They are talking a lot in the newspapers about Heather Humphries, the former Presbyterian Government Minister from Co. Monaghan, succeeding Mairead McGuinness as the Fine Gael candidate and hence frontrunner for the Presidency.

When you do some research on her she seems fine ,
she has great experience and is 65 which is the year you are reborn as a pensioner and your entire outlook changes and you look at the clock and calendar and wonder what is left and how am i going to fit in all I have to do .
I would vote for her and I have only read 4 pages about her .
she would not let us down and a Presbyterian as president is no harm either .

Aww noooo. Don't you remember her from covid times? Arguably better than that Galway commie or the FF wan (Mary something) but - ach no. Can't we have someone fun and hip to the facts. Sick of their flamin' heads altogether.
Even George Best would be better.
I said Best - ya lol. Meant Hook ofc.

Because its relevant, surely a persons religion is a significant fact about that person? Especially a President?

No, it isn't really

Because it's an insignificant role, generally filled by just another progressive asswipe

I think It's pretty clear, you attach significance to it based on your religion, as you do pretty much everything else

Crom is the only exclusives protestant town in the republic and they are to a man members of the orange order however they are not unionists they are republicans if you can figure that out .

Myles, do you think a person who rejects the church that Christ founded is a ‘Christian’?
Does anyone know WTF Tiglet is talking about? 🤔

This fucker should be behind bars, not even considering running for any political or ceremonial office.

Conor McGregor has announced on twitter that he has already got the nomination, with Councils Tds and Senators on his side. He has provided no details though.

We are at the very end of August now, with a Presidential election possible in very late September, and there is still no candidate for the three big parties who can nominate easily, or even a clear front runner for each. Sean Kelly MEP has said he will challenge for the Fine Gael one, against Humphreys, there is no word from Sinn Fein and there is a whole host of FF possibles but nothing definite. Bertie Ahern has now effectively said he is a candidate, or at least wonders why the leadership don't back him, Mary Hanafin is always in the picture, Billy Kelleher MEP has announced his candidacy and Minister Chambers is backing Jim Gavin, the former Dublin football manager.

Meanwhile outside the parties Maria Steen, who came to prominence in the pro life campaign, has announced she is running.

Whatever furniture has not been bolted down Kelly will hand over to the EU tomorrow.

What's the point Bocht? What difference does it make who gets this meaningless position.
It doesn't have to be meaningless. As much as I'm not a fan someone like McGregor - if we believe he's genuine - could shame the craven lot we call our rulers into more reasonable action. For that alone I'd cast my vote for him.
But yea in all likelihood it'll be another loon the braindead sheep will put into the Aras. My aras.

This idea that the presidency is unimportant, is absolutely not the case, the fact that it was occupied by Globalists in the last few decades has disguised its great importance.

To take a simple point, as pointed out above its analogous to the role of a monarch in the Westminister Model of Democracy. In short think Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II and you get a feel for the role, but in fact the idea that these people were outside and uninfluential in the politics of their country, is totally not the case. All you have to do watch any episode of the 'The Crown' series, much of which is base on true history, to get an idea of that monarchs huge role in British politics.

This massive role is likely to continue under Charles III if you read articles like these: https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2011/oct/30/prince-charles-offered-veto-legislation and

Catholics are "Globalists", too

The Guardian article is about a "constitutional loophole" (the then) Prince Charles could avail of. What's it got to do with the price of cabbage? 🤔

That's the same guy as is now the King, so is he going to exercise a similar veto as King? The Daily Mail has heard some straws in the wind that that is exactly what he intends to do with respect to the abortion and euthanasia legislation passed by Westminster recently.

It's not clear that he vetoed anything and again, I'm not sure what it has to do with the office of Irish president

I wonder why Shit Fein don't just run Gerry Adams ? He'd easily get triple the amount of votes that their 2018 candidate got.
