I've come to the conclusion that engineering is the only real demonstration of science.
Either it's working or breaking.
When I watched the Apollo 17 documentary I posted above I was reminded of this from the movie Apollo 13, the CO2 problem -

Cernan accidentally broke a fender on the lunar rover and when the repair on the Moon didn't work, overnight Houston (using knowledge of the inventory) devised this.. Not quite as dramatic but reminiscent nonetheless :)

In Sept 2024, it was scheduled to do a crewed fly by and around the moon. It is postponed many times and the date now is April 2026. That remains to be seen

Wild how we keep getting all this high quality 'Mars' footage, but we can't seem to land on the moon successfully any more and the footage is always garbage. :unsure:
