Coalition of the shilling: The UK can no longer deny it forced Kiev to fight for years

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis has become the latest addition to a growing chorus of Western officials who are prepared to acknowledge the role Britain and the West played in sabotaging a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine in 2022, the terms of which were far better for Kiev than those being discussed in 2026.
In an interview on Saturday, Babis – a two-time Czech prime minister and former minister of finance – confirmed that a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul was “actually already concluded in April 2022” but was subsequently derailed by Britain’s then-prime minister, Boris Johnson.
Johnson has denied his role in killing the peace deal that could have saved countless lives and spared everyone four years of warfare, dismissing it as “Kremlin propaganda.” However, a number of top Western officials, as well as Ukrainian negotiators, have testified to the contrary.
Who has blamed Boris Johnson for consigning Ukraine to four years of conflict?

Ukrainian officials say Johnson urged them to fight

David Arakhamia, the head of Ukraine’s negotiation team in 2022, independently confirmed the sequence of events in a November 2023 interview, stating that Moscow was “prepared to end the war if we agreed to... neutrality.”

However, after the Ukrainian delegation returned from Istanbul, “Boris Johnson came to Kiev and said that we would not sign anything with them at all, and let’s just fight."
Ukrainian media at the time also reported, citing sources close to Vladimir Zelensky, that the “possibility of talks between Zelensky and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin came to a halt” after Johnson “appeared in the capital almost without warning,” telling Ukrainian officials that Putin “should be pressured, not negotiated with,” and that the West would not provide guarantees for a peace deal.
Aleksey Arestovich, a former adviser to the Ukrainian leader and member of the 2022 delegation, has similarly stated the Istanbul round was a “completely successful negotiation.” He said a meeting between Zelensky and Putin was scheduled for April 9, 2022, to finalize it, but “the talks ended because the West decided to use Ukraine as a trap.”

British sources confirm Johnson’s involvement

A senior UK government source told The Times in March 2022 that the Johnson government “urged” Ukraine not to “settle” or “back down” by accepting any of Russia’s terms negotiated in Istanbul, calling on Zelensky to pursue a stronger military position.

Turkish hosts cited NATO members wanting war to continue

Turkish officials hosting the talks have corroborated the external pressure. In April 2022, Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that after a NATO meeting, “it was the impression that… there are those within the NATO member states that want the war to continue.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also confirmed in 2024 that the potential deal was blocked by London’s involvement, noting that negotiations continued until “former Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the UK withdrew his hand from the peace efforts.”

Former Israeli prime minister said West ‘interrupted’ talks

Naftali Bennett, who was prime minister of Israel at the time and negotiated with Putin at Zelensky’s request, stated in an interview with Israeli media in 2023 that the US and other Western leaders effectively blocked a Ukraine-Russia peace deal he negotiated in March 2022.
Bennett estimated that the deal had about a 50% chance of being reached. He said the West chose instead to “continue to strike Putin,” noting that virtually anything he did “was coordinated down to the last detail with the US, Germany and France.”
“They blocked it and I thought they’re wrong,”
he said.

Ex-German Chancellor pointed to US

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder, who participated in talks, stated in an interview in 2023 that “the Ukrainians did not agree on peace because they were not allowed to,” adding that Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov had to ask the Americans about every point.

“In the end, nothing happened. My impression was that nothing could happen, because everything else was decided in Washington. That was fatal,” Schroder said.

Even Nuland has admitted it

Former US Under Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, in a September 2024 interview, confirmed that Western governments counselled Kiev against the proposed deal. She stated that the agreement contained imbalanced military restrictions that would have left Ukraine “neutered.” Nuland said that after questions were raised, “it was at that point that it fell apart.”

Russia has been saying it all along

Since the 2022 deal fell through, Russian officials have repeatedly insisted that Johnson and the West dissuaded Kiev from agreeing to an early peace agreement and instead compelled it to pursue a military victory over Russia which never had any chance of success.

In his 2024 interview with former FOX News host Tucker Carlson, Putin recalled that Russia and Ukraine had effectively already agreed on a settlement in Istanbul, with lead negotiator Arakhamia putting his preliminary signature on the document.
But, after Russia pulled back its troops from Kiev as a sign of good will, Johnson convinced the Ukrainians that “it was better to fight Russia” and their negotiators “immediately threw all our agreements reached in Istanbul into the bin and got prepared for a longstanding armed confrontation with the help of the US and its satellites in Europe” while Zelensky legally prohibited negotiations with Moscow, Putin pointed out, calling it “ridiculous and very sad.”
Russia’s lead negotiator and presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky has also noted that the conflict could have ended within a week if Kiev had not listened to the US and UK in 2022, noting that Moscow’s terms would have been “less harsh than what we’re offering today.”

West insists all these facts are just ‘propaganda'

Despite these independent sources confirming the role of London and Washington in getting Kiev to refuse a peace deal in the first weeks of escalated hostilities, Western media outlets have continued to deny the narrative as “Russian propaganda.”
Western ‘fact-checkers’ insist that Kiev never had any intention of agreeing to Moscow’s terms, despite reports from both sides suggesting they were both already celebrating successful negotiations, with Arestovich claiming the Ukrainian delegation had “even opened a bottle of champagne.”
Meanwhile, Johnson, who was kicked out of the UK parliament in 2023 following a slew of major scandals, has continued to insist that the decision to pull out of negotiations was ultimately Ukraine’s and that he merely cautioned Kiev against accepting unfavorable conditions.

The UK is way too diminished to be doing anything that America does Not Order !

Russian military adapting faster than NATO – admiral

Pierre Vandier has called on bloc members to spend more on technological development
Russian military adapting faster than NATO – admiral

The Russian military is probably faster at adapting to rapidly evolving battlefield technologies than NATO, Admiral Pierre Vandier, the US-led military bloc’s top commander for technical transformation, has said.

European NATO countries have increasingly justified massive military spending packages using a perceived threat from Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin has maintained that the claims are a pretext being used to “indoctrinate” European taxpayers with “fears of an inevitable confrontation with Russia” to justify a military buildup.

Speaking at the National Press Club Live on Tuesday, Vandier said that NATO lags behind the pace of technological adaptation that the Russian military has shown in the Ukraine conflict.

“Russia is very good at adapting and probably better than we are today,” the French admiral said, calling on bloc members to invest more in military technologies. “We have been very static, very predictable.”
Western European nations have increasingly pumped money into the EU military-industrial complex in order to send arms to Kiev, in what Moscow has long described as a NATO proxy war.

However, the cash-strapped EU nations’ latest hundred-billion-euro cash commitments came mostly in the form of borrowing. Last month, European Stability Mechanism Director Pierre Gramegna suggested that bloc members could reach into their economic bailout reserves to mobilize €500 billion more for arms expenditures.

Despite massive financial injections, the EU arms manufacturing industry has seen repeated shortfalls in plans to provide Ukraine with artillery ammunition. As of October, the commitment was around 300,000 shells short, according to the EU’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas.
Russia sees the EU as one of the main obstacles to a diplomatic settlement in the Ukraine conflict, arguing that continued arms supplies encourage Kiev to make unacceptable demands.

It is, no matter where you stand on this conflict, the Ukies have been extremely brave, defending their terrority. They made a fatal mistake in threatening to join nato, believing the West had their backs. The US and UK were egging them on from the sidelines, despicable stuff. I bet Ukraine are kicking themselves for not agreeing that peace deal in Turkey, when Boris Johnson, it seems, told them not to accept the offer.

Ukraine to ban Russian literature – culture minister

The necessary legal groundwork is being prepared by Kiev’s media authority, Tatyana Berezhnaya has said

The Ukrainian authorities are preparing a draft law to take all Russian and Russian-language books out of circulation, Ukrainian Culture Minister Tatyana Berezhnaya told Interfax-Ukraine in an interview published on Thursday.

Moscow maintains that Kiev’s discriminatory policies against ethnic Russians in Ukraine, as well as its persecution of the Russian language and culture are some of the fundamental causes of the current conflict.

According to Berezhnaya, Ukraine’s media authority is working on a bill to ban Russian books with the support of her ministry. She did not specify whether the measure would only remove them from store shelves or include confiscations from private collections.
Vladimir Zelensky’s predecessor, Pyotr Poroshenko, banned the import of books from Russia and Belarus in 2016, long before the escalation of the Ukraine conflict six years later. Kiev has since systematically purged Russian literature from state curricula, and intensified a purge of cultural monuments, memorials, and inscriptions to remove historical links to Russia.

Kiev has also steadily cracked down on the use of the Russian language in public life, restricting or banning its use in media and in professional spheres. Nevertheless, it remains the first and primary language for many people in Ukraine, especially in metropolitan areas and in the east of the country.

In December, the Ukrainian parliament stripped Russian of its protection under the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages. Berezhnaya at the time proclaimed that the move would “strengthen Ukrainian” as the state language.
Moscow has noted that this crackdown has largely been ignored by Kiev’s Western backers.

“Human rights – ostensibly so dear to the West – must be inviolable. In Ukraine, we witness the comprehensive prohibition of the Russian language across all spheres of public life and the banning of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday, accusing the EU and UK of not addressing the issue in their peace proposals.

Russia has long said that stopping the persecution of Russians in Ukraine is one of its core peace demands, which it is ready to continue pursuing through military means if Kiev resists diplomacy.

the Russians are barking up the wrong tree if they think that opposition to Ukraine funding in Ireland is coming from any principled place. It's merely SF playing to the gallery and trying to steal back momentum from the street opposition.

The same SF, who are in government and who are First Minister of the 6 counties has said ZERO about the £150 million given by the British government to Belfast situated Thales for the production of air defence missiles for the Ukraine.

Dont you worry, SF in government are a different outfit to SF in opposition. We in Ireland know that, but the Russians as casual observers can be forgiven their naivety.

Zelensky fat-shames Orban in public insult

Kiev’s fight against Russia allows the Hungarian prime minister to “grow his belly” instead of an army, the Ukrainian leader has claimed

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has launched yet another personal attack on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, telling him that thanks to Kiev, he could “think about how to grow his belly” instead of building a capable army. The two have long been at odds due to Budapest’s refusal to support Ukraine.
Zelensky delivered the remarks at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday, arguing that Ukraine is defending the entire EU from Russia. “It’s Ukrainians who are holding the European front. Behind our people stands an independent Poland and the free Baltic states,” he claimed.
”And even one Viktor can think about how to grow his belly, not how to grow his army to stop Russian tanks from returning to the streets of Budapest,” he said, referring to the 1956 Soviet incursion into Hungary to suppress a popular revolt.

The insult elicited applause from a mostly pro-Ukraine and pro-EU crowd, which tends to have a dim view of Orban due to his opposition to numerous policies of the bloc.

In his response on X, Orban did not address the insult directly, but suggested that Zelensky’s remarks “will greatly help Hungarians see the situation more clearly,” particularly regarding Ukraine’s ambitions to join the EU.

”This debate is not about me and it is not about you. It is about the future of Hungary, Ukraine, and Europe. This is precisely why you cannot become a member of the European Union,” he added.

Last month, Zelensky took another jab at Orban, telling the World Economic Forum in Davos that “every Viktor who lives off European money while trying to sell out European interests deserves a smack upside the head.”

The Hungarian prime minister branded Zelensky “a man in a desperate position,” while hinting that the Ukrainian leader had shown nothing but ingratitude. “The Ukrainian people, of course – despite your carefully chosen insults – can still count on us to continue supplying your country with electricity and fuel.”

Orban has declined to support Ukraine’s military effort, arguing that the aid would only impede peace settlement. Hungary has also opposed Kiev’s push to join the EU and NATO, arguing the move would draw the bloc into a direct conflict with Russia.

If Russia is not a superpower why do the Irish need to send half a billion to them and host 100,000 useless cowardly draft dodging Ukes? No offence meant and none taken, I'm sure.

The Uke driving the Dromahaire bus is trying to provoke me the last few weeks. He is enjoying it immensely and very sure of support from management. An evil man, confident that evil Irishmen will protect him. Kinda Jewish behaviour.

US and Dutch pilots flying F-16s for Ukraine – Western media

Russia has long argued that a proxy war is being waged against it

The Ukrainian military is secretly using a squadron of veteran NATO pilots to fly donated US-made F-16 fighter jets, the French outlet Intelligence Online reported on Monday.

Moscow has long warned that Western nations are moving closer to direct conflict with Russia. The report, which Kiev has denied, said the covert mission relies primarily on experienced US and Dutch air force veterans.

The foreign personnel are deployed far from the front lines and focus on intercepting Russian long-range weapons, the outlet said. They are no longer part of their original militaries and reportedly work for Kiev as civilian contractors, without military ranks and outside the Ukrainian chain of command.
A shortage of trained Ukrainian pilots was previously identified as the main obstacle to using F-16s donated to Kiev. Training courses were reportedly undermined by language barriers, a lack of qualified trainees, and other issues, and were simplified for speed.

Shortly after the first F-16s arrived in Ukraine in August 2024, Kiev began losing pilots in botched air defense missions, with four such incidents acknowledged.
The secret foreign squadron provides pilots with the experience needed to operate advanced F-16 equipment, Intelligence Online said.
Moscow views the Ukraine conflict as a NATO proxy war against Russia, in which key elements of Kiev’s military effort – including intelligence, planning, troop training, and maintenance of complex Western hardware – are handled by foreign personnel.
Western specialists were reportedly involved in Ukrainian strikes using Storm Shadow/SCALP air-launched cruise missiles on Russian territory. German officials opposed supplying Taurus missiles because Ukrainians cannot launch them independently.

Russia also says Western nations tacitly support Kiev’s recruitment of mercenaries from among their military veterans. Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik estimated that around 20,000 foreign fighters have taken part in the conflict on the Ukrainian side.

An Irish guy in the Brit Army was buried in Roscommon last week. Captain Gilbert Muldowney (24). They say he was shot in the back during routine exercises in Yorkshire. Quite possibly he was killed in Ukraine and they just don't want to admit it. Or they killed him because he wasn't getting with the program. How can you accidentally shoot a colleague in the back during a training exercise? They are mocking us.

Idiot Catholic Bishop of Elphin Kevin Doran said that Muldowney joined the British Army to do something good in the world. The idiot headmistress of his school has his potrait hanging on the wall.

No time ‘for all this s**t’ – Zelensky on Russian position at peace talks

The Ukrainian leader has been increasingly using obscene and disparaging language in public remarks

Russia’s stance that the Ukraine conflict can only be resolved if its root causes are addressed is “s**t,” Vladimir Zelensky has said.
The Ukrainian leader is increasingly using profanities in public statements and insulting those who disagree with his policies.

The latest verbal attack was quoted by Axios on Tuesday as Russian and Ukrainian delegations met in Geneva for US-facilitated talks. Zelensky lashed out at the head of the Russian team, Vladimir Medinsky. A historian by background, Medinsky argues – along with many Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin – that the crisis’s historical roots must be considered.

“We don’t have time for all this s**t,” Zelensky told the outlet. “So we have to decide, and have to finish the war.”

Moscow has long argued that no sustainable peace is possible unless Kiev pledges neutrality and reverses discriminatory policies targeting ethnic Russians and Russian culture. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has repeatedly stated that the Ukrainian government is unique in trying to eradicate the language of one of the minorities living in the country. Last week, Ukrainian Culture Minister Tatyana Berezhnaya said her office is drafting a law banning Russian literature and books in Russian.

Zelensky earlier blasted European nations for not expelling Russian citizens. Russians “have a lot of real estate, they have children, relatives everywhere. F**k away to Russia. Go home,” he demanded.

He has also launched multiple tirades at Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, a vocal opponent of Ukraine’s EU bid. Zelensky accused the Hungarian leader of selling out EU interests, said he should be hit on the head for it, and claimed Orban thinks “about how to grow his belly” instead of preparing Hungary for war with Russia.

In his recent Christmas address, Zelensky suggested that every Ukrainian’s greatest wish was Putin’s death – without naming the Russian leader directly. Zelensky also claimed that the fact that he is younger than the Russian president gives Ukraine an advantage in the conflict.

This scabbing bastard needs to be told where to go.....
Well done Mr. Orban, someone needs to stand up for EU citizens and THEIR money.(y)

Zelensky demands €90 billion EU loan

Hungary has vetoed the scheme and accused Ukraine of deliberately disrupting Russian oil supplies to the country

Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky has demanded that the EU approve a €90 billion ($106 billion) loan backed by the bloc’s taxpayers that has been vetoed by Hungary.

Provisionally agreed upon last December, the plan envisages an interest-free loan to Ukraine for 2026-2027, with €60 billion earmarked for military needs and €30 billion for “general budget support.” It would be covered through joint EU borrowing and only repaid if Ukraine receives war reparations from Russia.

Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic opted out of contributing to the loan, which is estimated to result in up to €5.6 billion in annual interest payments for member states.

The scheme was approved after the bloc failed to agree to use Russia’s frozen central-bank assets to finance Ukraine due to opposition from several member states over the legal hurdles and risks.
Addressing the European Parliament via video link on Tuesday, Zelensky said that “right now there is an important decision… on the table – €90 billion in support for Ukraine over two years.”
“This is a real financial guarantee of our security and our resilience, and it must be implemented,”
the Ukrainian leader insisted.

On Monday, Hungary vetoed the EU’s proposed emergency loan for Ukraine, as well as the latest package of sanctions against Russia. Budapest accused Kiev of jeopardizing the “security of Hungary’s energy supply” by deliberately blocking use of the Soviet-era Druzhba pipeline for political reasons. The transit of Russian oil to EU consumers via the conduit has been on hold since late January, with Kiev blaming Moscow for damaging it. Russia has denied the allegations.
Ukraine expects its Western backers to cover a budget deficit of around $50 billion this year. El Pais reported in October that the Ukrainian government could run out of money by April.
Speaking last month, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that if approved, the EU loan would end up being stolen by corrupt Ukrainian officials.

This scabbing bastard needs to be told where to go.....
Well done Mr. Orban, someone needs to stand up for EU citizens and THEIR money.(y)

Why is there no debate in Europe, at any level, to this? What has transfixed the politicians so firmly that they they just nod through any old crap! Basically, what has happened to the democratic process?

Democracy in the EU is dead.
We see with Hungary and Orban the threats and sanctions imposed when they follow through with the wishes of their people and go against the Fourth Reich.

Unquiet on the Western Front

It’s long been postulated that when the Kiev regime is on the verge of falling, Hungary will reclaim its ancestral lands. This may be a precursor to that:
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has ordered military units and additional police to guard energy infrastructure sites in his country’s east, citing the threat of potential Ukrainian attacks. Orban announced the deployment on Wednesday amid the continuing standoff between Budapest and Kiev over the Soviet-era Druzhba pipeline, which until recently carried Russian crude to Hungary and Slovakia via Ukraine.
The pipeline went offline in late January, with Kiev claiming it was damaged in Russian strikes, which Moscow has denied. Both Hungary and Slovakia have accused Ukraine of deliberately withholding supplies for political reasons, threatening retaliation.
Sure, it could just be a defensive move. But I wouldn’t count on it.
