Just a few Birds

Jetting in from 7,000 miles away, they are the latest threat to our homes and valuables.
Once a scourge of Premier League footballers and celebrities, a new wave of Chilean 'burglary tourists' is flying in to target middle class areas of Britain, MailOnline can reveal.
Taking advantage of lax tourist visa rules, they hire cars and buy tools and balaclavas before setting about scoping high-value properties in areas like Cheshire's famed 'Golden Triangle'.
Since the start of 2022, British police have arrested at least 20 Chilean nationals, a MailOnline investigation has revealed.
Swift action by police has led to three gangs being jailed for a total of almost 25 years in recent weeks, with all facing deportation back to Chile once they are released.
The burglary gangs are part of an international phenomenon, with 57 Chileans held in Spain – a common stop-off point for South American criminals bound for the UK.

Another 21 suspects were held in California earlier this year, with the US a top target for the gangs.

Some of the Chileans coming to Britain to launch raids were allowed in despite having criminal records in their home country.

MPs and burglary victims have now called for tougher action to bar known Chilean criminals from coming to Britain.

Esther McVey, Conservative MP for Tatton in Cheshire, where affluent neighbourhoods are among the gangs' prime targets, said more needed to be done.

'Clearly there has been a failure in the border controls as these people should never have been allowed into the country,' she told MailOnline.

'Steps need to be taken to ensure this doesn't happen again. In the meantime these criminals need to be deported immediately.'

In the latest case this week, two women who flew to Britain from Chile and targeted a home in a Cheshire 'millionaires' row' for designer handbags and jewellery were jailed.
The pair broke into Bernadette Pinkerton's £3million lakeside home on June 1 after being picked up by a male accomplice, a court heard.
Beautician Francisca Santana – who claimed she originally came to Britain to watch the King's Coronation – and mother-of-three Rosa Dotes-Perez snatched up to £15,000 worth of items, including precious gifts given to the 62-year-old.
The pair both had criminal records back in Chile – in the case of Dotes-Perez, 19 previous convictions for theft.

@Myles O'Reilly & @Fishalt are correct she needs to be much better protected. the public space is a risky hazardous proposition.
Ok, so I feel like I'm having a bet both ways a bit with all this, but that's because I only partially agree with both yourself and Myles.

Firstly, at the end of the day, you can't rely on the authorities to save you from violent goons and sociopaths. They will always turn up ipso facto. At that point the thing has happened. You've been robbed, maimed beaten and/or killed. Personal protection is, despite what anybody says, a personal responsibility. Criminals don't fear the law. It's in the name.

That said, I fully understand that not everybody has the proclivity and spirit for violence--either as a means of self-defence, or of any kind. I have known stone giants with fists the size of my face who quite literally won't use fly spray could never hurt anyone or anything, and I have known whippets who weigh in at 60KG soaking wet who are addicted to bloodshed and generally go about looking to shed blood for the blood god. It's one of those things. You never know who's going to get it, and there are all shades in between.

The Nigerian Black Axe mafia syndicate first emerged in the 1970s when it was involved in ritual murders but has evolved into one of the biggest fraud gangs operating across the world, often recruiting intelligent gang members, such as computer specialists, in universities.

Last week gardaí announced that a cross-border investigation into the organisation resulted in 47 people being arrested in Ireland up until May for money laundering linked offences.

Me and many more are keeping MINIMAL money in banks. Just enough for the small recurring bills like $35 a month for unlimited car washes etc etc.

There are people in North Antrim who also are racial supremacists and believe also again that they are from the Lost Tribes of Israel. It would be interesting to see what would unfold if these Nigerians were to troll around their neck of the woods.
That silly aul lad was no match for them. It'd be a good match-up with the lost tribe Prods for sure.
