King’s White House visit threatens to be overshadowed by Portaloo

A royal visit to the White House is never complete without... a visit to the Portaloo?

When Donald Trump hosts the King in Washington this April, the US is set to roll out the red carpet for His Majesty with an elaborately decorated large tent on the South Lawn – complete with a portable toilet conveniently stationed outside.

The White House secretary Will Scharf set the less-than-ideal scene during a meeting, which set out plans to tear down the White House's east wing to build a $400m luxury ball room.

Large state dinners have been hosted by US presidents in ornate tents on the White House grounds for years.

“I think it’s notable that when the President of the United States of America flies to the United Kingdom, he’s hosted at Windsor Castle,” Mr Scharf told the meeting at the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC).

“When next year the, the King comes to the United States, more likely than not he will be hosted ... in a tent on the South Lawn with porta-potties.”

Flush Charlie-Boy down the sewer !

Trump and him are good mates. Trump said the only reason he hasn't deported Harry is because Charlie asked him not to.

Britain and France want to ‘set Europe on fire’ – Hungary

Britain and France risk dragging Europe into an all-out war with Russia with their plans to deploy troops to Ukraine, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has said.

On Tuesday, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron signed a declaration of intent with Ukraine to establish “military hubs” in the country after a peace deal is signed with Moscow. UK Defense Secretary John Healey later said during a visit to Kiev that London would spend $270 million on equipping units ready to become part of a “multinational force.”

Hungary has consistently opposed further escalation with Russia and has urged the EU and UK to focus on diplomacy. Speaking at a congress of the ruling conservative Fidesz party on Saturday, Szijjarto said the “war fanaticism” of Western European leaders was “throwing Hungary into the greatest danger.”

“Last weekend, a statement was released in Paris announcing the two European nuclear powers’ decision to send their troops to Ukraine. Essentially, this means that the European nuclear powers are starting a war. Their goal, let us be clear, is to engulf all of Europe in flames,”
the diplomat said.

Szijjarto argued that the EU viewed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban as “the only obstacle” to its plans and was seeking to replace him with a pro-Ukrainian leader in parliamentary elections scheduled for April.

“If we win the election, we will stay out of the war,” he said. “If we do not win, then the Brussels–Kiev plan will be implemented.”

Under the plan outlined in Paris, Britain and France would deploy troops to help build protected weapons facilities and take part in US-led truce monitoring. The US has ruled out sending its own soldiers to Ukraine.

On Thursday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that Moscow would treat any Western troops or military sites in Ukraine as “a foreign intervention” posing a threat to its security.

Russia has listed Ukrainian neutrality as one of its key conditions for a lasting peace, specifying no foreign troops on the ground.

UK defense secretary names world leader he’d like to kidnap

John Healey’s comments have come in the wake of the US capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro

UK Defense Secretary John Healey has said he would kidnap Russian President Vladimir Putin if given a choice out of all world leaders. The British official was answering a question from the Kiev Independent during a visit to the Ukrainian capital on Friday.

His comments came a week after the US captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife in a military raid on the oil-rich South American country. Maduro had previously warned that Washington wanted a regime change and to get its hands on Venezuelan resources.
The US actions drew strong condemnation from BRICS nations, including Russia, India, China, and Brazil, but also prompted a string of calls from Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky to adopt similar tactics against Moscow.

The Kiev Independent asked Healey what he would do “given the option of being able to kidnap any world leader.” The secretary said he would “take Putin into custody” while accusing the Russian president of “war crimes,” including the “kidnapping” of Ukrainian children – something that Russian negotiators publicly denied during talks in Istanbul last year.

London has previously emerged as one of Kiev’s key backers in its conflict with Moscow. In December, the British chief of defense staff urged the nation to be ready to switch to a wartime mindset in the event of hostilities with Russia.

Zelensky commented on the American raid by saying that “the United States knows what to do next” in a thinly veiled hint at Putin’s kidnapping. US President Donald Trump then dismissed the idea, saying it would be unnecessary when asked by journalists.

Ukraine’s leader then openly called on Washington to kidnap the head of Russia’s Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov. He quickly shot back, telling Zelensky to “man up” and try it himself.

Moscow has denounced the abduction of Maduro as a gross violation of Venezuelan sovereignty. The Russian envoy to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, described the US raid as “banditry” pushing the world toward “chaos and lawlessness.”

That's probably because Putin is running rings around the west.

It is impossible to comprehend the idiocy of the UK and EU, what exactly are they trying to achieve? There never seems to be a clear goal, just a burning hatred of Russia, that's no way to play a responsible role in world politics.

The thing is, the UK is definitely posturing about all this War, and sending troops to here, there and everywhere ~ The UK hardly has two Troops to rub together ~ And we all know what Keir Starmer would be doing with Two Troops if he had them to rub together ! !

Ditto for Macron ~ ~ He too would be a Rubber of Troops, given the opportunity ! !

America will tell these Two Gimps what to do when and where it suit them ! !

Whenever I read things like this, I wonder how it was possible to work like this on a diet consisting mostly of tea, potatoes and bread and margarine.

From the road to Wigan pier, George Orwell, who before writing books liek 1984 was a social reporter in the vein of Henry Mayhew. In chapter two, he reports on the working conditions of coal miners.

Even when you watch the process of coal-extraction you probably only watch it for a short time, and it is not until you begin making a few calculations that you realize what a stupendous task the ‘fillers’ are performing.
Normally each man has to clear a space four or five yards wide. The cutter has undermined the coal to the depth of five feet, so that if the seam of coal is three or four feet high, each man has to cut out, break up and load onto the belt something between seven and twelve cubic yards of coal.
This is to say, taking a cubic yard as weighing twenty-seven hundred-weight, that each man is shifting coal at a speed approaching two tons an hour.
I have just enough experience of pick and shovel work to be able to grasp what this means. When I am digging trenches in my garden, if I shift two tons of earth during the afternoon, I feel that I have earned my tea.
But earth is tractable stuff compared with coal, and I don’t have to work kneeling down, a thousand feet underground, in suffocating heat and swallowing coal dust with every breath I take; nor do I have to walk a mile bent double before I begin.
The miner’s job would be as much beyond my power as it would be to perform on a flying trapeze or to win the Grand National.
I am not a manual labourer and please God I never shall be one, but there are some kinds of manual work that I could do if I had to. At a pinch I could be a tolerable road-sweeper or an inefficient gardener or even a tenth-rate farm hand.
But by no conceivable amount of effort or training could I become a coal-miner; the work would kill me in a few weeks.

This type of corruption is going on in Ireland and probably all Western Countries ( and I am sure else-where )

These NGOs are just Corruption dressed us as something else ! ! !
I would imagine the corruption and waste in Ireland is off the scale. We have had bumper corporation tax past few years, but an all too familiar response is we, the tax payers, are not feeling it.... We didn't get a tax cut in the last budget and the USC remains in place, so all this extra cash is going on NGOs and the likes of banty etc

https://www.rte.ie/news/2026/0112/1552659-murder-boy-court/ A harrowing read. Strange thing is if you do a search back to 2021 - everyone related to this case is mentioned (child parents and step mother)- so how come there's a ban on naming them now? (They are Irish by the way.....) Also google the step mother - seems she was involved in another infamous incident in prison a few years ago....

so how come there's a ban on naming them now? (They are Irish by the way.....)
Thanks for researching it. Is it possible to print the names here? We are all based in the US anyway, so...

The courts and the politicians love to protect the criminals and punish the innocent. That is why they don't want this lady named.

Not sure about the rules, but it's an easy search, a lot of facts in the rte article, google them and you will see the original reporting with all named.... Also google the step mothers name in an unrelated recent incident...

There was a neighbour of my mother's who got sucked into some kind of machine in Tynagh reducing him to mince.
Those injuries sound life threatening. It was hardly a Ferguson TVO.
