I think we need a thread solely devoted to a serious pestilence, and that is the plague of Roma scum that even now have hit the US. A couple of days ago I saw one skunk out waving a baby in diapers at passing motorists in Cambridge. About 18 months old. And the wife up the street. I wish I was able to get my camera out in time. He was even well dressed.
 
My complaint on a local level was to do with organised begging. Before the Roma arrived in town there were a mix of beggars who would occupy select spots on the high street, usually indigenous and of a humble nature, you'd give them change and they'd move on when the day was done, some returning occasionally.
Then one day the Roma arrived, they took the popular pitch's and guess what - They never moved on!! Fifteen years the same roma in the same spot pushing pushing pushing the 'Big Issue' into locals faces - Disgraceful & disingenuous turning homelessness and begging into their own private run industry on our highstreets to the exclusion of other beggars and homeless - our own got sidelined.
Cheeky lying bastards for feigning homelessness. Sicko's on the hustle.
 
How do they get through customs, we need to adopt the US approach. You need to have a certain amount of money and a return ticket to enter Ireland.

An acquaintance of mine used to work for the US state in some kind of diplomatic context and was deployed in Eastern Europe. His job was to help local communities establish function businesses to get some kind of economies going. A lot of these places have incredible natural resources that kind of just go begging because the institutions over there are corrupt/have no clue.

Anyway, his deal at one time was teaching and supplying Gypsy communities to keep bees. The US would supply them with everything--all the kit needed to produce honey at a commercial level, which is really expensive as a setup. He provided training, organised all the infrastructure, logistics etc. All they had to do was show up and work, and learn.

Anyway, he would get it all rolling, come back in six months time and all the equipment and essentially everything would be vanished. Literally everything not nailed down. When questioned about it, the Gypsies would say that neighbouring Gypsy clans had stolen it all and sold it off. It was pretty obvious to him and all the other guys involved in organising it that they had done it themselves, but they couldn't prove it. This happened three or four times before whatever department finally got the picture and just gave up on the idea. Hundreds of thousands dollars down the drain, which is a fucking lot of money in these tinpot countries especially back then.

His opinion of them is that they've been travelling outsiders for long ( hundreds and hundreds of years) that they've basically been bred and cultured into thievery and grifting, it's their entire identity. The only ones who are the exception to this are the performing types which represent a pretty small part of the overall community. For every Django Reinhardt you get 30 pickpockets.They are actually Indian (As in India Indians) genealogically and their language is very similar to Hindi, grammatically and sonically.

No idea what the solution to it all is.

The solution is simple. Send them all, every last one of them, to Madagascar and forget about them.
 
It's a pity to be complaining & holding a grudge against foreign begging gypsies on the streets of town. Sure I have gladly contributed to beggars bowls in times past and did buy the roma's big issue magazine a few times when they arrived first but had to stop after the push push push push push and further attemps - tantamount to subtle street harassment afaic.
They are an easy target to point a finger at in regards to taking up public space and goodwill by loudly wearing out their welcome in an environment of scare Public Space and Resources? Then again they probably satisfy other elements in the town - Town which is also vices central. Unfortunately Town is a grift which is why they are still there:geek:

And sure the Roma are big into big sprawling unemployed families too, those same faces will be harssing the city for begging's for the next 20-30 years plus their up and coming kids - It seems insane.

And more ready to jump off the Plane at Dublin Airport?? WTF???

Funny you should mention Pitcairn. I had a walking tour yesterday and was telling them about a tour I had some years ago where some young girl approached me on Lexington Green with a request. As part of her school project she was asked to find three unusual stories about the skermish there.

I told her two.
The English officer up front that order the rebels off the Green was a man called Major Pitcairn who eas later killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill. He had a brother who sailed with Captain Cook. He was the first to spot Pitcairn Island and it was named after him. And that is where Captain Blygh washed up after the Mutiny on the Bounty.

One starts to understand and appreciate the local victims of foreigner/travelers violence & bad ways.
I As I'm presently typing this, I can hear J Barrett warning us that he's "Right So Far" and I'm tending to agree.

No doubt about it, the shitshow being served up around the country in the certain wrong locations has destoyed my views and ideas about ireland and it's people.
I had my own problems with violent foreigners on my Irish doorstep 18 years ago but I shrugged it off and blamed myself and learned to love the world again but now!! - FUCK THAT!!!:mad:

Recently I cannot even bear to look at foreigners unless they make it perfectly clear that they are full aligned and work for the local Irish.
All the rest have become provisional enemies!! As many of them are. It's beyond a nightmare for the locally affected - For that, the planters and planted will never be accepted or forgiven

Better get back to the drawing board folks.

That might have been awkward! Luckily for Blygh, he sailed in the opposite direction and "washed up" in Timor. The mutineers sailed to Pitcairn and set up home there. Their descendants are there to this day.

The island is a cesspit and every other person is called Christian it seems..as in Fletcher Christian. The Roma would have fun there, hence my suggestion. Basically an extinct volcano with nowhere to go.

Ok, fair comment, I certainly agree but why should north inner city and the canal area residents and other locals have to tolerate the scum on the precious and beautiful canal banks?

I'm considering to cordon off a section of park around farmleigh until his lordyship feels and recognises the problems his countrymen are facing, see?
