Ghibellinism was the belief that the Roman emperor, not the pope, ruled over Italy & Europe.

This was contrasted with Guelphism, which advocated for the kingdoms of Europe to respond only to the pope.

In 'Men Among the Ruins' Julius Evola advocated for a return to Ghibellinism, presumably in the form of a politician like Adolf Hitler.

This doesn't mean you throw religion to the dogs... on the contrary; Ghibellinism is deeply religious, probably even more so than Guelphism but it is a religion of the state.

Why would Irish or anyone else look to either for leadership. The italians are going extinct even faster than the Irish.

I think he would have rather consider Hitler as a Bonapartist figure rather than a Ghibeline one.

I am not sure if placing a Sacral value on the State is always wise also.

I think Hitler was a Bonapartist, yes, but maybe the next time National Socialism is attempted someone who is more of a Ghibelline emperor can be put in the place Hitler earlier used.

What is wrong with doing religion through the state?
