In 1630 I think it was.
It is not comparable. People bought tulips to sell to greater fools.

most people who buy gold coins have no interest whatsoever in selling, for ever . Unless the currency completely collapses and a hotel sold for a sovereign that the doorman was tipped a few years earlier in Weimar Germany

I did not have time to really read what roc said. He never bought a stock in his life.

it actually should be taught in schools. Especially nowadays where you can trade a zero commission and buy even a single share if you wanted.

We have a financial nuclear bomb here as we must raise the debt ceiling and that might be difficult

all the rats that wanted to raise it a couple of months ago dont now and vice versa

At the moment they are sort of raiding pools to f money in different apartments etc but they will all be used up by april if not sooner

The bottom was 254 when Gordon Brown sold the english gold.
It was an easy call

and I can prove it because I still have the receipts

No. As regards the entire crypto scene, I am just a regular person. I just observe bitcoin, and now the trump coin and the melania coin.

Looking back on investing , I would say never short stocks because with the money expanding, the deck is stacked against you. So a mediocre company will still see its share price rise. So keep that in mind. In the old days , the saying was, Don’t fight the Fed. Nowadays it is worse as the fed always inflates

If there is one thing that does not bother me, it is slagging. Unless the person maybe is better educated than I.

Your problem is, stupidity. Anyone can check when this house was last purchased, for how much, its present value and property taxes etc.
And my mother in law died just a couple of years ago at 97.

Now, rant away on the chat thread as much as you wish, but this thread is about gold and silver.

I am off now on my 5 mile walk which you cant grasp either as you are most likely immobile yourself

We are going to see some drop in assets tomorrow, stocks , crypto, metals etc. The vital one is the bonds, if they drop and interest rates rises, it will be very serious very fast.

The temptation will be to buy perceived bargains, that could be very bad this time.
I will sit tight, and at most, buy a few, far out of the money options, relatively near expiration, and therefore very very cheap, as they are extremely longshots.
I look forward to tomorrow

A word to the wise. If you're taking investment advice or even asking for it, from a culchey far-right delusional leprechaunish scrote living in a falling apart clapboard house in a shit part of Dedham, that he didn't even buy himself, his wife inherited it in 1998 when her Mam passed on, you need your fucking head examined.

Gold and silver are a sure bet because humans have a primordial attraction to them as a measurement of value, etc. Especially given how the Dollar may well collapse they are worth looking into.

I link to the active contract. As you point out, the “spot “ price is about 40 dollars below that usually.

To buy a coin, it is about a hundred above spot so a coin is $3008 at the least if buying in bulk

Gone above 2900 on the spot price in 2 weeks. The one ounce eagle coin is above $3000 now.

it will take decent physical buying to keep above 3000

No shortage . Very rarely is there a wait except the mint might be overwhelmed ever now and again. But there is always older coins etc.

The store a couple of miles awaya small store, told me that anytime, a person could walk in with say 6g and buy 2 coins. In that store, I would say large orders are exceedingly rare. I am guessing most buy one coin as a gift or whatever. Maybe some buy a coin a week, who knows, but he foes not run out.

I would only suggest buting dilver myself for a regular person. I myself, dont need any more.
But I do stop for a chat occasionally and will haggle and buy a single coin for $40, and I will give him a $5 for a coffee.

A casual buyer would buy a roll of 20 for about 825 today I am guessing or 41 dollars a silver eagle

Get the popcorn out. Doge is going to audit Fort Knox. We shall see if the rumours of gold coloured tungsten which have been flying around are true.
If they find tungsten - and admit to it - gold will hit the stratosphere.

I doubt they'll admit to it. There has been an awful lot of US buying of gold lately. Perhaps in advance of an audit, and an attempt to offset some US debt by recalibrating the official US gold price of $45 an ounce to the current value? But you can't offset debt if there is no gold. The buying indicates that there may well have been no gold all this time.

There was once a photo of a lady holding up a gold bar in a pair of scales which was said to have been taken in the Fort Knox vaults. Wretched conspiracy theorist types would point out that the scales registered only a fraction of the weight they should, and anyway, they were far too heavy to lift and hold as the lady appeared to be doing.

Strangely, I can no longer find that image on the web, this is the closest I got -

It's the paper gold holders that are worried.
Or the unallocated gold holders.
You have X dollars of that 100 ounce bar.
May you live in Interesting times.

Could that be a silver bar because the size looks right. Gold is a lot heavier and more hat size ze would be more than 100 ounce bar.

That was one of the gaffs in The Godfather. A gold telephone would weigh like an anvil and could not be handed round

The global rug plug has begun and the metals will be hammered as well. Those with cash will buy cheap but a lot will voluntarily or be forced to throw in the towel here.
