Soccer

Villa won the Europa League, their first major trophy since they won the same one (then called the UEFA Cup) back in 1982.

Meanwhile the Southampton spy-gate saga drags on. Hull who will now face Middlesbrough in the final claim they should be promoted automatically because their opponents, Southampton, cheated. They'll take legal action if they don't win.

Wrexham who finished 7th say they're looking at legal action because they missed out on the playoffs. Millwall are looking at legal action because......well who knows. And to top it all off the Southampton players are looking at suing their own club for them missing out on the chance to be Premier league players!

Small Correction ~ Villa actually won the European Cup in 1982, after winning the First Division the previous year ~ Only League winning teams entered the European Cup (Club) in those days.

A big oversight on my behalf Sir. I always thought it was "just" the UEFA they won. Wow didn't know that!

Here's the dude that caused all the bother now engulfing the Championship.

Interesting statistic from when Villa won the league

" Aston Villa used only 14 different players to win the league title during the 1980/81 season; equalling the previous record set by Liverpool during the 1964/65 season "

Its mad how few injuries they used to pick up back then especially with the quagmires they used to play in.

Actually now that I think about it, this isn't Villa's first major trophy since '82. I remember them winning the League Cup in the mid-90's with all those Irish players on the team. I think they beat United 3-1.

Including the late Eamonn Deacy who wrote to Villa 12 times looking for a trial and ended up with League and European Cup winners medals

First they said fans wouldn't be allowed bring their own water into World Cup stadiums and instead would have to buy it inside the ground.

Now check out the prices for a beer at the England/New Zealand friendly. $16.75 - $18.00

And I thought Irish beer prices were bad!

This is a World Cup, to be boycotted on the grounds of financially exploiting fans alone !

And I mean, it should be boycotted even by TV viewers as well.

I don't have anything like the interest that I once had in soccer anyway ! ! !

Speaking of exploitation, have you seen the prices for the NBA finals match between New York and San Antonio in Madison Square Garden tonight? The average price of a ticket is over $7,000.

To watch a sport that you could not imagine ( even at your peak age and fitness ) even having a chance at, unless you were 6 foot 4 inches !

Basket-ball is not a bad game to play, but I don't get anything from watching it.

Unusually, I actually played a wee bit of Volley-ball when I was in secondary school ~ It was a good game, if you and your team mates ( and opposition ) got to a level where you could keep a point going for a decent amount of time.

I enjoyed playing it in school, but only got in to watching it recently. It's actually very entertaining, far more so than soccer. What I like about it is that it utilises a stop clock, so that a team has to attempt to score within 24 seconds. If they don't the other team gets possession of the ball. It makes for a very free flowing, attacking game with lots of scores.

When the Grab All Association were rejigging the rules of football, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce a stop clock (maybe a minute or so), which would encourage teams to attempt to score. How many times have we seen games - my team, Dublin, being prime culprits- were the players aimlessly pass the ball around in the hopes of running down the clock?

I don't actually mind the Women's Soccer ( so long as they don't allow Men to play against Women )

And People do understand the differences in ability between Men and Women.

As a Soccer follower for more that 50 years I would reckon that a top Mens Team could score a goal every minute and a half ( maybe even every minute ) against a top Women's team if they were playing for their, Children's / Families, lives, just to give an outrageous situation.

Anyway this " friendly " between Brazil and America seems to have been event-full to say the least ! ! !

" USA manager Emma Hayes said "it was an experience I will never forget" after eight red cards were shown to Brazil players and staff in a chaotic, bad-tempered friendly in Fortaleza on Tuesday. "

Below is only some of the " shenanigans ! ! !

That's the most entertaining women's match I've ever watched.

$7,000 to watch 5 black guys v 5 black guys play hoop... I suppose the $7,000 is the danger money element, in case the players decide to get stabbie over a disrespet incident and attack the progressive whitey crowd?

I wonder are the English soccer team still taking the "knee"? I mean if they have stopped, does that mean that racisim is dead 🤔 please England, take the knee and give us a laugh...

I am sure that they will take Knee ( against, and hopefully not in favour of ) Anti-White Racism ;) :ROFLMAO:

If they actually had an ounce of Decency ~ They would now take the knee for Henry Nowak !

Apparently this is Wes Hoolahan's brother ! ! !

It seems he has been connected to serious crime for along time.

They are inclined to suddenly cancel your pension in that line of " Work ! "
