A certain percentage of the Shinner vote, possibly quite a substanial one, on BOTH sides of the border comes from people voting for them in order to spite their often hysterical enemies whether they be the DUP or the Sindo crowd, "West Brits", etc. If Fine Gael and the DUP really wanted to undermine the Shinner the best thing they could do would be to calm down and start saying nice things about them.

It was but Mary lou just kept hammering on that it's the bad system and bad government causing the problems ......and they want the rules based system enforced , she said the massive drop in support was due in part to people walking away from the entire system and also it's them taking it in the neck because of what the government is doing
