, in which she “clearly does not excel.”

Kallas has also faced growing criticism for her hardline approach to foreign policy and hawkish stance on Russia. Analysts and EU officials have accused her of favoring confrontation over diplomacy. The Czech newspaper HN reported this month that her work style is increasingly seen as “unproductive.”

The EU’s sanctions on Russia have ended up “crushing” the bloc itself, diminishing its economic competitiveness, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said.
Budapest has consistently opposed Brussels’ policies on Ukraine since the escalation of the conflict with Russia in February 2022, including the sanctions.
In a post on X on Sunday, Orban wrote: “Brussels promised sanctions would crush Russia. Instead, they crushed Europe.”

“Energy prices exploded, competitiveness collapsed, and Europe is falling behind,” he said, describing the economic trends across the EU as the “cost of bad decisions.”
Orban argued that the bloc should engage in negotiations with Moscow instead of doubling down on escalatory policies. Earlier this month, he said the EU is preparing for war with Russia by 2030, with a number of member states shifting toward a “war economy.”
Speaking to NBC News last month, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the EU failed in its attempts to contain Russia through sanctions. He made the remark several weeks after the bloc introduced its 19th round of sanctions, which Moscow has called illegal and self-defeating.
In a post on X earlier in December, Russian presidential envoy and senior negotiator Kirill Dmitriev wrote that Germany’s economic woes are the result of Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s “stupid & illegal decisions.”

Speaking at a political convention a day earlier, Merz acknowledged that Germany has lost its economic competitiveness. “We are falling behind, and this process has accelerated in recent years,” he said.
The German economy contracted in 2024, preceded by a 0.3% decline in GDP in 2023. Near-zero growth is projected for this year.
Following the decoupling from inexpensive Russian oil and gas, energy prices have risen considerably in much of the EU.

Live boiling has been used for centuries, particularly after lobsters and crabs became common in urban markets in Europe and North America in the 18th and 19th centuries, when the animals were thought not to feel pain. In recent decades, the practice has faced growing criticism as scientific evidence has indicated that decapod crustaceans can experience pain and distress.
”Crabs, lobsters and prawns endure unimaginable suffering, including one of the most excruciating forms of death: being boiled alive,” Crustacean Compassion, a UK animal welfare charity, said, adding that the animals can experience intense pain for up to three minutes before dying. The group has long called on the government to end what it describes as a “barbaric” practice.

Industry groups have cautioned that commercial pressures will shape how any changes are implemented. “If somebody’s wanting to buy a live crab or lobster, they’re not going to pay for it if it’s already dead,” the Shellfish Association of Great Britain told the Daily Mail, saying there is a strong incentive across the supply chain to minimize stress in order to preserve quality and secure higher prices. However, it warned that the cost of humane stunning equipment, around $4,700, could deter restaurants and hotels, pushing them to import frozen seafood from abroad instead.

when you actually look at it through your own eyes the truth is not complex .
but this is made difficult for most people who have not made independent arrangement / resources for news .

Not to worry, Alois Irlmaier, a 20th-century German Catholic mystic predicted and detailed his visions of war in Europe. Interestingly, it seems like southern Europe is largely off the hook. Well I will gladly bow to your knowledge here. However, I will point out that we, as a Christian, western society, saw fit that this form of slaughter was inhumane, hence it was reformed. Only for the backward, degenerate cultures, to reintroduce it to our country. That is not progress in any lay man's term 🤔
 
The reform was firing a metal bolt into the forehead of the animal

I cant remember when it was introduced. But before that, hang them by the back leg and cut the throat in an assembly line. The animal must be bled out


That is my understanding anyway
