Former US President Donald Trump has called on Vice President Kamala Harris to take a cognitive test, calling her “slow and lethargic.” Harris urged Trump to release his medical records over the weekend, questioning “whether he is fit to be president of the United States.”
In a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday, Trump declared that “it is very important that Kamala Harris pass a test on cognitive stamina and agility.”
“Her actions have led many to believe that there could be something very wrong with her,” he continued. “Even 60 Minutes and CBS, in order to protect Lyin’ Kamala, illegally and unscrupulously replaced an answer she had given, which was totally ‘bonkers’, with another answer that had nothing to do with the question asked.”
“Also, she is slow and lethargic in answering even the easiest of questions,” Trump continued. “We just went through almost four years of that, we shouldn’t have to do it again!”

Last week, CBS News broadcast an interview with Harris that had been heavily edited, with the vice president’s lengthy and rambling answers – seen in a preview released before the final broadcast – cut and replaced with completely different responses.
Trump initially focused his anger on CBS, declaring that the network should be shut down and sold “to the highest bidder.” However, his latest attack on Harris came after the Democratic candidate questioned his physical and mental fitness.
After releasing a statement from her doctor describing her health as “excellent,” Harris called on Trump to follow suit, claiming that his unwillingness to do so demonstrates that he does “not want the American people to see what he is doing and whether he is fit to be President of the United States.”
At 78, Trump is 19 years Harris’ senior, and is currently the oldest nominee for president by a major party in US history. Trump released a letter from his doctor last November which stated that his “overall health is excellent” and that his “cognitive exams were exceptional.”

Dr. Bruce Aronwald, Trump’s personal physician since 2021, said his cancer screening tests were all negative, cardiovascular tests were normal, and he had reduced his weight through daily physical activity and an “improved diet.”
Trump repeatedly attacked President Joe Biden over his mental and physical fortitude until July, when Biden suspended his reelection campaign after appearing confused during a debate with the former president. With Harris replacing Biden atop the Democratic ticket, Trump repurposed his repertoire of insults and jibes to fit his new opponent.
”Joe Biden became mentally impaired. Kamala was born that way,” Trump said at a campaign rally last month. “She was born that way. And if you think about it, only a mentally disabled person could have allowed this to happen to our country,” he continued, going after Harris for her lax border security performance.

Less than a third of Americans trust US news media, a record low figure, according to a new Gallup poll published Monday.
This year’s poll showed a 1 percentage point drop of Americans who believe the media reports the news fully and accurately from last year. The trend has been on a downward trajectory since 2018.
For the third consecutive year, the number of Americans who claim to completely distrust the media remained higher than those who trust it. The new poll, however, demonstrated a slight drop, with 36% of respondents expressing complete distrust versus 39% in 2023.
Meanwhile, those having “not very much” confidence in the media grew to reach 33% this year.

A large gap remains between Republicans and Democrats, with only 12% of the former expressing trust in media reporting against 54% of the latter. However, the partisan gap has actually been narrowing in the last couple of years. According to data aggregated by Gallup, in 2022, for instance, some 70% of Democrats expressed confidence in the media.
The pollster sampled 1,007 adult Americans living across the country. The survey was conducted over the first two weeks of September via phone interviews. Respondents were picked randomly for the survey.
Gallup first asked Americans the question back in 1972 and has conducted the media trust poll on an almost yearly basis since 1997. While in the 1970s, the trust rate hovered around the 70% mark, it had deteriorated to around 55% by the late 1990s, and has continued to drop over the past two decades

Brussels did not record any serious cases of interference in the June 2024 European Parliament elections, EU commissioner Vera Jourova has admitted. The bloc has previously made claims of Russian meddling and threatened Moscow with sanctions.
In May, the EU parliament denounced Russia as “the main origin of foreign interference and disinformation” in the bloc, and called for more sanctions and tighter censorship. As the European Commission vice president for ‘values and transparency’, Jourova was charged with safeguarding the vote from alleged external meddling.
“Based on currently available information, no major information interference operation capable of disrupting the elections was recorded,” Jourova said in an October 10 report on the election. She repeated that finding on Tuesday, speaking to reporters after a General Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg.
The Czech politician qualified her statement by claiming that “Kremlin propaganda and other malicious actors” still threaten the bloc through the use of “disinformation,” AI, and cyber-attacks.
According to Jourova, EU ‘fact-checkers’ claimed to have seen a surge of disinformation around two weeks before the vote. In addition to claiming the elections were rigged, the stories dealt with “topics that trigger a strong emotional impact – the war in Ukraine and the Middle East, false narratives on climate change, and migrants.”

Jourova accused Russia of being behind the ‘Doppelganger’ network of fake websites impersonating “legitimate media” and using social media bots. The alleged meddlers used AI to spellcheck their texts and generate fake comments under their articles, she claimed.
For all the warnings about AI, however, the NGOs tasked with flagging alleged violations reported just 130 cases of “unlabeled”artificially generated content, mostly ‘cheap fakes’ and ‘shallow fakes’ that did not amount to a “big bang” that could put the election results in question.
Jourova’s report comes just days after EU foreign policy head Josep Borrell put forth a new framework for sanctions against Russia, accusing Moscow of “fake news, election destabilization and cyber warfare,” supposedly with the intent to “undermine the values, security, independence and integrity of the EU and its member states.”
Borrell accused Russia of a “hybrid campaign” to “divide our society, destabilize and weaken the EU,”and undermine support for Ukraine.
Moscow has denied accusations of election meddling, saying it has no interest in the internal affairs of the EU.

That's what I have just read here as projection from Borrell and Jurouva .

Elon Musk has donated $75 million to a pro-Donald Trump group in recent months, the US-based billionaire has confirmed. Founded by the tech mogul himself back in July, America Political Action Committee says it aims to bolster turnout for the Republican nominee in closely contested battleground states, which could decide the November 5 presidential election.
Musk, whose net worth stands at $246.5 billion, says he financially backed both Republican and Democratic candidates in previous campaigns, not showing any clear preference for either party. However, following the failed assassination attempt on Trump on July 13, the tycoon publicly endorsed the GOP candidate, and has been a vocal supporter ever since.
Responding to a post by another X user, who wrote that “Elon Musk has given nearly $75 Million to @America PAC,” the SpaceX and Tesla CEO on Wednesday provided a single-word confirmation.
Earlier that day, Reuters and Bloomberg, citing Federal Election Commission disclosures, reported that Musk had donated nearly $75 million to America PAC between July and September. According to Reuters, the tech mogul was the sole benefactor of the group during that period, emerging as one of the top Republican donors across the board.

America PAC’s primary focus is on recruiting canvassers and placing digital ads to get Trump supporters to vote.
On Sunday, the Republican nominee announced that if elected, he would create a “new position: secretary of cost-cutting,” designed specifically for Musk. Trump added that the entrepreneur, who he described as a “great business guy,” had already expressed a willingness to take on the role.
Earlier this month, the billionaire appeared together with the former president at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was shot at and wounded in July. During the event, Musk described the November 5 vote as the “most important election of our lifetime.” He also accused the Democrats of intending to “take away your freedom of speech.”
In its report on Wednesday, Bloomberg said the Republican nominee was lagging far behind his rival, Kamala Harris, in terms of fundraising. This has allowed the Democratic presidential candidate to mount an active voter mobilization campaign in all seven battleground states, according to the media outlet.

There is something Hilary Clintonesque about the campaign now, it's as if she thinks the job is already hers and all this media attention and stumping round the block gathering votes is just a necessary nuisance that has to be dealt with before she is rightfully appointed as Queen Kamala. Policies, a vision and political beliefs are for the little people who choose to worry about such things, they are well below her and much of the ruling class within the Democratic party.

It's going to hurt, and hurt badly come the day.

Kamala should stay the hell away from that. Its the most watched podcast in the World and she'd bomb badly.

It's genuinely frightening that this is the calibre of presidential candidate considered acceptable to run the US.
And let's be honest.
A republican pushing on 80 is the best thing for the country.
It's not a functional democracy.

There is a thesis in there somewhere. Why is it that such obvious incompetence is acceptable, even celebrated in some quarters? Are we looking at simple dumbing down through media saturation or is it wokeness/cultural Marxism that is gnawing at the bones of the social intellect?

Worth remembering that in any revolution it is the academics that are often targeted first.

Once upon a time, leadership required something more than charisma, more than a cleverly crafted soundbite or a viral video. The statesman—now an endangered species—was not merely a politician, but a man of substance, deeply rooted in principles, faith, and a sense of duty to his people. Today, that ideal has been buried beneath the weight of the digital spectacle, where truth is sacrificed on the altar of expediency, and political power is conferred not to the wise but to the most visible.

Michael Hoffman II, in his critique of modern society, spoke of psycho-spiritual warfare—the deliberate manipulation of the human mind and soul, reducing the populace to passive consumers of illusion. In our era, this warfare has reached its zenith through social media and its progeny, TikTok.

Yeah, real life feels like we’re watching a badly scripted dystopian film these days.

The masses, having been subjected to years of media-driven crypto-oligarchic control (a concept Hoffman used to describe hidden forms of societal domination), now demand entertainment rather than governance.

The political game is not about governance; it is about image management. Our leaders are shaped, packaged, and sold like any other commodity in the consumer marketplace. Politics has become a brand.
