I was reading a while ago that although trains sound very good and efficient they nowhere approach the carrying capacity of shipping or pipelines. So although the new railway might provide an alternative route it may be more symbolic than strategic.

This is what happens when the US starts doing deals for itself without any regard for its allies; those allies start to go their own way. These countries are not subcontractors that Trump could tell to fuck off with 40 cents on the dollar.

Also, Trump can't make tariff money on imports that disappear when the Persian Gulf gets shut down.

And so much time and effort wasted on culture war issues that dont materially impact the vast majority of people. Trying to start a war in LA and instead getting one in the ME.

He is utterly incompetent in every arena.

Now is a very good time for China to invade Taiwan. Trump wont be around forever, Xi has to attack soon.
