Villa won the Europa League, their first major trophy since they won the same one (then called the UEFA Cup) back in 1982.

Meanwhile the Southampton spy-gate saga drags on. Hull who will now face Middlesbrough in the final claim they should be promoted automatically because their opponents, Southampton, cheated. They'll take legal action if they don't win.

Wrexham who finished 7th say they're looking at legal action because they missed out on the playoffs. Millwall are looking at legal action because......well who knows. And to top it all off the Southampton players are looking at suing their own club for them missing out on the chance to be Premier league players!

Small Correction ~ Villa actually won the European Cup in 1982, after winning the First Division the previous year ~ Only League winning teams entered the European Cup (Club) in those days.

A big oversight on my behalf Sir. I always thought it was "just" the UEFA they won. Wow didn't know that!

Here's the dude that caused all the bother now engulfing the Championship.

Interesting statistic from when Villa won the league

" Aston Villa used only 14 different players to win the league title during the 1980/81 season; equalling the previous record set by Liverpool during the 1964/65 season "

Its mad how few injuries they used to pick up back then especially with the quagmires they used to play in.

Actually now that I think about it, this isn't Villa's first major trophy since '82. I remember them winning the League Cup in the mid-90's with all those Irish players on the team. I think they beat United 3-1.

Including the late Eamonn Deacy who wrote to Villa 12 times looking for a trial and ended up with League and European Cup winners medals
