Was Michael Collins a British Agent?

. Major General William Richard English Murphy (W.R.E. Murphy)
  • WWI Record: Murphy was an educational inspector who joined the British Army in 1914. He rose to the exceptionally high rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the South Staffordshire Regiment and commanded a battalion on the Western Front and in Italy, winning both the Military Cross and the DSO.
  • National Army Role: Murphy was arguably the most highly qualified conventional tactician available to the Free State. He was appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Kerry Command and later the Kilkenny Command.

Despite his later prominence as a Free State General, Murphy had no involvement with the IRA during the War of Independence
This thread is seriously giving me things to think about.
