McGregor doesn't seem to have even contacted one single county/City council asking for a hearing 🤷
It doesn't have to be meaningless. As much as I'm not a fan someone like McGregor - if we believe he's genuine - could shame the craven lot we call our rulers into more reasonable action. For that alone I'd cast my vote for him.
But yea in all likelihood it'll be another loon the braindead sheep will put into the Aras. My aras.

Taoiseach Michael Martin has now explicitly thrown his weight behind the former GAA Dublin football manager Jim Gavin, so presumably he will get the FF nomination.

The election is to be held on the 24th of October. Anyway while I think it would be great if we had some candidate we could get behind, nonetheless its obvious to me that its been decided that the result will be by electoral fraud.

There is no way that these huge well funded electoral machines would leave it that their Presidential candidate would only have a few weeks of an election to get their name recognition etc out there before the vote, unless they knew it was a sham and that the vote didn't matter.

Sir, are you still going to vote for Mrs Humphries just because she's of the same religion as yourself?

Keep an eye on that Connolly wan, she was quietly announced early on. Watch out for whosever posters goes up first.
I remember the last time, Mickey D announced his intention to run early and his posters were up weeks before anyone else's.
The name of "their" candidate needs to be programmed in soft and steady over time.
Hopefully my advice makes a few pound for some pleb.
I think her campaign is done at this stage!

Is anyone even going to vote in the election, full of lefties and government arse lickers.

Its one election I have no interest in.
Only hope some-one half decent gets through but the Irish establishment will make sure that doesn't happen !

Steenson or Delahanty only if on ballot.
The rest.
Meh!
Steenson for his Irish Nationalism / Irish Republicanism would be great ~ ~ I don't suppose he will be able to muster the nominations (sadly )

Jim Gavin, the former Dublin GAA manager who also served with the UN forces in Africa, as an officer in the Irish army, is the FF candidate. Heather Humphries is the Fine Gael one while Dun Loaghaire Council have declined to nominate any candidate, as have Mayo after rejecting Maria Steen.

What an unedifying selection of system hoors.

I lost all respect for the GAA as an organisation during de covid when they allowed the muzz into Croker. Rugby? Lord above never..but they were a- ok.
No disrespect to the individual athletes etc

The next few days will tell if any council will support anyone at all.

I'd say they will. Councillors are only human and this is one of the few occasions when they have a serious national role, they won't pass it up so easily. But also people like Simon Harris and Michael Martin are actually very unpopular everywhere, including in their own parties, their dictats won't be followed that enthusiastically.

Anyway its going to be decided by vote fraud so the powers that be already have the President selected.

If that is so, then conor McGregor will be nominated, no doubt with the suspicion of brown envelopes

Yes quite possibly. Anyway they will want to create an illusion of a democratic process, so the more candidates the better.

Not sure yet if they have decided on the chosen one yet, but it will be a "safe pair of hands" , that's for sure

Kerry Hopefuls
So anyway 14 people addressed a meeting of the Councillors in Kerry a few days ago, seeking a nomination for President, and these were:
Gareth Sheridan
Gareth-Sheridan.jpg

Entrepreneur Gareth Sheridan emphasises how 'prepared' he was for the meeting, in which he 'stayed on message'. He has already contacted and developed 'relationships' with many Kerry Councillors prior to this meeting.

Maria Steen
Maria-Steen.jpg

As a qualified barrister she fully understands the role of President as outlined in the 'wonderful document', the Irish Constitution. She wants to give a voice to those who feel forgotten and also emphasises the family, as outlined in said document.

William P. Allen
William P Allen better.png

Living in Drimoleague in Co.Cork he is an electrician by trade and has a 'long time ambition' to be President and represent Irish people at home and abroad.

Nick Delehanty
He articulates his "Fidelity to the Nation" and has given quite a few high profile media interviews now.

Charlotte Keenan
Charlotte-Keenan.jpg

"A farmer, artist and sports psychologist living in Castletown Geoghegan Co. Westmeath", she prioritises housing as a major issue.

Dr Donncha MacGabhann
Dr-Donncha-MacGabhann.jpg

He has lived all his life in rural Limerick, b. Knockainey 1957, and he is offering here a 'non political' voice. He wants an assembly of citizens, ongoing, about 100 people, all the time debating a set number of issues, because we don't have proper debate nowadays otherwise. A teacher, civil servant (where he worked in developing the Irish school exams and curricula at a high level) he is also an artist and has a Phd for his studies on the Book of Kells, which is also the subject of his 2022 book.

Cllr Kieran McCarthy
Councillor Kieran McCarthy.jpg

An Independent and former Mayor of Cork he has three planks for his campaign: a) Championing Irish Cultural heritage; (b) Wanting to engage more with the Irish Diaspora; (c) Connecting the Local Authorities more with the Presidency.

Keith McGrory
Keith McGrory.jpg

Housing is his big issue. He has studied (he has a BSc in Quantity Surveying) and built houses over the last few years (he is the Managing Director at Mc Grory Homes Ltd) and would reduce some of the modern regulations, to more it more affordable. He is from Buncrana but lives in Waterford.

Lorna McCormack
Lorna McCormack.jpeg

She emphasises children and community leadership and wants the Presidency to lead that. She is proud of President Higgins's role in the arts and as an artist herself she would like to continue that kind of tradition. From Ratoath in Co. Meath she is well known for championing the historic role of wool in a nationwide program of workshops and school presentations. Climate Change is also a major issue for her, as an EU Climate Pact Ambassador.

Walter Ryan-Purcell
Walter-Ryan-Purcell.jpg

A farmers son, living in Killarney, he works as an agricultural adviser. He is conscious of the 'rough stuff' coming down the line internationally and sees his Presidency as having a mediation type role in that troubled times scenario.

Dr Cora Stack
A Lecturer in Mathematics at the Technological University of Dublin her passion is 'community rebuilding'. She is also "passionate about human rights, justice, just law, concerned about the harmful organisational and cultural effects of professional and workplace gaslighting...I have spent years researching and studying organisational behaviour and gaslighting in investigations in the public service." She played a powerpoint for the Councillors.

Gerben Uunk
He wants to protect all living beings, not just humans, plants and animals 'also need our respect'. A former Councillor in Amsterdam he is involved with ipaw.ie and has also worked as a movie extra.

Gearoid Duffy
He wants to a) 'reintroduce the whole concept of human rights', both here in Ireland and abroad; b) wants Ireland to be again a reference point to the world for those who seek peace by peaceful means; c) express a concern for 'the democratic process in the country' and made a pitch on that to the Councillors. He works in the public service in Cork in a water treatment plant.

Sarah Louise Mulligan
She has a degree in English and a Masters in Entrepreneurship and also has a qualification in acupuncture. Politically active, she is a strong supporter in Ireland of President Trump and tweets very actively on most of the issues of the day. She has sung in bands and also appeared in TV and films as an actress. She wants to "make Ireland great again" and "drain the Dail swamp".

Most of those clowns don't even understand the role of the office they're trying for.

Anyway I got a chance to watch a video of the presentations of Nick Delahunty and Maria Steen.

Nick was mostly talking about his youth and engaging with youth, he mentioned at one point a good immigration policy and thats it, he didn't articulate, he didn't condemn mass immigration at all or anything like that.

Maria certainly didn't talk about any of that, it was as a mother that we heard a lot about. She was pressed about abortion and such issues but said she has no wish to revisit divisive referenda campaigns and instead talked about the common ground she has with opponents of hers in those campaigns etc.

The only way a td would support conor is an envelope
LOCALLY it is speculated that the aggro to government ministers is the refusal by them to allow Connor mc gregor to run as even if he lost it would expose the support for a change in the colonisation of Ireland by "" refugees"".
and at all costs the talking points for the election cannot be """controversial"" in order to hide the unrest in the country.

Maria Steen has announced that she has the support of 10 Oireachtas members, and was photographed with some including the two Aontu TDs and Senator Ronan Mullen. She obviously needs 20 though for a nomination on that route.

Must be harder to rig Presedential campaigns so , hence Peter Casey votes catching them off guard previously

Hopefully another 10 Oireachtas members back her. She seems very intelligent and capable. The Irish political establishment will be showing themselves up as a complete stitch-up if they don't, but of course the Irish Political Establishment will almost certainly not do the correct thing as usual !

She does not have a prayer --if she was gold plated with half a dozen doctorates she still would not have a prayer .
the system is deliberately designed to limit the winner to belonging to FF or FG/LABOUR.
no independent person will get the job .
