I'm going to shave 20 millimetres off the face of those concrete blocks and stick thin stone slips to them with a tile adhesive/cement mix ........then patch any holes and point the whole wall with lime mortar (two week job)

No I don't plaster.....I could put on a scratch coat of sand and cement no problem but Its not my bag ......I build with lime mortar now again .....I'd say the brother does well lime plastering , it's in demand

Good. I sometimes use a 3/1 lime sand mix instead of concrete for old stone work. You don't have to sour it like long ago. You can use it as it comes. I have the supplier's details and it is only slightly dearer that Portland cement.

A very nice family used to drop out to my farm for a walk down by the river on the nice days last year and this year. Man wife an sone and daughter. I would give him a two heads of cabbage and 2 heads of lettuce now and again. He always said quietly "At least we know there were no dogs pissing on them"
