Ukraine.

The gaslighting was enormous regards the actual meat grinder that was being done, was against the Ukranian side in reality. Either way this isn't a tank on tank battle like Kursk in 1943, it is a tank versus drone and artillery scenario, where they ran out of artillary, where an old russian tank with welded cages around it, could be far more effective then the latest tank the germans had to offer on the field.

What was wanted from germany was the Taurus missile system https://www.politico.eu/article/why-germany-scholz-rattled-sending-taurus-missile-ukraine/ to attack Russia directly, and get an over the top response from them, to push propaganda and get a response from the west, escalation, like the Storm shadow missile, which they have near run out of. Scholz is a spastic traitor, of a long line of spastic german traitors, but even he wouldn't give them such, as unlike the french or brits, they did not want german military to be directly involved in attacking Russia, which would need to be, as the ukrainians cannot use them themselves. I half suspect this is a one of the reasons the coalition collapsed right after Trumps election was to do with this, opposition parties like the CDU, are mad for giving them such, let alone the Russians reverse engineer it if a launch of one fails to land properly https://www.politico.eu/article/why-germany-scholz-rattled-sending-taurus-missile-ukraine/

I cannot find a decent link on such, but that failed martial law attempt in South Korea may have been about sending weapons to ukraine, as the parliament and people were completely against it, suspend the parliament, send the weapons, where otherwise parliament would have blocked it, as he is mad on side the current US administration, and certain people are getting desperate. Same with the supposed North Koreans in ukraine story was to push for allowing direct strikes on Riussia and to try gaslight the South Korean people as well, when millions of asians and a ton of Koreans have been living in current russia for hundreds of years, did they find a passport or is it because they look like east asians ?, clown stuff.
The Germans were forced into the conflict by whatever means.
They haven't forgotten about the last one.
Plus the reliability of gas and resources from Russia.

Go back 40 years and the environmental movement still had some semblance of fighting for a cause they believed in and yes, there was plenty of disregard for the environment that needed addressing. But having gained some notice the pressure groups were joined by those who lusted for power for here was a new cause by which they could break into politics without having to work their way up through the tedious mill of the traditional parties.

The environment? Ah yes, that just became an excuse to impose authoritarianism.

Ukraine ‘has ceased to exist’ – ex-commander

The country’s leadership has hollowed out the nation and turned it into a “concentration camp,” Vladimir Shylov has said

The Ukrainian state has essentially ceased to exist, is plagued by endemic institutional failure and corruption, with Kiev's troops continuing to hold on by sheer will alone, a former commander has argued. He also warned that Ukraine’s defenses could collapse, allowing Russia to march all the way to the Dnieper River.
In an interview with Novyni Live on Monday, Vladimir Shylov, former commander of the 3rd Company in the 134th Separate Territorial Defense Battalion, lashed out at Ukraine’s political leadership, stating that the country has “ceased to exist” as a functional state due to widespread graft and mismanagement.
Shylov expressed concern that these woes could allow Russian forces to increase their gains, warning that they may be able to overrun frontline positions in Donbass and reach as far as the Dnieper River. The advances could be facilitated by internal chaos, he added, stating “In our country, everything is a mess...the front is holding only thanks to the Ukrainian people.”

Ukrainian leaders have transformed the nation into a “concentration camp,” Shylov claimed, highlighting systemic failures across all branches of government, including the legislative, executive, and judicial sectors.
Shylov also specifically criticized the country’s leader, Vladimir Zelensky, for what he described as a blatant neglect of his defense responsibilities, alleging that his government had ignored Western warnings of a Russian offensive prior to the special military operation, resulting in the inadequate preparation of Kiev’s forces.
The ex-commander went on to comment on Ukraine’s ongoing incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region, portraying it as a political ploy without any real strategic military value. He argued that the Ukrainian offensive had turned out to be a symbolic gesture which does not compensate for the substantial territorial losses Ukraine has suffered, particularly in Donbass.
Over the past several months, Russia has made significant gains in Donbass and elsewhere, with President Vladimir Putin noting that regular advances now amount to kilometers rather than hundreds of meters.
Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov said earlier this month that Ukraine had lost one million service members since February 2022, with more than half of that number in 2024 alone, adding that Moscow’s forces are in full control of the strategic initiative.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian battlefield commanders continue to complain of a critical shortage of manpower, despite Kiev implementing stricter mobilization rules and lowering the draft age from 27 to 25 this spring.

Hungary loses EU funding amid rule-of-law dispute

Brussels claims the country has failed to tackle corruption and implement reforms, while Budapest says it has met all requirements

The EU has permanently denied Hungary access to over €1 billion ($1.04 billion) in funds as of January 1, 2025, due to an ongoing dispute over alleged rule-of-law violations, Welt reported on Thursday citing a spokeswoman for the European Commission. This marks the first perpetual loss of funding by an EU member state under the bloc’s “conditionality” mechanism, according to the outlet.
Introduced in 2020, the mechanism allows Brussels to suspend funding to member states which it believes violate the bloc’s rule-of-law principles.
The EU has pressured Hungary to change its laws in order to tackle alleged conflicts of interest and corruption for some time, launching “conditionality” proceedings against it back in 2022 and blocking its EU funding.
Brussels has cited alleged infringements of public procurement rules and a lack of control and transparency as reasons for the move. Hungary has since launched reforms and cleared some of the funds, but around €19 billion remain frozen.

In July 2024, the European Commission released its fifth Rule of Law report, which highlighted that Hungary still failed to meet EU democratic standards. The report pointed to persistent failures by the country in tackling issues such as corruption, political financing, conflicts of interest, and media independence. Budapest was told it needed to complete reforms by the end of the year or “the first tranche of discontinued commitments,” amounting to €1.04 billion, would expire. The forfeited funds were earmarked for the development of economically disadvantaged regions within the country.
According to media reports, the next €1.1 billion tranche intended for Hungary expires at the end of 2025.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban argues that his country has fulfilled all EU requirements, and has vowed to fight to protect money “that is ours.” In mid-December, he threatened to veto the EU’s next seven-year budget unless Hungary regains access to the blocked funds. The 2028-2035 budget requires unanimity among the 27 member states to be approved. Negotiations on the budget are expected to begin in mid-2025.

Amid the dispute with Brussels and in order to fill financing gaps, Hungary has turned to other funding sources, including loans from China. Last April, Budapest took a 3-year $1 billion loan from China Development Bank, Export-Import Bank of China and Bank of China Hungarian unit to help finance infrastructure, transport, and energy projects. The Hungarian Debt Management Agency said in July that more such loans could be incoming as Hungary’s economic links with the Asian nation grow.

The suspect in the Tesla Cybertruck explosion on New Year’s Day, identified as Master Sgt. Matthew Alan Livelsberger, was a veteran US special forces operative who not only deployed to Afghanistan twice but also served in Ukraine, AP reports, citing the US Army.
The blast outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday left seven people with minor injuries. Livelsberger died at the scene from an allegedly self-inflicted gunshot wound before the truck exploded, according to Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill.
The US Army confirmed on Thursday that Livelsberger enlisted in 2006 and had served with the 10th Special Forces Group based in Stuttgart, Germany since 2012. His military career included multiple deployments to Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, and Congo, earning him numerous awards, including five Bronze Stars.

The US Army also confirmed, according to AP, that Livelsberger was “serving in Ukraine” at some point, although the exact timing is unclear.
“US Army Special Operations Command is cooperating fully with federal and state law enforcement agencies, but as a matter of policy, we will not comment on ongoing investigations,” the US Army stated.
Law enforcement officials indicated that Livelsberger had packed the rented Tesla Cybertruck with fireworks, camping fuel, and other explosive materials. Despite the explosion’s proximity to the Trump hotel, the sheriff claimed that there is no conclusive evidence of political or ideological motives.
In a photo posted by his wife on Facebook in 2016, Livelsberger is seen wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with a Ukrainian coat of arms and a nationalist slogan. In a comment on LinkedIn, he responded to an offer for work in Ukraine, stating that he knew a “top” special forces medical sergeant who had been “looking for just this opportunity.”

Livelsberger was on leave from his assignment in Germany during the incident. His wife reportedly told investigators that he had been absent from their Colorado Springs home following an argument about infidelity over the holidays.
As a Green Beret, Livelsberger was based at Fort Liberty (formerly known as Fort Bragg) in North Carolina. Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who killed 14 people in a vehicle attack in New Orleans on Wednesday morning, was also stationed at Fort Liberty and had deployed to Afghanistan. The Army is currently investigating whether the two men knew each other.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has claimed that an injured soldier credited him with restoring his ability to walk, adding that the tale should inspire his troops to “believe in Ukraine and believe in yourself.”
In an interview with the state-controlled United News telethon on Thursday, Zelensky was asked to share an inspirational story to motivate Ukrainians to continue to fight against Russia.
He recounted meeting an injured soldier who had been taken to the US for treatment.
“I took a photo with him. He didn’t walk,” the Ukrainian leader said. “I just got a message before the interview, in which he said: ‘the president came and I started walking. Let him come more often.’”
“I think, of course, that this result did not depend on me, [but] on the doctors, but it was a pleasant moment,”
Zelensky continued.

Zelensky admits more troops are deserting

It is unclear exactly how many Ukrainian soldiers have been injured since the conflict with Russia escalated in February 2022, as Kiev does not publish casualty figures. Zelensky claimed last month that 43,000 Ukrainian troops have been killed and 370,000 injured, although he insisted that the latter figure includes those with repeat and minor wounds.
The death toll put forward by Zelensky is widely seen as unrealistic. Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov said earlier this month that Ukraine had lost one million service members to death and injury since February 2022, with more than half of that number coming in 2024 alone.
Ukrainian battlefield commanders continue to complain of a critical shortage of manpower, despite Kiev implementing stricter mobilization rules and lowering the draft age from 27 to 25 this spring.
Zelensky admitted during Thursday’s interview that desertion increased significantly last year, saying that “people are getting tired” and “there are not many reserves.” Back in November, AP reported that 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers had officially been charged with desertion. However, the actual numbers could be twice as high, according to estimates published by other media outlets.
The US, Ukraine’s largest military backer, has urged Kiev to lower its draft age to 18 in order to bolster troop numbers on the front lines. According to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Zelensky intends to comply with this request in the near future.

Possible directions - Kursk region, Kharkiv region near Izyum, or Belgorod region
He still has 4-5 fully equipped motorized brigades staffed mostly by motivated nationalists
Something similar to what Hitler did in Ardennes

By the end of the day, published videos are confirming the loss of 43 Ukrainian armored vehicles (tanks, APCs, AFVs)
Effectively it is one fully equipped mechanized infantry battalion(11 tanks, 38 APC/AFVs) lost for nothing
Losses of military personnel are also big
The only achievement today is the captured bushes near Bardin village, which will be soon cleared by bombs because making trenches in frozen soil is a challenge

Zelensky threatens chief political rival with criminal charges – media

The Ukrainian leader believes he will win the next election only if unchallenged by former General Valery Zaluzhny, Telegraf reports

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky could press criminal charges against former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, should he wish to run for the presidency, Kiev-based Telegraf reported on Wednesday. Zelensky has refused to hold elections or leave office after cancelling a vote scheduled for May 2024, citing the conflict with Russia. A new date for the vote has yet to be set.
According to Telegraf, Zelensky has already decided to run in the next election, with the earliest possible date being May 2025. The timing depends on developments in the conflict and whether US President-elect Donald Trump manages to mediate. “With a trust rating of 52%, Zelensky still has a chance to win,” Telegraf noted.
However, Zelensky’s chances plunge if Zaluzhny, who is currently Kiev’s ambassador to the UK and is considered the Ukrainian leader’s “main rival,” enters the race.

Zelensky is reportedly using a carrot-and-stick strategy to dissuade Zaluzhny from running. His administration is said to have offered the former general the top spot in Zelensky’s party and the role of parliamentary speaker if he agrees to back the sitting leader.
If Zaluzhny runs for president, however, he could face criminal investigations, including a probe into the 2022 fall of the city of Kherson to Russian forces, the outlet reported. Sources suggested that Zaluzhny’s name could be tied to the case at a politically opportune moment.
The entire Kherson Region voted to join Russia in a referendum in autumn 2022, but the city itself was later abandoned by Russian forces. The Defense Ministry cited a strategic regrouping and logistical issues as the reasons for the withdrawal.
Zaluzhny has not disclosed his political intentions, telling Telegraf: “First, we preserve the state. Then, we talk politics.” One member of former Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko’s team described him as a “mythic figure” for many, an “ordinary man” embodying the national spirit.
Zelensky’s trust rating has dropped from 90% at the start of the conflict in 2022 to 52% in December 2024, according to the Kiev International Institute of Sociology. The decline has come amid battlefield setbacks and a controversial mobilization campaign.
Russia has stated that peace talks with Zelensky will only be possible if he wins an election to restore his legitimacy. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said the only legitimate power in Ukraine right now is the parliament and its speaker.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has lashed out at Vladimir Zelensky, declaring that the Ukrainian leader’s “begging and blackmailing” needs “to stop.” Relations between Bratislava and Kiev soured when Ukraine cut off the flow of Russian gas earlier this month.
“I’m not here to hold hands with Zelensky, and I’ll admit, I’m sick of him sometimes,” Fico said at a meeting of the Slovak parliament’s foreign affairs committee on Friday.
“He roams Europe begging and blackmailing, asking others for money,” Fico continued, adding: “This needs to stop.”
Fico has long been a critic of Western aid to Kiev, arguing that Ukraine cannot hope to defeat Russia on the battlefield and must instead seek a diplomatic solution to the conflict. Immediately after taking office in 2023, Fico halted military aid to Ukraine and vowed to veto the country’s potential accession to NATO.

Slovakia threatens to block Ukraine aid over gas transit dispute

Fico and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban have both angered Zelensky by defying the EU consensus and meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During a meeting in Moscow last month, Fico offered to host peace talks in Slovakia, an offer that Putin said he is “not against.”

With relations already strained, Ukraine deepened its spat with Slovakia when it refused to extend its transit contract with Russia’s Gazprom beyond the end of 2024, effectively cutting off the flow of Russian natural gas to some EU countries, namely Austria, Italy, and Slovakia. Landlocked Slovakia depends on Russian gas to meet about 60% of its demand.
Fico has demanded compensation from Kiev, and has vowed to retaliate, potentially by cutting off electricity supplies and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
Slovakia exported 2.4 million megawatt-hours of electricity to Ukraine in the first 11 months of 2024, according to data from the Slovak grid operator.
“Neither Slovakia nor the EU is at war, we have no reason to tolerate Zelensky’s adventures, especially looking at the aid Slovakia and the EU are providing to Ukraine,” Fico said in a video address posted on Facebook on Wednesday.

Despite receiving assurances from Moscow that Slovakia would continue to receive Russian gas via the TurkStream pipeline, Fico said that he would travel to Brussels to meet with Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen “to wake him up from his sweet sleep, because we have a ‘bloody’ serious problem.”
Fico and Jorgensen met on Thursday to discuss the effect of the gas cutoff on energy prices, and agreed to hold further consultations.
