Well the solution is pretty obvious from a government perspective.
They will never ever admit to being wrong.
So the fact checkers will say false and misinformation etc.

As you say, utterly incredible, but it is the EU, and it illustrates only too well what happens when institutions gather too much power around themselves with no accountability.

It has long been obvious there there is a hidden hand driving all we hear about climate change, glyphosphate etc and this peels back a layer although we now need to know who or what is inducing the commission to act this way.

The Environmental Protection Agency in the US has decided to stop monitoring GHG emissions from fossil fueled power stations -

On June 11, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed to repeal greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions standards for fossil fuel-fired power plants promulgated under Section 111 of the Clean Air Act. Under EPA’s initiative to Power the Great American Comeback, this proposed action would help restore American energy dominance by removing unnecessary burdens on fossil fuel-fired electric generating units (EGUs).

It also tells us that

EPA is further proposing that GHG emissions from fossil fuel-fired power plants do not contribute significantly to dangerous air pollution.
