Interesting that this would pop up now. Recently I have got sick of watching the whole thing. Long since stopped watching and reading the MSM. Sick sore and tired of doomscrolling on Facebook, filled with stories that just annoy you. Even the alternative scene podcasts are the same old, same old.

I recently found in a charity shop a slim book called 'Stop Reading the News' that fitted into the funk I was in. Its advice was to stop reading the news but the author extended the argument to 150 odd pages. It's essence was that you were not in position to do anything about the events yet you filled your head with a plethora of details on issues that really didn't affect your immediate life. What was the benefit to know about a fire that claimed lives in India? Or the trip around the darkside of the moon? His mitigation was allow your local community news or pick one topic and go in very deep on it.

The same sort of vibe is being given off by Neil Oliver. He is basically saying that you know they are cunts, you know that they are out to get us, what's the point of giving your energy to them by following every twist and turn of narratives at a national or international level they present to us. Live your life as best you can away from those who seek your attention.

I am trying my best to deliberately avoid Facebook and Telegram. To avoid the long form podcasts that regularly listened to whilst out walking. They had just become white noise or company of voices which I wasn't really listening to but were on. I'm still listening to James Delingpole podcast as you get a lot of interviews which are madcap, and probably just nonsense theories but are enjoyable as entertainment.

Alex Mercourice, his buddy the other Alex, mcagregor and the nuclear lad are four that should be avoided. A spate of financial lads should be avoided as well. I dont scroll fb much, I just reply to comments to me. I do minimal telegram, no tik tok, no instragram

Makes a lot of sense. But when the globalists try something bad in our neighbourhood we need to be ready and united to defeat them. Rather than concentrating on globalists globally, we need to identify globalists locally and figure out some way to - legally - neutralise them.

Globalists and useful idiots seem to be only 20% of the population.

Happy to say that I was on FB for about three weeks ten or more years ago and have never returned. It is only LinkedIn and Sarsfields that gain my attention now although I find myself communicating by WhatsApp occasionally. Social media as it now is can absorb far too much time and energy and it is a pitying site to see grown men gormlessly scroll through various feeds watching memes and other crap while ignoring all around them.

As for the press itself then it is simply there to reinforce a narrative, not relay the news.

Indeed, I remember spending hours a week listening to the Duran at the start of the Ukraine War. Now I cant tolerate Alex Mercouris.. the old windbag. So many predictions of the Ukraine Army on the brink of collapse. Another my wife watches religiously is UK Column. It has now descended into in-fighting with accusations of 'Zionist' to previous contributors and shady funders with Chinese connections. To my mind it looks like more artificial soap opera to engage the audience. Its an arc that so many of these alternative commentators seem to follow.

Has anyone noticed how standards of spellings and grammar in news articles have taken a nose dive lately. Now I am far from proficient in these things myself, but you would think a professional writer would proof read articles before being posted or printed.
Here's one example, a story about "a camper" being rescued off the Comeragh mountains after "their" tent got blown away.
Maybe the camper is a them/they?
Another example is this one about the differences between regular diesel and diesel plus or "diesel pus" as the careless author wrote.

Has :)

Eh, I think that's fine 🤔

You were right that the use of "their" in the context of that article is fine.
I think their may be fine, to use "their" to refer to the possessions of the camper if we don't know the gender, but it has to be silly grammar to say the rescue team escorted "them" down and that "they" did the right thing calling for assistance.

The funny thing about English is, is that I couldn't tell you anything about the rules, or what things are called. I just about know what a verb and a noun are. But I do know how to speak it proper.. eh lee

I was thinking about that, but I think its use in situations where you don't know the individual in a personal capacity is okay. For example, if you were in a shop and you saw someone stealing something and fleeing from the shop - and the security man asked you where he/she went and you replied: "They ran that way", I dont think that would sound unusual.

It's very possible that the journalist is using the term to be "inclusive", which is a load of shite.

Ya load of shite.

An excellent idea to prevent potential election jiggery-pokery, though obviously a shame it wasn't done before the 2024/25/26 elections. Is fearr go deanach na go brach, is docha.
Hopefully, there will be some useful response if we sign up. From Gemma's Anti-Corruption Ireland onwards I've signed up to lots of these good ideas and very, very, very rarely have I got a decent response. You'd almost think they were data harvesting ops just to check who is still opposed to the system.

One suspicious sign is the TBA -Total Bearloir Attitude. If you haven't got room for cupla focail....Tus maith, leath na h-oibre agus mar sin de.

I hope the crusty clowns are happy now Ireland's home advantage has been wiped out.
The game will go ahead no matter what, just not in Ireland.
Leftists are the most stupid people on earth.

Totally agree that we should let the game go ahead in ireland. Select our nastiest, most bloodthirsty Negroes and Muslims for the irish team and get them all worked up about Palestine before the match starts. Promise them immunity, a bottle of vodka, a two blonde prostitutes and a free return flight to their motherland.

Our Negroes and Muslims will batter the Israeli team, break their legs and rape them to roars of approval from the crowd. We can film it and sell it as pay per view. Torture videos are very popular in certain parts of the world.

And the best bit is that we would keep the three points.

What is sauce for the Palestinian girl is certainly sauce for Jewish soccer player.

Our African players would also be enticed with an offer to attend a rap event post match, if they beat Israel, Machettes provided in da klub with a heavy dose of disrespect to set things off around 3am
