The footage of universal forces for the first hour seems laughable, very unconvincing and a bit ridiculous to take too seriously.

I just tried to watch it again but find it funny and a bit spoofy in how it's produced.
It's the presenting style which is a bit ridiculous more than the science it refers to.

First thing one notices are the groaning freaky sound effects coupled with 'wtf'-space graphics which plunketts ghost could quite justly slag-off.
secondly, the narrator is untrustworthy and his version of events is unreliable - seemingly spoofy based on asserted nonsense - Plus lots and lots of space cadet theory based on their own imagined trips by the sound of it.

It's like red dwarf got blended with open university bbc2 science - creighton's on the ketamine!!
