Val Martin candidate for Cavan/Monaghan constituency in the next
Dail election.

Member of The Irish Freedom Party.

I was born and reared on a family farm at Kingscourt and attended Inver College Carrickmacross. I bought my first calf at age 15 and never stopped cattle farming. I worked in construction locally and in Dublin. Served in the FCA before answering a call for new Garda recruits. I served 32 years in the Gardai, always on active duty as a Garda in Dowra and Dublin, as a Sergeant in Scotstown and Clones before spending the last 17 years as Detective Sergeant in Cavan Town. I was in charge of state and personal security, crime investigation, the supervision of immigration and vetting job applicants. I kept farming in a reduced way. I retired with an exemplary record in 2005 to work as a project manager with Kingscourt Community Council to help with their projects. I was involved in renovating the enterprise centre, the railway station and the community centre. All work was to a high standard with good value for money a priority. I took up full time cattle farming in 2008, bought an excavator and built a new slatted shed and yard producing traditional and continental suckler calves for breeding and the beef trade.

I completed a four year part time degree course in Business studies in 2003 studying accounting, financial management, business and company law and information technology. I have been helping those facing legal difficulties on how best to overcome unjust treatment by the state or by others. I believe in fair play and fight corruption.

I began to see how the EU and Irish government were turning to untested green solutions while ignoring planning law in pushing pylons and wind farms on threatened communities in contravention of the EU Strategic Assessment Directive. I have devoted a lot of time to helping groups with planning and have taken three High Court Judicial Reviews as a lay litigant with no lawyers. I won one. Many groups have saved their environment using my advice. I am not against progress, I want all plans properly assessed by engineers with public participation. I predicted high electricity prices. French President Macron has said the EU cannot survive unless it changes direction. I received government instructions to reduce my cattle numbers to cut emissions while data centres were invited in to replace them. I have made several submissions on energy, planning, housing, and industry plans.

I am totally against the current mass migration from outside the EU into Ireland pushed by our government. I believe it can be stopped. I agree with my party that a proper multi agency body must be set up to process all immigration. I want to be involved in ensuring such a body is fit for purpose and staffed by the right people. I want to be given a role to fix this mess. We must take back full control of non-EU migration immediately.

I support my party's policy to build quality homes for Irish people and to help private home ownership. People must be allowed to buy fuel to keep warm. Farmers must have fuel and I oppose the government's campaign to end petrol/diesel car ownership. The carbon tax must be phased out. Most funding to self appointed progressive bodies must be ended. Government must support parenting. I opposed the two referendums in March 2024 on the status of women in the home and marriage definition. I oppose government plans to move the patent courts from Dublin to Europe. No one should be forced to take any substance into their body. Taking vaccines should be a personal choice.

If elected as a TD I will devote some of my salary to exploring legal challenges to stop the North South interconnector and to block illegal actions taken by our government in other areas. I am knowledgeable about law and I promise to examine all new laws and make sure they are properly drafted. I will oppose any hate speech bill and will protect the right to free speech and liberty. I oppose men taking part in women's sports and forcing teachers to teach left wing woke gender policies to children. The school’s job is to teach reading, writing, maths, geography, history, real science, religion and good behaviour. The rest should be decided by parents. Children should not be encouraged to undergo puberty blocking procedures until they grow up. Alternative lifestyles are all right by me, but the traditional family unit must be protected and cherished.

I have my own YouTube and Rumble video channel with 6,600 subscribers. ValMartinIrelandRealTrueEducation Not fake news which received thousands of views and comments. If elected I hope to keep everyone updated on my experiences in government. There will be no secrets or swanky talk out of me. I will put working men, women and families first. I will put Ireland first with Cavan/Monaghan at the top.

I am banned from Facebook for opposing the globalist woke agenda. I am banned from Twitter X for criticising Gretta Thunberg. I supported the EU until I discovered they were reneging on the promises in the treaties. Leaving it would be a last resort and requires a referendum. Ireland should not accept EU policies beyond what it voted for. The EU has no authority to force any migration on us. Irish mainstream media is just an expensive wing for our incompetent government, big corporations and communism. I will push to make it fully representative of all points of view and to promote unbiased media. I have made several complaints to regulators and found they don’t work for media, energy and finance.

I promise to be firm but not too extreme in office and to restore common sense ending waste, corruption and stupidity and to get projects like the National Children's Hospital completed. If there are legal issues, we may have to hold referendums to get over them. Above all I want accountability in every branch of the state and will push hard for it. We have all worked hard down the years and all should be comfortably off financially, but our government is robbing us. I want to end extravagant waste, keep vulture funds out of our water, electricity, energy, transport, health, land resources and law. We must learn from the history of invasion and make sure the Irish keep control of Ireland.

Cavan/Monaghan is the poor relation when it comes to government spending. A housing scheme at Dunaree, Kingscourt was recently refused because the sewage system is not fit for purpose. The Bailieborough to Virginia road, the Bailieboro to Lavey road and many secondary roads in County Cavan, Meath and Monaghan have the same twisted bends they had 200 years ago making them dangerous and slow. I will work with all parties to make sure the constituency gets its fair share of funding for the benefit of local people.

I was lucky to be born in Ireland. My country gave me safety, an education, a job, hobbies, friends, it let me rear my family, let me farm, let me live life to the fullest and follow my dreams. It called on me to serve its flag many years ago, which I did. Now, my darling country, Ireland (my Dark Rosaleen) laments, She calls to me again, she tugs on my coat to help her in her hour of need. With God’s will I now answer that call offering to be your determined partner in Dail Eireann and hope enough voters will support me on election day.

It is now or never. It will soon be too late. This opportunity will never come round again.

Val Martin: Candidate for Cavan/Monaghan Constituency

As a proud member of the Irish Freedom Party and lifelong resident of Kingscourt, I have dedicated my life to serving our community. With 32 years in the Gardaí, I’ve actively worked in crime investigation and state security while continuing my passion for cattle farming.

I oppose the government’s current approach to mass migration and advocate for a robust, multi-agency body to handle immigration. I believe we must take back control and ensure that all movements to Ireland suit our needs.

My priorities include supporting quality home-building for Irish families, opposing the carbon tax, and fighting for free speech and parental rights in education. I strongly oppose untested green solutions that threaten our communities and demand that all projects undergo thorough assessments.

If elected, I will hold the government accountable, ensuring no extravagant waste or corruption. Cavan/Monaghan has been overlooked, and I will fight for our fair share of funding to improve infrastructure and public services.

I promise transparency through my YouTube channel, where I’ll keep you updated on my work. Together, let’s put Ireland and the people of Cavan/Monaghan first.

Val Martin: Candidate for Cavan/Monaghan Constituency in the Next Dáil Election
Member of the Irish Freedom Party

I was born and raised on a family farm in Kingscourt and attended Inver College in Carrickmacross. At 15, I purchased my first calf, marking the start of a lifelong dedication to cattle farming. My career journey has included local construction work, service in the FCA, and a 32-year tenure in the Gardaí, where I rose from active duty in Dowra and Dublin to Detective Sergeant in Cavan Town. I have a strong track record in state security, crime investigation, and immigration supervision.

After retiring with an exemplary record in 2005, I managed projects for Kingscourt Community Council, ensuring high standards and value for money in community renovations. I resumed full-time cattle farming in 2008, focusing on traditional and continental suckler calf production.

With a part-time degree in Business Studies, I’ve assisted those facing legal challenges who cannot afford representation. I believe in fair play and oppose corruption.

I am deeply concerned about the EU and Irish government’s push for untested green solutions, which often neglect proper planning laws and threaten communities. I have taken three High Court Judicial Reviews as a lay litigant, winning one, and helping groups protect their environments. I advocate for proper assessments of all projects, anticipating the negative consequences of hasty decisions.

I stand firmly against mass migration from outside the EU, advocating for a robust multi-agency body to manage immigration effectively. I am committed to restoring control over non-EU migration and ensuring it meets Ireland's needs. My efforts to allow Assi Bibi, a Catholic woman sentenced to death in Pakistan for her faith, to seek refuge in Ireland highlight my dedication to human rights.

I support building quality homes for Irish families and oppose the carbon tax and the phase-out of petrol and diesel vehicles. The government must prioritize family support and responsible governance. I opposed the recent referendums on the status of women and the definition of marriage, as well as plans to relocate patent courts to Europe. Vaccination should remain a personal choice.

If elected as a TD, I will use part of my salary to challenge the North-South interconnector and oppose illegal government actions. I promise to scrutinize all new laws for clarity and fairness while protecting free speech. I oppose the inclusion of men in women’s sports and the imposition of left-wing ideologies in education, asserting that schools should focus on core subjects while parents guide their children's values.

I have a YouTube and Rumble channel with over 6,600 subscribers, where I share updates and insights without censorship. I am committed to putting the needs of working men, women, and families first, ensuring that Cavan/Monaghan gets its rightful place in the national conversation.

I believe in holding the government accountable and eradicating waste and corruption. Cavan/Monaghan has been neglected in terms of government spending, as seen in the recent refusal of a housing scheme in Dunaree due to inadequate sewage systems. Our roads remain unsafe and outdated, and I will advocate for necessary funding to improve infrastructure and public services.

Ireland has given me so much—safety, education, and the freedom to pursue my passions. Now, I answer the call to serve once more, determined to be your advocate in Dáil Éireann.

This is our moment. Together, we can ensure a brighter future for Cavan/Monaghan.

Val Martin

Any idea on that first draft?
It's good but way too long. Re-write each paragraph into one or two sentences. Give each sentence a heading in bold. Remove unnecessary details and get straight to the point.

With you being a Trump fan and with the US presidential election going on, consider using the following slogan:
MAKE IRELAND IRISH AGAIN

I disagree with @Hermit. People in ireland do not like Trump. Your stance is.

I admire Trump but at the end of the day, I must focus on who is best for the job opportunities as it relates to Ireland and specially the forgotten regions like Cavan Monaghan and indeed the Northwest in general

Val is going to put in a tight campaign there are definitely votes out there to be got , I have already committed to voting number 1 Val Martin :)

But ask them why and they haven't a clue. It's blatant brainwashing by the MSM but you'll never get folk to recognise that, let alone admit it.

Val, I'm honestly wishing you all the best but you have 200 words to get the bones of your message across, nobody is going to wade through all that unless you have caught their interest first, especially online.
JPC would ask for 10 pages more!

While its still up in the air whether or not there will be a General Election this year, nonetheless, as the above picture shows, it is getting more likely with the date 22 November been rumoured by many. Maybe then this site would like a general thread to discuss the subject and also specifically to try and learn lesson from the recent Local Elections and apply them to this election.

Fake problems for nationalist candidates

But to begin I would like to try and refute, two theories from that election that are often put forward as problems for the nationalist camp. One is that their vote was split by too many candidates and that is why we didn't get so many seats. I think this is a misunderstanding of the Irish electoral system, which is hopefully explained here so no need to dwell on again: (1). In Westmeath for example they had a nationalist alliance among the various anti-mass migration parties, but it seemed to make very little positive difference to the outcome. So while this writer certainly advises people not to vote on any preference for members of the uniparty, which is all the parties in the current Oireachtas, and hopes that individuals on the ground would assist each other in putting up posters etc, nonetheless this factor, the number of candidates, is not like to make a big difference either way.

The other tale you hear endlessly is that the ordinary Irish voter will just vote the same FF, FG, SF etc, faces back in no matter what happens. On the contrary, in the local elections Sinn Fein won 11.8% of the vote when even in the General Election in 2020 they got 24.5% and as late as a year ago were polling in the mid 30s.(2) In general terms I think Irish people viewed Sinn Fein back then as a real opposition to the uniparty, and have now realised it isn't and other than that many are looking at other false dawns like Independents in Independent Ireland and personalities like Luke 'Ming' Flanagan. Its obvious that they are trying to move away from the main parties, but don't see anybody particularly to vote for. Point is that they are not so very set in their ways right now, even the Ard Fheiseanna of the big parties (like recently Sinn Fein pictured), are not very impressive these days in terms of turnout.

Real problems for nationalist candidates

So what are the real problems or lessons that could be learned from the Local Elections? I would definitely say it is publicity and the related problem of finance. You see what some people reading this website and various similar twitter, telegram and youtube accounts floating in the same general political space, sometimes don't realise is that the Irish general public largely know nothing about the modern Irish nationalist movement and the personalities now going up for election from it.

Elections are like selling soap powder, ultimately, you might have the best quality brand in Ariel as opposed to Bold or what have you, but the best sales figures will probably not be for the best powder, but for the greater marketing budget assigned to each. There is no point in having the best powder if nobody has heard of it, and thats what applies to elections. Its all about name recognition, getting your face and name on everybody's lips and, as I say, nobody has heard of the Irish nationalist candidates.

This is no accident, its the culmination of been blanked out of all mainstream media for decades, so the only chance any nationalist candidate has in the election is therefore a good display of posters and leaflets to get your name out there. That brings us to the related point, finance. It emerged after the Local Election campaign that not a few quite prominent candidates (prominent that is for those who follow the nationalist social media) just didn't have enough money for any posters or for the postal leaflet drop which is standard for the mainstream candidates (all this is paid by the state for those candidates). Without that they never stood a chance, especially with the ongoing discrimination in the various old school media outlets.

That I think is the problem people might like now to focus on and try and solve if they can, if you are trying to help some good candidate get elected make sure he/she has enough finance at least for the leaflet drop to give them some chance.

I never knew that Val used to be a Garda.
I was the youngest to be promoted Sergeant in the history of it. I would have got higher if I had stayed in Dublin and environs. I arrived in Scotstown on promotion in 1980 and the place was crawling with rabbits. I was shooting 100 plus graziers (young adults) a week and selling them in Wexford St, Dublin for 60 pence each as fresh Wicklow rabbits. I sold to butchers shops I did not sell directly. I used a Unique French .22 RF bolt rifle and with open sights, no scope. Some out to 130 yards. I started to miss and the gunsmith said I had wore the barrel out. I got a new Merlin 39A which was not as accurate. It was lever action. Tried a semi auto which kept jamming. So got a Brno bolt, excellent. Winchester Lazer ammo. Years later I was with another guard and we saw a lone rabbit 35 meters away sitting. For a bet I shot it right through the ear with a Smith and Wesson Military and Police official issue revolver using the roof as a rest.

I have the cure of a foul in cattle's feet and I often stopped when I would see a beast sore and make the cure. I was seen a few times and it was the talk of the country. A calf way stolen from a cow. I kept investigating and found it in Blayney. Farmer could not belleve it.

The place was reeking with poiteen. Someone reported a crowd to the inspector who came out from Monaghan and led the raid in a fine suit. An auld one and her son were making it and storing it in a steel barrel. She saw us coming and ran into the shed. He raced in and she dumped the whole barrel 3/4 full at the door. Got him all over his trousers and shoes. I started to laugh and laugh. He did not like my attitude after that.

I have a bit of a pension out of it but my local generation stayed at home or went to the US, and returned. I think I was better off staying in Kingscourt and as they are getting on the best. Then again my head is full of the law and other information that I picked up. Its done now.

I was in Kevin St and the boys arrested a dwarf for jumping on the Inspectors car roof while a drunken row was going. They put him in the cell. Later I arrested a big fat tinker woman for throwing a brick through a pub window, they would not give her more porter. I put her in the same cell as I did not notice the dwarff , she later alleged rape by him. It fizzled out. I got a lot of stick and laughing after.

The inspector was from donegal and is now 101. A rough fecker fond of whiskey. He has a big Paugeot new car. The down and outs used to sleep in the crashed cars parked in the yard. I was coming in one cold night a drunk woman came in and I pointed to the Peugeot. saying nothing. She rolled in for the night. At 5 am he was driving home through O Connell st. to north side. He discovered her and threw her out after she wet the back seat. He was ripping. If he had found out I pointed her in to it I would be in trouble.

I was aLways very busy with the paper work, I regret not playing more tricks on guards and the public. But I did plaY A LOT OF TRICKS.

The whole months of July and August was taken up writing gun licences and processing the cash fees. I investigated a lot of accidents and child deaths.

I remember one Sunday morning having to tell and old man in Oliver Bond Flats that his son has died in England. Hard job. I had to go with a priest to a family in Tydavnet. To tell them the son died after falling from a bridge in Switzerland. The Swiss were about to cremate him but I stopped them. They collected and brought him home. Had I not stopped them I would been blamed. I think he was Traynor about 1985 RIP to them

Sir, in case you think I'm some Dublin scrote who just hates Cops let me tell you.

My brother's a Cop. My best mate is a Cop. I have ten 1st cousins who are Cops including 3 from the same family.

The 2 lads I meet on Sundays for a pint are former Cops.

I probably have more Cops crawling out my ass than any other man in the entire Free State.

I still think the behaviour of that force in the last 12 months amounts to treason against the Irish people and I've told every one of the above-mentioned that fact.

Surprise surprise, the Examiner is reporting that The Monk has suddenly found himself a guest of the Spanish police in a money laundering investigation.

The Gardai is obsolete when it comes to efficiency. 80 % of paper work has to be done by the member.
For example Guards hate accidents. If 2 hours is spent at the scene. 200 hours is spent with paperwork. If a witness lives in Kerry, a file has tp be sent there to get a statement taken and when it comes back after 2 months it will be faulty.

As Sergeant in charge of Clones I spent the whole month of July and August writing out gun licences and lodging the money. About 300 licences.
amendments new applications.. The other problem is taking away staff. I had a unit of six detectives which I trainer up to be very good investigators.
Next thing a crime would happen in Donegal and my staff would be called away leaving me with only 2.

An odd guard would have a big mouth and I would have to keep key informatjon away from him. If he got drink up the town he would slobber it out.

Will you be campaigning in scotstown....knockatallon and emyvale

Sometimes a big crime would happen and I would be trailing. When the trail would get hot I would have to initiate fake leads to throw them off the good one. If the bosses found out I was hot, they would put a pet in charge hoping he would improve his promotion
CV. I had cases stolen a few times but I got cute. I would arrest the suspect and solve the crime. My bosses would ring me to tell me I should have told them in advance. You can guess my reply. But there was no one in authority to cop that. I was blacken as a lone wolf and at promotion they did not want to know me.

A Garda who worked in immigration.......

The order is the
Department of Justice immigration section.
The District Superintendent just passes the file on. In Cavan I was the next for immigration with a detective and uniform guard using my office for point of contact with them. All immigrants were reported on every year. Just to inform the dept on any changes or deaths etc. New arrivals were processed.

Most times I would glance the documents and write report form Garda X is forwarded for your information and sign it. Failed medical students would want to stay. They would have to go. In Dundalk there was a uniform Guard reporting to a uniform Sergeant. I was involved in deporting two. One was a medical student who got a bad fail. He was trying to get a local girl friend but he got him out before it developed. A bad article.

Mary lou must have dropped a quarter to her buddy drew Harris to get the monk hobbled .......all the more reason to vote for the monk

Vote number 1 for the monk and Val Martin to make Ireland great again 👌.. Nothing else has worked it's time to send these guys in to show our utter contempt

There was a part oc
County Meath around me included last time. It is gone now, 300 votes gone,

The happiest station I was ever in was Balbriggan. It was a country division then.
Got promoted there and sent to Scotstown. The people were lovely there. I did station orderly in Ashbourne and heard a racket. A jackdaw came down the chimney. The fishermen would go mad on drink when ashore and would end up in the cell. One lad decided to eat the bed. He ate some of it. Had to get a doctor and sedate the bucko. I wanted to go out for a few days with them trawling but was advised that I might never get back.

You need just one in six votes to get a quota.

and in fact would get elected with one in ten, and possibly fewer first preferences

@valamhic:

just posted your 1st manifesto draft (post 44) to an errant Sinn Feiner friend in Cavan. He retorted by saying you are crazy...
