Ukrainian Army facing collapse – Putin

Kiev’s incursion in Kursk Region has failed to achieve its goal and may lead to a complete defeat, the Russian president has said

High casualties incurred by the Ukrainian military since Kiev launched its incursion in Russia’s Kursk Region could render its armed forces useless, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.
The Russian leader shared his assessment of the frontline situation on Thursday during a panel discussion at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok. He said the Ukrainian attempt to disrupt the Russian military with the massive attack across the border last month had backfired.
”Our military has stabilized the situation and is now gradually pushing the opponent from the border territories. More importantly, there is no resistance to our advancement [in Donbass],” he explained. “The opponent has weakened itself on the key axis by moving those relatively strong and well-trained units to the border areas.”
Ukrainian officials expected Moscow to redeploy some of its forces from the east to repel the incursion in the north. However, the gamble has not paid off, Aleksandr Syrsky, Kiev’s top general, acknowledged last week.

Kremlin comments on Ukraine’s threat to ‘hold’ Russian territory

Putin said Russian troops had been securing more land in Donbass, which is a priority for Moscow, at a pace unseen in a long time. Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops are “suffering very high losses in manpower and hardware.”
“Because of that, [Kiev] risks a collapse of the front line on the most important axis. The casualties may result in a loss of fighting capability of the entire armed forces, which is what we are looking to achieve,”
the president added.
On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry estimated that Ukrainian casualties in the Kursk operation had surpassed 9,700 troops. Kiev also lost 81 tanks, dozens of other armored vehicles, hundreds of cars, and multiple heavy weapons, the military said.

Putin confirmed the statistics, telling the audience that the intelligence had been confirmed by multiple sources.

Putin backs Kamala Harris (VIDEO)

Moscow will support US Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election in November, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday while speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
Putin told the audience that he admired the Democratic Party candidate’s “infectious laugh” and that he respected current President Joe Biden’s choice to endorse her as his successor.
During a plenary session of the forum, Putin was asked whether he had a favorite candidate in the election now that Joe Biden, who he previously supported, has dropped out. He was also asked whether or not he would call to congratulate the eventual winner in November.
Putin replied by saying it had been a long time since he had any direct contact with European or US leaders, and noted that it was not up to Russia to choose a “favorite” in the US presidential election, which is a task for American voters.
Nevertheless, he recalled that he had previously expressed support for US President Joe Biden, who had since been “removed” from the race. However, the Russian president noted that Biden had told his supporters to support Kamala Harris in the race, and so Moscow would do the same and root for the vice president in November, Putin said.

Putin added that Harris “laughs so infectiously” that it suggests “everything is going well for her.”
He also suggested that Harris’ positive disposition could mean that she would refrain from imposing as many sanctions on Russia as former US President Donald Trump, who Putin said had introduced more restrictions on Moscow than any other president in American history.
“In the end, the choice is up to the American people and we will treat their eventual decision with respect,” he said.

I suspect the reason for his sudden resignation is that more Swedish “instructors” were killed in the recent double-Iskander missile strike in Poltava than have been reported. The number of KIA is officially 41, but Ukrainian locals are reporting up to 760 bodies in the morgue. To go from 200 years of safe neutrality to losing dozens of military officers in a single Russian strike is a catastrophe that the leading advocate of abandoning neutrality would have to be held responsible.

Bad enough that we're housing and feeding over 100,000 of them here at taxpayers expense but now we're throwing hundreds of millions more straight into the black hole of corruption....

That €168million would go a long way towards funding the re-opening of the Collooney-Claremorris rail-line, provide a spur to the international airport of Knock thus making it accessible to the university cities of Sligo & Galway. Open up the West of Ireland for fcuks sake. But no! Dail traitors see fit to spend €350,000 on a bicycle shed. Rant over.

Once the Russians take or destroy this hub, then no supplies can get East and the Ukes have to try to retreat, which likely is impossible. It took a long time, but it is basically over in the next matter of days unless something big hits.

Kiev’s top general complains about raw recruits

Ukraine often sends troops to the front line after minimal training, Aleksandr Syrsky has said

Ukraine is sending fresh troops with only limited training to the conflict front line, Kiev’s top general, Aleksandr Syrsky, has acknowledged. His made the comment as his troops struggle to contain Russian advances in Donbass.
In a rare interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Thursday, Syrsky confirmed media reports about Ukraine’s ongoing manpower problems despite the government’s recent push to boost mobilization.
While stressing that Kiev “wants the level of training to be the best” and is trying to pursue programs aimed at fostering highly qualified professional military personnel, the general admitted that “the dynamics at the front require us to put conscripted servicemen into service as soon as possible.”
According to Syrsky, who replaced his predecessor, Valery Zaluzhny, in February, new recruits receive one month of basic military training and two to four weeks of specialized training before deployment. However, reservists usually have previous army experience.

The commander also acknowledged that delays in US assistance – which were mainly due to a congressional gridlock several months ago – have caused ongoing battlefield problems and a morale slump.
Ukraine’s front line remains under immense Russian pressure in Donbass, particularly near Pokrovsk, he admitted, but claimed that “over the last six days the enemy hasn’t advanced a single meter.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin, however, said on Thursday that Moscow’s forces have been making rapid advances in the region, partly due to Kiev’s decision to pull out some of its best units to attack Russia’s Kursk Region. The Russian Defense Ministry estimated Ukraine’s losses in the area at more than 10,000 troops since the start of the incursion.
Ukraine announced a general mobilization in February 2022 after the escalation of the conflict with Russia. The campaign has been marred by widespread draft-dodging and graft, with numerous videos showing conscription officers forcibly detaining potential recruits. In a bid to recover military losses, Kiev passed two bills this spring, one of which lowered the draft age from 27 to 25, while the other significantly tightened mobilization rules.
Citing Ukrainian battlefield commanders, the Washington Post reported in June that basic military training is often so lackluster that replacements have to be taught to shoot once they reach the front line.

That's a given.
This conflict and the escalation has nothing to do with them.
The major reasons why that's so.
A visceral hatred of a prosperous stable Russia by the neocons.
And their perverted historical luggage.
To rub Russias nose in the shit by having Nato within minutes strike distance of western Russia.
Resources!
Ukrainians are just there to be used.
Sickening reality.

Russia’s gold reserves approach historic landmark

Bullion holdings stood at nearly $190 billion as of September 1, according to the central bank

Russia’s holdings of gold have reached a new high of $188.8 billion and bullion’s share in the country’s international reserves now exceed 30% for the first time in almost a quarter century, according to the central bank.
The Bank of Russia reported on Friday that the value of monetary gold in international reserves had increased by more than $9 billion, or 5.1%, since the beginning of August.
The gold price rose 3.6% in August to finish the month at $2,513/oz, meaning that a significant part of the increase in the value of Russia’s holdings was due to the revaluation effect.
This is still the highest share of monetary gold in Russia’s international assets since January 2000, when it reached 31.2%. The highest level in the country's modern history was recorded in January 1993, at 56.9%.
According to the central bank, the country’s international reserves have continued to grow, reaching $613.7 billion as of September 1, up by more than $11 billion from the previous month.
Russia’s international reserves are officially defined as highly liquid foreign assets held by the Bank of Russia and the country’s government, consisting of foreign currencies, special drawing rights with the IMF, and monetary gold.
Will Africa take its gold from a greedy West? READ MORE: Will Africa take its gold from a greedy West?
Nearly half of Russia’s international reserves were frozen in the West in early 2022 as part of Ukraine-related sanctions. The Bank of Russia has not provided a detailed breakdown of what was immobilized.
The portion of Russia’s reserves that was not frozen consists of gold and foreign currency held within the country, as well as holdings of Chinese yuan.
Bank of Russia Governor Elvira Nabiullina has said the country’s financial stability will not be affected if the West seizes its frozen assets. The regulator has been diversifying its forex reserves for several years, and is currently conducting operations with reserves that are not affected by sanctions, according to Nabiullina.
Moscow has denounced the freezing of the central bank assets as illegal, saying it has “eroded the credibility” of Western countries. The Kremlin has warned of retaliation if the funds are confiscated.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky has urged NATO countries to pressure Russia to agree to Kiev’s peace terms this fall. He made his statement during a meeting with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Regular gatherings at Ramstein are designed to coordinate military aid to Kiev.
Zelensky urged Western countries to help arrange joint production of weapons on Ukrainian soil, including drones and missiles.
“To achieve this, we need funding – we are ready to quickly produce everything that will help us bring this war to an end, namely, by putting decisive pressure on Russia for real peace,” Zelensky said, according to his website.
“Let’s make this fall a time for Russian aggression to fall – in a way that will end the war and restore a reliable international security order.”
Austin stressed the importance of weapons manufacturing, saying that the US was “working with Ukraine to design and build a substitute for the S-300 surface-to-air missile system and the R-27 air-to-air missile.” Washington has set aside more than $200 million to purchase “critical components” to allow Ukraine to make drones and electronic warfare systems, he said.
Kiev has encountered several setbacks on the battlefield in recent months, with Russian troops steadily making gains in the Donbass and advancing towards the city of Pokrovsk.

In the hope of forcing Moscow to recall most of its soldiers from the Donbass, Ukraine launched an incursion into Russia’s Kursk Region on August 6, capturing several villages and the border city of Sudzha. The Russian advances have not stopped, however.
By sending its most well-equipped and experienced units into Kursk, the Ukrainian army has “weakened” its positions on other fronts, Russian President Vladimir Putin said this week. He added that the Russian forces have only increased their push in the Donbass.
Peace negotiations between Moscow and Kiev broke down in the spring of 2022. Moscow has since stated that Zelensky’s demand to restore Ukraine to its 1991 borders was completely unacceptable.
Speaking on Monday, Putin said that Russia was ready to reopen peace negotiations, but only on its own terms. Moscow needs to neutralize Ukrainian attempts to “destabilize the situation” in Kursk and other border regions first, he stressed.

Moscow and Kiev should agree to a ceasefire before drafting a detailed peace plan, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said. Speaking at an international economic conference in Cernobbio, Italy on Friday, he stressed that both sides would have to eventually come to the negotiating table.
For any attempts at mediation to bear fruit, there needs to be communication with both Russia and Ukraine, Orban said. “If we wait for a peace plan that is accepted by both sides, there will never be peace – because the first step is not a peace plan. The first step is a ceasefire.”
“You need communication first, then a ceasefire, and then you can negotiate a peace plan,” Orban stressed.
In June, Switzerland hosted a Ukraine peace conference, to which Russia was not invited. The event was mostly centered around Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky’s ‘peace formula,’ which stipulates that Russia must withdraw its forces from all territory claimed by Ukraine, a plan Moscow has already dismissed as “detached from reality.”

After Hungary took over the rotating presidency of the EU in June, Orban visited Kiev, Moscow, Beijing and Washington as part of his “peace mission” tour. Budapest has long argued for prioritizing a diplomatic resolution of the conflict, rather than supplying Kiev with weapons. Orban is a staunch opponent of military aid to Ukraine who has vowed not to drag Hungary into a full-blown war with Russia.

Ukrainian conscription officials have begun installing cell phone jamming devices in their vehicles so the men they snatch on the street can’t call for help, according to lawmaker Sergey Yevtushok.
A member of the opposition Fatherland party, which has 24 seats in the 450-member Verkhovna Rada, Yevtushok made the startling revelation on air of the Novosti.Live TV channel on Thursday.
“They stop a person, turn on electronic warfare equipment so that he cannot call anywhere – call his relatives or perhaps a lawyer,”Yevtushok said. “They force him into a car and take him to the military registration and enlistment office.”
Yevtushok pointed out that this practice is clearly against Ukrainian law, but appears to be widespread and fully worked out.
“In two or three hours, a person undergoes a medical examination, and the next morning he is already at the training grounds,” the MP added.

Kiev has long struggled with replacing battlefield losses. General Aleksandr Syrsky, the commander of Ukrainian armed forces, has admitted that new recruits get four weeks of basic training and up to four weeks of specialized training before being sent into battle.
“The dynamics at the front require us to put conscripted servicemen into service as soon as possible,”Syrsky told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour in an interview aired on Thursday.
Ukraine announced a general mobilization in February 2022, after the escalation of the conflict with Russia. The process has been marred by widespread draft-dodging and graft, while numerous videos have shown conscription officers forcibly detaining recruits.
Earlier this year, Kiev lowered the draft age to 25 and significantly tightened mobilization rules. A recently circulated petition has urged the government to lower the maximum age of conscription to 50, down from the current 60 years of age.

Ukraine’s top spy declares Telegram a ‘threat to national security’

Kirill Budanov says he doesn’t advocate banning the messaging app but rather wants to deanonymize people behind popular channels
Ukraine’s top spy declares Telegram a ‘threat to national security’

Telegram poses a real threat to Ukraine’s national security, the chief of that country’s Main Directorate of Military Intelligence, Kirill Budanov, has stated. The official acknowledged that the encrypted instant-messaging platform has become the prime source of information in the country, “outperforming everything else.”
Telegram was created by Russian tech entrepreneurs Pavel and Nikolay Durov back in 2013. One of its unique features is that it allows users to create public broadcast channels and discussion groups.
In an interview with Charter Radio station on Saturday, Budanov said that he does not advocate “simply shutting down” the messaging app. According to the intelligence chief, while quite difficult to implement, such a ban is doable, though.
“I call for all Telegram channels” to be obliged to establish a physical presence in Ukraine, Budanov declared.
“If you want to, so to speak, disseminate some news, please register, so that everyone understands that this channel is registered by Ivanov Ivan Ivanovich, a Russian citizen, who resides in Moscow,” the Ukrainian official explained.
Telegram under investigation in India – media READ MORE: Telegram under investigation in India – media
He argued that this way Telegram channel administrators would bear responsibility for the content posted on it.
According to Budanov, some channels publish “not really printable materials,” and not only with respect to the ongoing military conflict with Russia.
He made similar remarks in late March, noting at the same time that Telegram is a useful tool for Ukrainian secret services in spreading their narratives in Russian-controlled territories.
Around the same time, a group of Ukrainian lawmakers proposed a bill to “regulate” Telegram. It included, among other things, a requirement for any messaging apps operating in Ukraine to set up a registered office in the country – unless they are headquartered in the EU – and to disclose their ownership structure and funding to the government.
The founder and CEO of Telegram, Pavel Durov, was detained after landing at Paris-Le Bourget Airport on August 24 and released on bail several days later. The Russian-born entrepreneur, who is also a citizen of France, the UAE, and the Caribbean nation of St. Kitts and Nevis, was charged on 12 counts, including complicity in distributing child porn, drug dealing and money laundering. The charges cite Telegram’s lax moderation rules that presumably allow for the widespread use of the platform by criminals.
Telegram is no stranger to legal problems, with authorities in numerous countries, including Russia, having taken issue with its policies. It has been banned in several jurisdictions over its refusal to cooperate with local governments.
