Imagine giving your life for Liz Truss

British fighter in the Ukraine inspired by Liz Truss killed himself after coming home

A young British man who took his own life after fighting in the Ukraine went to the Country after Liz Truss, the former Prime Minister, claimed anyone who did so would be joining a “battle for democracy”, his family said.

Speaking after his inquest at Norfolk Coroner’s Court last week, his family said his decision to go to the Ukraine came after the former Prime Minister who was his local MP and foreign secretary at the time, said she “absolutely” supported any Britons who wanted to travel to fight the Russians, arguing they would be joining a battle “for democracy”.

He was found hanged after returning to his home in Thetford, Norfolk, the day after his 25th birthday.

It is a very difficult situation. I was dining in a pub grub place last week and an man told me that when his wife was
alive they went to Poland as part of a holiday and the older Poles told them their parents were glad to see Hitler round up the Jews and take them off. The Jews had everything, they owned everything of any value. They held ll the money.

So there has been precious little coverage of the report that Israel had to file as ordered at the ICJ hearing on the 26th of January. It was submitted although its contents were not revealed.

'JERUSALEM, Feb 26 (Reuters) - Israel on Monday filed a report with the International Court of Justice about measures taken to comply with an interim ruling that called on it to prevent Gaza war actions that might amount to genocide, an Israeli official said.

The official did not provide details on the content of the report, which was filed hours before the deadline for its submission.

Last month the U.N.'s top court ordered Israel to refrain from any acts that could fall under the Genocide Convention and to ensure its troops commit no genocidal acts against Palestinians after South Africa accused Israel of state-led genocide. Israel and its Western allies described the allegation as baseless.'

Israel files report with World Court on Gaza measures, Israeli official says - Reuters

Here's an explainer of the court's decision and the consequences of Israel ignoring the court order.

'Unfortunately, if Israel fails to comply with the order, all roads will inevitably lead back to the Security Council. Article 94(2) of the United Nations (UN) Charter stipulates that “If any party to a case fails to perform the obligations incumbent upon it under a judgment rendered by the Court, the other party may have recourse to the Security Council, which may, if it deems necessary, make recommendations or decide upon measures to be taken to give effect to the judgment” (emphasis). Pursuant to Article 41(2) of the court’s statute, the Security Council will be formally notified of the court’s decision. How the Security Council will respond is anyone’s guess. The problem of course is that because of the veto powers of the Security Council’s five permanent members, it is unlikely that the Security Council will be willing or able to enforce the January 26 Order. Not surprisingly, in a statement released immediately after the ICJ’s decision, South Africa asserted that “[t]he veto power wielded by individual states cannot be permitted to thwart international justice, not least in light of the ever-worsening situation in Gaza.”'

The South Africans have asked for further measures as per a press release from the ICJ on March 6th.

'THE HAGUE, 6 March 2024. South Africa today filed an urgent request with the Court for
the indication of additional provisional measures and the modification of the Court’s Order of
26 January 2024 and decision of 16 February 2024 in the case concerning Application of the
Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip (South
Africa v. Israel).

In its new request, South Africa states that it is “compelled to return to the Court in light of
the new facts and changes in the situation in Gaza — particularly the situation of widespread
starvation — brought about by the continuing egregious breaches of the Convention on the
Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide . . . by the State of Israel . . . and its ongoing
manifest violations of the provisional measures indicated by this Court on 26 January 2024”.
It requests the Court to indicate further provisional measures and/or to modify the provisional
measures indicated it its Order of 26 January 2024, pursuant to Article 41 of the Statute of the Court
and Article 75, paragraphs 1 and 3, and Article 76, paragraph 1, of the Rules of Court, respectively,
“in order urgently to ensure the safety and security of 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza, including
over a million children”. It urges the Court to do so without holding a hearing, in light of the “extreme
urgency of the situation”.'

Turns out there was a case being prepared for the ICJ relating to Israel's occupation of Palestine as reported by the UN on August 30th 2023.

'Highlighting the international community’ paralysis and lack of progress to hold Israel accountable for its actions, the Permanent Observer reported on preparations for the case being brought before the International Court of Justice that exposes Israel’s prolonged illegal practices and policies that deny the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, as the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People approved its annual report today.'

Case Before International Court of Justice Will Expose Israel’s Prolonged Illegal Policies, Permanent Observer Tells Palestinian Rights Committee - UN

The Americans are now going to build a floating dock to transit food directly into Gaza, avoiding the roadblocks at the land entry points.

'It’s a complex operation, involving as many as 1,000 U.S. troops, and it won’t happen overnight. Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, the Pentagon press secretary, told reporters it will take weeks for this to come together. Some officials say it will take about two months. And beyond the logistical challenges, the operation will depend on Israel’s cooperation, which isn’t assured.'

How the US military is scrambling to build a floating dock for urgently needed aid to Gaza - Associated Press

There was another instance of when floating docks were used - although at a much larger scale. They docks are inventory items for the Navy and have a similar function to mounted bridging equipment for the Army.

'The harbor project was given the codename Mulberry. They were to be constructed at Normandy in just two weeks and to have the capacity of the Port of Dover.

...

Both harbours were operating from a week after D-Day and when at maximum capacity - a truck or vehicle was being unloaded every minute and sixteen seconds'

Mulberry Harbours: How The Allies Floated Concrete To Win D-Day - Forces.Net

This is either exposing the US Military's lack of capability again or indicates a go slow in the Pentagon. The European Allies don;t appear to either have the equipment or intention to support this operation. Take, in contrast, Russia's construction of the bridge to Crimea or their ramping up of munitions production. I'm not being pro-Russian, I'm just saying that they were able to get things done.

It's not a question of money here, it's a question of competence. That's the real challenge the West is facing at the moment and its apparent absence is destabilising previously functional steady states in the international order.

The US Administration needs to put pressure on the SecDef to get this done asap, and not just for the transportation of food aid, but also to demonstrate that their capabilities aren't shoddy. They need to walk the walk and be seen to do so. Instances such as these are why the American public is discouraged in the ability of the oligarchy to adequately govern.

Meanwhile, Bibi desperately seeks an escalation. In the future there is only war.

Famine in a goldfish bowl.

  • Sex: Females survive longer than males. This is true even in famines.4

  • Age: Children are at higher risk of death during famines.5

  • Starting weight: Research indicates that lean people can usually tolerate a loss of up to 18% of their body mass and will become weak after 30 to 50 days without food. Death usually occurs between 43 and 70 days. By contrast, people who are obese may be able to tolerate more than 20% body mass loss. These timeframes are likely long for them as well.1

  • Water intake: Generally speaking, people can survive for longer without food if they drink plenty of water.
...

How long human beings can go without food is an open question. Estimates indicate that starving people become weak in 30 to 50 days and die in 43 to 70 days.

Individual factors including sex, age, starting weight, and water intake all play a role in how long someone can live without food. '

Famine deaths are first gradual and then rapidly increase.
