A good economy is defined by a small amount of highly educated, highly intelligent oligarchs & army elites who speculate on labour, produced mostly from agricultural produce.

These oligarchs & army elites should not be wealthy, in that they don't have a large amount of money stored digitally or through paper money, but rather they are 'wealthy' in that they speculate on & control agricultural processes.

America is probably closer to this ideal than Europe, & Europe closer to it than Russia & China.

We should probably become more American.

Or an area just declaring independence like a suburb of Paris. Who knows, but I certainly think that before July is out, we will see some excitement.

Italy was always running out of money, the Euro gave it some stability, but maybe even that magic is running out now.

That essay still holds as an article of faith that decarbonisation is required, it is not. It sidesteps completely the accusaction that global warming is a scam perpetuated by the beneficiaries of the hundreds of billions mentioned.

The real eye-opener was the imbecillic greens getting the German npps shut.
Based on totally bogus arguments that the frau accepted to keep the coalition from collapsed .
If the NPPs were all operating this would actually have pushed German decolonisation to 70%.
But the greens and the Frau fucked that up!

All the green talk is of energy transition as we swap from fossil fuels to renewables, but overall energy consumption is rising as quickly as renewables come on stream, so there is no transition, only addition, and much of that increased demand comes from IT and computing.

Perhaps this should be in the AI thread but I have seen one estimate of AI consuming 80% of electricty generated by 2035 (I think it was). That to could be total bollox, but you're right, data centres need talking about when it comes to energy demand.

At stage it must be clear to all but the dumbest of sheep that this economic war is on us, that it means to destroy the West as we know it, but Europe in particular.
Things could be so easy - ask the Russians nicely for their gas and oil, rebuild the npps, stop all welfare to anyone arrived in the last 15 years.
But no - like lemmings we persist on pursuing our own destruction.
There should be burning barricades in every capital city and the ropemakers should be doing a brisk trade - instead we get more barbers and shisha bars.
It is truly demoralising.

Yep, as has been pointed out before, the Americans have elected a businessman not a politician, and now it's beginning to show. Ursula and co are totally out of their depth.

Have a feeling that the Turnberry agreement will come to be seen as a landmark moment in the decline and (hopefully) dissolution of the EU, it tried to act as an empire but simply didn't have the the cohesion, power or brains.
