Amazing! Not a flake of snow last night up here in the cold N.West. Apparently the polar winds swerved out to sea and circled down around to the south before swirling north easterly to hit Galway and Cork.

Quite unusual:unsure: ☺️

You have to love the reports this morning about vehicles sliding off the road.

I was out at 4am this morning, did a 3 hour drive, it was bad but as long as you take it slow and steady you can get from A to B.

But swerving vehicles are so so exciting for the little minds down at RTE.

But why is it considered unusual?

Because it is. We're far more northern than ye in the south (which was roasting a few days ago while we were freezing) but yet despite snow originating from beyond north we're warmer dryer and virtually snow free unlike the warmest part of Ireland that Michelle cares about . . .

Did it happen in 1824, or maybe 1726, or any years between, before or after?

Perhaps, given benefit of the doubt let's agree to say 'it did'.
Meanwhile, weather marches on!!
Tomorrow we're getting battered by Storm Bertie, the aftermath, when it passes will leave Kerry, Cork and much of the country basking in 13-14C at 12:00 Midnight:cool: which is a curious sight to see/feel shifting within a few days.
Perhaps not so unusual, ok, but it's worth following to see how future swings develop this winter, after all, the season's just begun :geek:

Yep, all that snow in cork kerry & galway has vanished in current temps of 14C at 08:00.
Perhaps Sun & higher temps later this winters day (after the storm that wasn't) 🤪

You're obsessed Love.
No, I'm interested in weather. Obsessed by other things, yes. Most folk are these days . . .

Global Warming = = Religion for Some !
Very true, that'd be the Green party.

" You Must Believe "
We must believe in something. There's also Global Dimming & Global Cooling to believe in, begorrah we can choose!:D

So that you give the Globalists most of your Money for their Belief in Money !
Somebody's got to pay for the tech & expertise;), many folk don't appear to mind.😵

Obviously She should have known that Cork + River + Bakery + Irish economy was a risky venture but she's learning the lessons now. Will the authorities??

The Flour House bakery in Riverstick flooded again this morning during the downpour brought on by Storm Bert, having been badly damaged by Storm Babet in 2023. . .

. . . It took just an hour for her bakery, which employs four full time and four part time staff, to be flooded.
“We did as much as we could to prepare but we just didn’t expect the river to breach the walls,” she said.

“It was at such a low level earlier, much lower than it was before Storm Babet struck.
“So, although we did take precautions by doing things like taking fridges and ovens off the floor, and keeping them at a raised level, we just didn’t expect the damage we got.”

She said small businesses are already struggling because of rising costs such as the 13.5% VAT rate and staff pay.
"Every day counts. You can't miss a day's trade. I think that's what's going to really hurt us. Every single piece of coinage is required to get us through."

Ireland's response to planting is a bit like Ireland's response to new builds on a flood plain

When what's required is selective building, to avoid disappointment.

I asked you before about the filth and water rats that your idea would entail.

Could you answer me once again Mr Love?

The power of the brown envelope, never underestimate it.

If only Professor could just come ~ ~ To Terms With Weather ~ ~
Terms? The threads got plenty.

Where's the term for the observed occasional annual 'Flip/Flop' of seasonal temperatures/precipitation?

We must determine if above average winter temps are related to cool summer temps which are becoming the long-term norm(climate change).
Being a weather Normie like Myles, doesn't help much😌

Irish Weather is Change-able.

Irish Weather is Change-able.
Good!! It's way over due for a cracking scorcher change of a hot summer to look forward too.

The US and Spain just had changeable (more record breakers) showers over a couple of days which killed hundreds of their people, much death and full destruction of towns from rain drops, amazing how it works, eh? :geek:

Just noticed @11:00 the IT indicates 15C in Dublin, 14C in other parts, a warm winter temp but what makes it remarkable is that the temps are forecast to remain the same into the night.

As previously noted - Winter nights are now warmer than Summer afternoons 🤪

June, July & August had the central heating on but not tonight, it's winter🙃

Well well, it's a 'red warning' massive storm night originating from the NW & SW Atlantic combined.
Despite the wind & rain, one must be glad of having evening and night temperatures comparable with some evenings in June and july and just a few degrees cooler than most through Summer but it's just 3 weeks before Christmas.
Not much CH on this evening😁

RED WARNING WINDS are battering the town now, streetlights and part of central town is in blackness(powercut off)
The House has started it's lights flickering, it too was cut off last storm, have the torches and candles ready.
The Sea's going to have 20ft waves in the morning🥳

Anyways , across the roadways there's fallen trees (nearly smashed into one in the dark) and a massive scaffold had collapsed across a main road in town.
The radio says 350,000 homes are without power.

Well that was a blustery night, hearing it's done a lot of damage in places.
