EU nation to terminate emergency Ukraine electricity scheme

Slovakia has been locked in a bitter row with Kiev over Russian oil deliveries.

Slovakia will terminate an emergency electricity supply contract with Ukraine, state-owned energy operator SEPS has announced.
The move comes amid the continuing row between Kiev and Bratislava over the Soviet-era Druzhba pipeline, which carried crude from Russia to Slovakia and Hungary. The pipeline went offline in late January, with Kiev claiming it was damaged by Russian long-range strikes, which Moscow has denied. Slovakia and Hungary have echoed Russia’s stance, accusing Ukraine of deliberately disrupting the supply for political reasons and threatening retaliation.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico ordered a halt to emergency electricity supplies from his country to Ukraine last week while threatening “further reciprocal steps” if oil supplies are not resumed. Announcing the halt, Fico reiterated that Ukraine’s actions were a “purely political decision aimed at blackmailing Slovakia.”

The contract with Ukrainian energy operator Ukrenego, which covers the emergency supply, is now set to be terminated, the director of SEPS, Martin Magath, told reporters on Wednesday after a government meeting. Over the past week, Ukraine reached out to Slovakia for an emergency electricity supply, but the request was turned down, he revealed.

Kiev has been increasingly reliant on electricity imports to stabilize its power grid, which has been battered by Russian strikes on Ukraine’s critical dual-use infrastructure. According to the Slovak authorities, Kiev received twice as much electricity from the country this January compared to the entire year of 2025.

Budapest has also mulled cutting emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine amid the Druzhba standoff. In late February, both Slovakia and Hungary announced that they would suspend diesel exports to Ukraine until the pipeline becomes operational again.
Additionally, Budapest has vetoed the EU’s proposed €90 billion ($106 billion) emergency loan for Ukraine and the latest package of anti-Russian sanctions. Until Kiev “returns to common sense and normality, we will not support any decision that is favorable to Ukraine,” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said.

Unquiet on the Western Front

It’s long been postulated that when the Kiev regime is on the verge of falling, Hungary will reclaim its ancestral lands. This may be a precursor to that:

Sure, it could just be a defensive move. But I wouldn’t count on it.
This is an interesting post that has become more interesting. There are now two countries that in days could be seriously on the ropes. Ukraine being one, and either Israel or Iran being the other.

(And that is not counting the fake ass countries of saudi and UAE/Bahrain etc).

I will not be sure which one for maybe 3 more days.

If Israel, then obviously it fires its 200 nukes.

If Iran, it can for a time at least, cut the oil supply. Remember, having the supply does not mean a double in price, that is not the arithmetic. I would say a 10% would double the price.

As for Ukraine, it certainly will lash out at Hungary. That gives the green light for Poland, Hungary, Romania and Belarus to grab as much as possible. And Moldova gets eaten because nobody ever heard of the place anyway.

Is Israel itself not a fake ass country?😉

So much for European unity if Ukraine does implode, no amount of fancy hair dos will help UvL out of that particular mess, nor will a raft of legislation and red tape, which is all the EU is good for at the end of the day.

This follows on from Adolf Zitler mouthing off about sending armed troops to Hungary to 'speak to Victor Orban in a language he'll understand' last week.

A former Ukrainian Secret Service (SBU) general and MP has issued an open public threat against the family of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, days after Vladimir Zelensky suggested his military could be despatched to speak with him “in its own language.”
Speaking to Pryamy TV, Ukrainian politician and retired SBU general Grigory Omelchenko cited the US-Israeli assassination of late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and his family, and warned that Orban must change his “anti-Ukrainian” position if he cares about his five children and six grandchildren.

The SBU – the successor to the Soviet KGB – knows “where he [Orban] lives, where he sleeps, where he drinks beer and wine, smokes shisha, strolls and meets people,” Omelchenko claimed, adding "he needs to think of his grandchildren."

Zelensky's supporters are furious with Orban over his opposition to what they see as Ukraine's right to join the EU, ongoing unchecked financial support to Kiev and the detention by Hungarian security forces of a convoy that was carrying up to $100 million worth of cash and gold, allegedly destined for a Ukrainian state bank.

Orban responded to the threats on Thursday, assuring his family of their safety, in a video released by Budapest.

Orban said receiving death threats is “unusual” for his family but has brought them closer together. He also warned that “everything has its limit.”
The Orban government has long opposed the EU’s policy of arming and funding Ukraine against Russia, as well as Ukraine’s bid to join the bloc. Tensions escalated in January when Ukraine suspended Russian oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia via a Soviet-built pipeline, claiming it was damaged by a Russian attack – which Moscow has denied.

Orban has accused Zelensky of trying to cause an energy crisis in Hungary ahead of key parliamentary elections in April. Orban’s main competitor, Peter Magyar, denounced Zelensky for issuing threats against the prime minister, saying the EU should sever ties with Kiev until the Ukrainian leader apologizes to the Hungarian people.

US President Donald Trump has dismissed Vladimir Zelensky’s offer to assist with countering Iranian drones in the Middle East, saying he is the “last person” Washington needs help from.

Since the launch of US-Israeli strikes on Iran late last month, the Ukrainian leader has repeatedly signaled his readiness to get involved in the conflict, claiming that Washington has appealed for help defending American assets stationed in the Gulf against retaliatory attacks.
On Friday, Zelensky reiterated the offer on X, arguing that without Ukrainian “expertise,” the US will not be able to “stabilize the situation.”
In a telephone interview with NBC News on Saturday, the US president rejected the idea that Washington had requested or requires Ukrainian assistance.
“We don’t need help,” Trump said, adding that Zelensky is the “last person we need help from.”

Trump also criticised Zelensky’s approach to negotiations with Moscow, arguing that “Zelensky is far more difficult to make a deal with” than Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I’m surprised that Zelensky doesn’t want to make a deal. Tell Zelensky to make a deal because Putin’s willing to make a deal,” he told NBC.
Since returning to office last year, Trump has pushed for a negotiated settlement between Kiev and Moscow, leading to US-mediated trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi in January and follow-up negotiations in Geneva last month.

The next round of talks was expected to take place in early March. However, with the Trump administration focused on the conflict with Iran, the meeting has reportedly been postponed until next week at the earliest.

Zelensky then sought to insert Ukraine into the Middle East conflict, saying he had instructed officials to “provide the necessary means and ensure the presence of Ukrainian specialists capable of guaranteeing the necessary security.”

The head of the national security commission of the Iranian parliament, Ebrahim Azizi, reacted on X, saying that “by providing drone support to the Israeli regime, failed Ukraine has effectively become involved in the war,” and warning that Kiev could face retaliation, with the entire country becoming a target.

Ukraine could force 2 million draft dodgers ‘out of the shadows’ – MP

Kiev has the means to track down potential draftees who had gone into hiding, a Ukrainian lawmaker believes

Kiev has the means to round up people evading the military draft, tracking them through banking transactions and use of digital services, Ukrainian lawmaker Solomia Bobrovskaya has suggested.

According to estimates recently voiced by newly appointed Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov, around two million potential recruits were on a wanted list for draft evasion, while some 200,000 active-duty troops had gone AWOL. The Ukrainian draft system has long needed an overhaul, Borovskaya told the Telegraf outlet in an interview on Thursday, arguing that forced mobilization efforts and punitive measures had effectively stopped working.

“Unfortunately, the parliament passed a law taking a harsher approach and increasing criminalization for deserters. We raised prison terms from 8 to 10 years, effectively sentencing them to longer terms than murderers or terrorists. My point is the ‘stick’ policy alone is not working,” Bobrovskaya stated.

The authorities should take a more flexible approach to deserters, the lawmaker suggested, examining the reasons behind soldiers going AWOL, casualties sustained by their units, and so on. At the same time, the MP suggested that Kiev actually has the means to track those citizens who had gone into hiding to escape the draft. “I believe it’s possible. Everyone uses information, electronic, and financial services and transactions,” Bobrovskaya stated.

The compulsory military drive, enforced by Kiev to compensate for combat losses, has grown increasingly chaotic and violent over the years. The process has become colloquially known as ‘busification,’ a term describing the process of violently shoving recruits into minibuses commonly used by enlistment officials.

Numerous videos circulating online show draft officers brawling with potential recruits and onlookers in the streets, breaking into vehicles and homes, and on some occasions, even resorting to the use of military-grade weapons in their standoffs with civilians.

According to estimates voiced by Ukrainian lawmaker Vadim Ivchenko, the current recruiting scheme “gives approximately 8-10%” of the personnel needed by the army despite all the violence. Moreover, fewer than one in ten Ukrainians are currently joining the military voluntarily, Ivchenko claimed, arguing that it was impossible to abandon forced mobilisation practices.

Hungary to halt gas deliveries to Ukraine – Orban

Ukraine will not receive any gas until it restores the flow of Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline, the Hungarian prime minister has announced

Hungary will gradually halt natural gas deliveries to Ukraine until Kiev restores the flow of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline, Prime Minister Viktor Orban has announced.
In a video posted to his Facebook page on Wednesday, Orban said that Ukraine has been blocking the operation of the Soviet-era oil pipeline for 30 days. “As long as Ukraine does not provide oil, it will not receive gas from Hungary,” he said.
Orban stated that gas that would have been sent to Ukraine will instead be stored in Hungarian facilities, adding that the move is necessary considering that Ukraine “is also attacking the southern gas pipeline that supplies Hungary,” referring to the TurkStream route that brings Russian gas to Hungary via Türkiye and the Balkans.
“We will defend Hungary’s energy security, the protected petrol price, and the reduced gas prices,” Orban declared. He said the country has so far been able to “successfully defend against Ukrainian blackmail” thanks to the protected price scheme, adding that Hungarians pay the lowest prices at gas stations in all of Europe.

Orban’s announcement comes amid a long-running energy dispute between Budapest and Kiev after Ukraine halted oil shipments through the Druzhba pipeline in late January, citing supposed damage from a Russian drone strike.
Moscow has denied the accusations while Hungary and Slovakia, both heavily reliant on the pipeline, have similarly doubted Kiev’s justification, accusing it of deliberately blocking the flow as political blackmail.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has said that satellite imagery shows the pipeline is fully operational and that Kiev’s refusal to allow a joint inspection proves the decision was political.
Budapest has retaliated by vetoing a €90 billion ($104 billion) EU loan for Ukraine, blocking a new round of sanctions against Russia, and opposing Kiev’s EU membership bid. Orban has said that Budapest will not back down until the pipeline restarts.

Turkish tanker blacklisted by Ukraine hit in drone attack – media

Kiev and its Western backers are seeking to disrupt Russian oil exports

A Turkish oil tanker has reportedly been struck by drones near the Bosphorus after taking on around 140,000 tons of oil at a Russian port, local media reported on Thursday. The ship is blacklisted by the Ukrainian government for transporting Russian goods.

The vessel, identified as the Altura, is owned by Turkish shipping company Pergamon and operated by a crew of 27 Turkish nationals. According to reports, it was targeted by air and surface drones around 22 km from the strategic waterway. While no casualties were reported, the ship is said to have sustained damage to its bridge and upper deck, with flooding reported in the engine room.

There has been no immediate official confirmation of the incident, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Ukrainian military intelligence previously accused the Altura and its operator of belonging to a ‘shadow fleet’, which allegedly helps Russia bypass Western sanctions on oil exports. Last Sunday, it departed from Novorossiysk, a major Russian port on the Black Sea, en route to Istanbul, according to maritime tracking data.

Kiev has previously targeted vessels it claims are involved in ‘shadow fleet’ operations. Ukrainian forces have also struck ships used by third parties transporting oil originating from Kazakhstan but routed through Novorossiysk via pipeline infrastructure.

Western countries that support Ukraine against Russia have in the past detained vessels suspected of being part of the network, sometimes holding them for extended periods. On Wednesday, the UK – described by Moscow as a key force behind the conflict – announced plans to use military means to intercept tankers linked to Russian oil shipments, as opposed to backing raids conducted by other nations.

Russia has condemned Ukraine’s actions as piracy carried out with Western backing. Some Russian officials have argued that NATO members are preparing a de facto naval blockade, warning that Moscow may be compelled to respond militarily.

Suspected Ukrainian drones have crashed in Finland – prime minister

Petteri Orpo has linked the aerial incursion to Kiev’s latest UAV attacks on oil facilities in Russia’s north-western Leningrad Region

Two suspected Ukrainian drones have crashed in Finland, Prime Minister Petteri Orpo has reported, conjecturing that the UAVs were launched as part of Kiev’s latest attacks on neighboring Russia’s Leningrad Region.

In a post on X on Sunday, Orpo wrote that the “drones have strayed into Finnish territory,” and that the incident was being investigated by local authorities and the Defense Forces.

The Finnish prime minister characterized the “territorial violation as a very serious matter,” as quoted by Yle News.
Meanwhile, the country’s Air Force identified one of the UAVs as a Ukrainian AN196 drone.
There have been no reports of casualties on the ground as a result of the incident.

According to the Nordic country’s Defense Ministry, “several small, slow-flying, low-flying objects were observed in Finnish airspace over the sea and in southeastern Finland on Sunday morning.”
F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets were deployed to monitor the drones, but did not use suppressive fire so as to avoid collateral damage, according to Yle News.
The Defense Ministry stated that the UAVs eventually crashed near the city of Kouvola, roughly 100 kilometers (62 miles) west of the Russian border.

Since early March, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has reported that its air defenses have shot down hundreds of Ukrainian drones in Russian airspace on an almost daily basis. The Kremlin has characterized the UAV incursions as “terrorist attacks.”
On Wednesday, an unusually large number of drones were downed over Leningrad Region, with the raid resulting in a blaze in the port area of Ust-Luga, which is home to a major gas-processing complex as well as Europe’s largest oil terminal specializing in the transshipment of petroleum products from rail to sea tankers.

There were no injuries among civilians in the region, according to the authorities.
Meanwhile, also on Wednesday, a Ukrainian UAV hit the chimney of the Auvere Power Plant in northeastern Estonia, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal reported.

At around the same time, another Ukrainian drone impacted neighboring Latvia, the country’s Defense Ministry stated.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginiene had said early in the week that a UAV launched from Ukraine went astray and crashed in the south of the Baltic nation on Monday. According to the Baltic nation’s Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas, the drone went undetected by NATO radar because it was “flying at an altitude of less than 300 meters.”

Last September, after more than a dozen drones were reported crossing into Poland, Russia accused Ukraine of deliberately sending UAVs into NATO territory as part of a false flag attack, apparently with a view to pitting the Western military bloc directly against Russia.

People in high places are waking up to the farcical and shameful proxy war against Russia.

Slovakia threatens to block EU’s Russia sanctions over oil rift with Kiev

Any attempts to fast-track Ukraine’s bid to join the EU will also be blocked if the issue is not resolved, PM Robert Fico has warned

Bratislava will veto the EU’s proposed 20th package of sanctions against Russia, as well as derail any attempts to simplify the potential accession of Kiev into the bloc, should Brussels continue to favor Ukraine over Slovakia, Prime Minister Robert Fico has warned.

Slovakia, as well as its southern neighbor Hungary, has been locked in a bitter row with Ukraine since late January, when the Druzhba pipeline, which used to carry Russian crude into the two countries, went offline. Kiev has claimed it was damaged in Russian strikes, a charge Moscow has denied.
Both Slovakia and Hungary have accused Ukraine of deliberately withholding supplies for political blackmail and threatened retaliatory steps should the pipeline remain out of commission. Kiev has claimed the artery was being repaired but has repeatedly shifted the deadline.

Speaking in a video address posted to his Facebook page late on Saturday, Fico lamented the treatment his country has been receiving from EU bureaucrats. Namely, the bloc has threatened Bratislava with repercussions over its domestic protective measures, including diesel rationing for foreigners, the PM said.
“The European Commission immediately sent us a threatening letter within two days, wherein it threatened all possible actions. It is strange that the same language is not used in reference to [Vladimir] Zelensky; those are full of love and understanding,” Fico stated.

Should the attitude remain the same and the EU Commission continue to “favor Ukraine over Slovakia,” Bratislava will block the proposed 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions, as well as no longer show “willingness for Ukraine’s rapid accession to the union,” the PM warned.
The sanctions package has already ended up in limbo over the Druzhba row, as the initiative was vetoed by another victim of the pipeline shutdown, Hungary. Budapest has also derailed the proposed €90 billion ($104 billion) EU assistance package for Kiev, agreed to by the member states late last year. Without the emergency loan, Ukraine is projected to run out of money by June, according to Bloomberg.
