There are three quite small countries on the northern coast of South America - Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. These are tropical countries with rainforest. It's a region we know little or nothing about. Venezuela borders Guyana and Brazil to its southeast. Guyana has English as an official language as it was a former colony. There's only about 700,000 people there. It's in the Commonwealth. There were big oil reserves discovered off the coast recently that American companies have the license to explore. If they get these reserves moving it will undermine OPEC's control of the oil market. Remember, Europe is currently buying Russian diesel laundered through India.America made an agreement with Venezuela to start refilling its strategic petroleum reserve (which was drained to reduce domestic prices at the pump) but this is delayed a bit. Given "increasing geopolitical risks" it's important that the US build up all its reserves of natural resources, which makes this agreement a priority. They're currently preoccupied with trannies and strong women of color so they're still getting around to actually refilling the reserve - there's only a dribble going into it currently. This reserve serves the same purpose as the food mountains used to in the EEC - if there's a major war it will be used to buffer the shock of constrictions in international trade, to facilitate the mobilisation effort, and to support the retooling of the economy (but the necessity of it is lost to memory now). Petroleum and ammunition are the most important resources in modern warfare unless it goes nuclear. The weaker the position of a superpower, the greater the temptation to go this route. The West isn't in a position for mass mobilisation, its morale and capabilities have been gravely degraded over the past couple of decades, thus the argument that it will prefer appeasement to confrontation when it comes down to it. The Americans have 8 aircraft carriers underway in disputed zones presently, with three others in drydock under repair - they have no reserves.Venezuela is an ally of Russia in all but frills and ribbons. Its good friend may be encouraging this to overload the foreign policy and military portfolio of the Yanks. Perhaps Nuland can be moved to the South American portfolio? She's bound to come up with a cunning plan.
I'm sorry Sir, that is way too long for me to read.

A Country on the Top right-hand side of of South America. Time For War Now.
Thanks Clarke.

Now that Deadlinsky is on the gurney it is time to gear up for a war the piss pants might win as there is an election coming.

So time for posters to pick sides and this will get us into the new year .

Some posters seem unhappy at Gaza and have gone to ground.

@Ruck Da Fules! @dropkickmejeebus. And other cherished voices.
I’m out in Turkey getting new teeth!

Just an illustrative note on the USN.

'Recently, due to the international wars simultaneously in Ukraine and Israel, and high tension in the Taiwan strait/South China Sea, the U.S. Navy had an almost unprecedented 8 Carriers at sea at the same time. The only three not at sea were unavailable due to long-term maintenance. Normally, the Navy might have three or four carriers at sea at one time. Navy ships and crews continually operating wear out rapidly. Typical deployments last 6 months. The USS Ford has been deployed for 7 months and SECDEF just extended its deployment in the eastern Med for the second time. The longer the deployment the more worn out the crew and the higher rates of equipment failures become. As deployments go on for longer and longer, the size of the crew shrinks due to illness, pregnancy, injury, and suicides. Typically ships returning to home port after a lengthy deployment are missing a substantial number of the deploying crew. This puts much more stress and strain on the remaining crewmen. The international situation with multiple wars demanding our attention simultaneously is eroding our Navy’s readiness at a high rate. When the ships and their crews wear out, there will be no alternative but to return them to port for re-fit and rest for the crews regardless of whatever pressing mission the ship is on. That the Navy does not have enough ships is now obvious to even the most casual observer when multiple hot spots in distant seas occur. When the proverbial stuff hits the fan, the very first question everyone, including the President asks is, “Where is the nearest carrier?”'

I think Roosevelt is still available to sortie from the US West Coast. Also the ME crisis has passed. The opportunity for Iran has passed them by if they ever had one. Hamas in Gaza is being crushed and no other nation wants to intervene.

But I think US Marine MEUs can be used for Guyana. The F-35 is being deployed on them - the ""Lightening carrier" gives them more options.

The US can also use their bombers and cruise missiles at will.

Madera will get these 48 warheads of 200 kilotons each if he is dumb enough to attack Guyana.

The US are just looking for an excuse.

'The presidents of Venezuela and Guyana pledged after direct talks on Thursday not to resort to force to settle a long-simmering – and recently reheated – territorial dispute over the oil-rich Essequibo region, a joint statement said.'

Venezuela, Guyana agree not to 'use force' to settle dispute over oil-rich region - France 24

Well, this seems to have been resolved. Maduro still has an option but the logistics of an invasion are beyond him presently. Looks like Guyana will be spending some of that new oil money on advanced weapon systems and not a lot of it on putting a road through to their regional "friend".
