I'm thinking that this might behind Trump's about turn on Ukraine. He came flying in full of brash confidence of coming to a deal with Putin only to realise that Putin is not a businessman at all, but a leader who has his country's interests at heart. Not sure that our Don knows how to cope with that.

Trump is big into gestures as well. His meetings with European ministers at Turnberry, his Scottish golf resort, were pure theatre where he would take in a round of golf before bothering with their company. It was all done on his territory and to his rules and they had to line up to greet the new king.

I detect something of the same here. It's Trump saying to the defence forces, I'm the boss, I can gather you all here at the click of my fingers, however big you may think you are, I have the power.

It's pure showmanship.
 
Actually that is good and the way it should be. They are soldiers and follow orders . There is no such thing as like or dislike. Their job is to do.
