A Possible Energy Shutdown?

i had a loan of a golf 2.0 for 2 weeks when my sister was on her honymoon and i averaged 63 mpg.
your gallon i think is different than ours .
my volvo b12 when the wind is behind its 18 tons fully laden will do 14mpg on cruise control 53 mph at 1100 revs is the sweet spot --i can get better on my own as the cruise control pushes it up a hill like diesel is free --i dont and can get sometimes 15 mpg .
for a 12 liter 18 tonner thats good .
The US gallon is 3.8 litres while the imperial gallon is 4.5 litres (both figures rounded). This is a significant difference and accounts for some of the gas guzzling reputation of American vehicles, their gallon is smaller which, to the casual observer, exagerates the fuel consumption when seen through British/Irish eyes.

Can we have a daily update on the price of juice.

Cheapest I saw today is 3.49 for gas and $5.69 for diesel.

My suburban gets about gets 15 mpg. My sons diesel rv van gets 15. His mustang gets about 22. His VW cc gets about 27 but premium. My wifes accord and daughters CRV get about 33.
The present car is my first with a fuel economy monitor and what has struck me is the huge variability it records, the major factor appearing to be wind strength and direction. Other odddities include the fact the drive into town is always more economical than the drive back over the exact same route, despite the house being at a slightly higher elevation!

in the morning it is colder and the air is more dense and richer with oxygen .
the prevaling wind is a big factor and a small hill climb can effect things hugely .
you will see RECIPES appearing -- 25% veg oil 15%kero 15% petrol giving you diesel fuel slightly below old price .
the older vehicles are more tolerant of mad fuel .
you will have to change your fuel lines and o rings to nitrile rubber or the veg oil will dissolve them into the fuel pump .
you will not have warranty as most cars prohibit the use of biofuels as you can read on the sticker beside the fuel lid.
the first diesel engine ran on groundnut oil .
most large ocean going diesel run on crude oil --sand camel shit and scorpions all will burn -- this is why by law their oil tanks have to be pumped out when they reach port in order to remove debris/ warter /shit from the fuel.
the marine engines are 2 stroke and max revs are 300 approx and they are generally 14 cyl and you can shut down a cyl and work on it while you are crossing the ocean and they have an overhead gantry crane to do just that and its not unusual for a tanker to cross an ocean with one cyl off line .

The discrepancy on the trip to town and back occurs whatever the time of day. If I just pop into the shops and return within the hour it happens, my instinct would be that the trip in should use more fuel as I usually start with a cold engine but nope, always more fuel on the way back!

Acceleration is the other other big factor, most noticeable when slowing down and then accelerating back up to cruising speed from motorway toll booths, but cruise cruise control is a bonus in keeping consumption down overall.

Yet the most important aspect is fuel quality. I will, as much as possible, only put Circle K Miles Plus in, yes it's dearer but it is a far superior fuel, whether diesel or petrol. If I can't get it for some reason a dose of Diptane usually improves the consumption and engine running.

Should you get to Hamburg sometime I would highly recommend a visit to the museum ship Cap San Diago, one of the last true ocean freighters from the early sixties. Once on board you can crawl around the engine room to your heart’s content complete with spare pistons, heads and all the kit required to replace them. Seen her three times myself now -

It might be to an extent but not when elevations and depressions come along.

The machine can't predict when a hill is upcoming but you can. So if you add some power heading up an incline to keep the speed constant in advance of the hill and then feather the throttle and let the engine do the work you'll save fuel.

Similarly coming down the other side you can just let the engine do the work with minimal if any throttle input.

Cruise control only realises its on a hill when its actually on it and will try and make up for it by putting on the power quite hard.

Cruise control has come into its own with the advent of ever more powerful engines which will happily take you over the limit with only the slightest extra pressure on the accelerator. When not using it on the motorway I am always dropping back in speed then having to speed up then dropping back again and so on because the throttle is so sensitive. Cruise control does away with all that and I can happily leave it in top gear on the M'way with it set at 120 or whatever, and there aren't the diesel gulping bursts of acceleration.

That is. 7.4 litre 1971 Chevelle

The proper order of things! 😄

you have driven myles . they are mad looking for drivers to train in all the big dublin cos.

Protests ongoing in Dublin, Cork, Galway. They were blocking the docks in galway and say they will stay until the traitor politicians talk to them. Various TDs speaking outside GPO.

Garda Sicini have decided NOT to use tear gas and batons. It's always more fun to use them against little old ladies, not cranky farmers and truckers.

SF backing these protests.... Ffs, SF are part of the problem not the solution, they should fcuk off and stick with their muslim supporters

Correction: the lads in Galway are blocking the docks "until the price comes down". They are right. Talking to politicians is a complete waste of time. They are agreement incapable. They are paid to talk to us while their masters stab us in the back.

Sinn Fein are outrageous traitors, of course - they are trying to get some street cred by supporting the demo. SF TDs are getting many vulgar threats and insults from the general public, neighbours etc. Martin Kenny had to move his whole family away from his native place in Leitrim because the locals were mocking them so much!

Soon, the same evil SF fuckers who called us fascists will be joining the protests at the latest refugee hotel.

Martin Kenny.... A pro open border, mass migration lover....absolute khunt. Right there is SFs problem, despite pretending to be against open borders, far too many liberal socialists in that party that hate the Irish. They would side with Cromwell against the east wall protestors.

The 'success' of the covid lockdown was due, in a major part, to the shock and awe tactics of an unknown virus which induced an incredible level of cooperation in the public. Fuel shortages are not unknown and any hope that major consumers of diesel might cooperate has been blown cleanly out of the water by todays protests.

Well hopefully the protests will work but as people are saying, if the likes of SF are involved I wonder are they designed to fail.

Yes there is no shock and awe yet but what about a nuclear blast, and then a statement that you cannot use any Gulf oil now anyway because of the radioactive cloud? That could be the panic element they need...

Are SF actually involved in organising it, or just jumping on the bandwagon? If the nuclear balloon does up then all bets are off anyway.

My guess is SF are just bandwaggoning. Maybe the truckers invited them to speak, and they could not refuse without exposing themselves?

MSM clowns are certainly pushing the idea of rationing, banging on about Hormuz being "closed" but they have to admit that it is open to Indians, Chinamen, Frenchies and everybody else, as long as they are polite to the Iranians.

We could solve the fuel price crisis just by being polite to the Iranians.

What is very significant is that the Gardai are not moving them on, even though blockading entrances is clearly a tear gassing and torture offence. One of their posts boasted "Gardai 100% onboard". Gardai are ethno-nationalists too, when they are not taking bribes from the Pak mafia.

Anyway Diarmuid and Seekthefairland are/were having a great debate here on how Irish people will react to this second lockdown, Diarmuid reckons there is no grounds for fatalism and 'Seek' has been here before and reckons we are toast.

For what its worth I was on the stump going around the place during the last lockdown, trying to warn about it etc. I remember being on the streets of Cavan handing out literature against the vaccine and yes it would turn your blood cold how much people were brainwashed then (we only got dogs abuse).

So I am a little pessimistic but at the same time I wonder is something stirring here that maybe we should talk about. I know hardly anybody is with me on this but they say 'how goes the Church, so goes the Nation'. That is, in my opinion how this will play out, remember those who fear God fear nothing else and during the pandemic I used to regularly meet up with people from the Catholic traditional movement, because, I think, they just had that courage to face up to state power that many others lacked. On that front then we have this small revival and I am hopeful that it will spill over a little into politics.

I am hopeful then that we will have more opposition this time, but its also going to be difficult to see the way ahead for people. Even though this is a scam, I'd say, in the sense that if we had real leaders we could have found our own oil and gas, or at least not spent money on useless windfarms, and it was all planned to perfection by the globalists for decades out, but its still the case that on the ground in Ireland we won't have fuel so its going to be very difficult to get to protests or to see how protests are going to magically create the fuel we will desperately need.

So we won't have as coherent or simple a message as don't take the vaccine but anyway I am therefore of Diarmuid's persuasion.

If the fuel shortage is created by the Irish govt, then all we have to do to get more fuel is to force the govt to do it. There is plenty of cheap fuel in the US, Iran, Russia.

If the fuel shortage is caused by global govt, then it is true the irish govt can do nothing. It's back to shank's mare, and plenty of it. Food will have to be imported and distributed on foot.

We'll need twenty thousand people just wheeling human manure out of Dublin every day. If there's no electricity, how will we pump all the sewage away????

Farmers still blocking O'connell St and the Luas line. The Journal is allowing commenters to suggest a slurry tank attack on Leinster House. Smaoineamh iontach! Ten minutes with a JCB on a Dublin Airport runway would close it for two days.

Great to see such cooperation with our usually treacherous Garda Sicini. Shouldn't they be pepper spraying and tasering the peaceful protestors? Is Justin Kelly doing a soft coup? Does he fancy himself as Caesar?

National Party put out a great Easter message:

"On this Good Friday, we stand beneath the Cross, the ultimate symbol of faith, sacrifice, and victory over evil.

We remember the Son of God Who overturned the tables of the moneychangers," and so on and so forth.

Those who fear God fear nothing else - bingo. Courage is a great asset in any struggle. Even if God doesn't exist, belief in God supplies courage. Even if Jesus never existed his criticism of Judaism is as funny and relevant now as then.

Protestors blocking O'Connell St, also Galway, Cork, Foynes, Limerick and Tipperary. Two FG councillors show up in Galway, claiming to support the protest.

Ongoing Garda collaboration with protests :). Great to see. The cops colloborate with criminals, crazies, psychos, traitors and Planters all the time, so it's great to see them collaborating with the Honest Irish, for a change. Credit where it is Jew.

Smells like regime change.

The politicians are feeling the pressure. They are about to break. Slimy Simon will be on the plane to Moscow to apologise to Putin.

Predictions: Petrol down to 1.20 a litre by next week. Pat Kenny to support the Curragh being prepared to accommodate Israeli citizens "for their own safety" and does an interview with Tucker. Helen McEntee to put on a burqa and go to Iran.

Putin will be asking as to who the feck is Slimey Simon?

Micky Martin is getting angry and wants the protestors swept away. Greater disruption today than yesterday. Tomorrow more again, unless they cap fuel prices (1 euro for ag diesel, 1.70 for regular).

Cops still ignoring the request from Micky M :)

Not the smartest move of Martin's. 75% of the rural population will be involved in, or have relatives who are, ag or haulage.

I support the fuel protests, but the farmers should reconsider who they vote for...nearly half of them voted for FF/FG and will likely continue to do so.

The energy shutdown has started.

Fuel protests are continuing in several areas after yesterday’s national demonstration over surging energy costs, with protest organisers calling for further action tomorrow
Protests are continuing on the M8 close to Cashel in Co Tipperary, with disruption also reported this morning in Galway, Limerick and Cork
In Dublin, there is major transport disruption this morning with the Luas partially suspended and disruption to Dublin Bus services as protesters extend a blockade
Protesters are blocking oil terminals at Galway and Foynes

Oil prices have dropped 15% in the last day and some are forecasting $60 a barrel this year as the market is in fact oversupplied. The present hike is due to logistics, not an oil shortage per se, the protesters need to be careful that they are not compounding the issue through blockades of terminals, sympathy for the cause will soon evaporate if so.

Oil Prices Are Set to Fall Below $60 Next Year

Both opinion polls and elections are potentially rigged, so the figures are questionable.
And the biggest group of farmers are those who do not vote at all - probably between a third and a half. Next elections are in four years, barring the by-elections.

The by-elections will be rigged: none of the candidates are saying anything about possible rigging, so it will be easily done.

Heard a feisty gal on Liveline saying that the Gardai are responsible for ensuring that sick/urgent cases can get through the blockade. So if you're in a hurry, call the cops. Or avoid the obvious locations.

Heard some anti-Ukrainian jibes from protestors. No pushback from MSM clowns..

Interesting that MSM are publicising the protests and the Gardai are facilitating them. Keep up the good work, all MSM and gardai reading this.

Great to see Paul "cue ball" Murphy and his pbp chums being chased away from the O'Connell st protest, told in no uncertain terms to fuk off, which they duly did. Poor cue ball, thought he was going to relive the water protest, but people are wise to these khunts

Cue Ball bounced off the table ! ! !

Vote rigging is a fairly recent accusation and still considerd to be somewhat on the fringe by many, it needs to gain more traction before it gets talked about by candidates.

Typical chancers, wait to see which way the wind is blowing before trying to climb aboard. We can be assured that should the MSM and Garda have taken the opposite tack then Murphy would have stayed away.

Oh dear. Big Jim O"Callaghan is threatening : protestors will "pay dearly" if they break the law. Micky Martin and Darragh fatso also issuing threats.

Will the cops batter the farmers?

Hard to image ne many hanging on past 3 days. How many have gone home already?????
