The lack of ammunition means they can't suppress defenders. Because of this they need to conduct human wave attacks...its been the hallmark of Wagner for months in Bakhmut.

You can probably count 3 to 4 times wounded to the deaths quoted above. That's a battalions worth of Russian men gone for "up to" 160 metres of gain.

That's the AFU strategy in Bakhmut....bleed the Russians dry.

And the Russians still haven't taken Bakhmut, a poxy city of what was 70k people, in 8 months!

Anyway, the Russian media has a different story to tell, this from late December -

The losses of the Ukrainian army during the battle for Bakhmut are thirty times higher than the Russian ones. At the same time, the military leaders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to make directly opposite statements.
