About two inches of white soggy global warming covering the ground this morning.

Amazing! Not a flake of snow last night up here in the cold N.West. Apparently the polar winds swerved out to sea and circled down around to the south before swirling north easterly to hit Galway and Cork.

I was out at 4am this morning, did a 3 hour drive, it was bad but as long as you take it slow and steady you can get from A to B.

Because it is. We're far more northern than ye in the south (which was roasting a few days ago while we were freezing) but yet despite snow originating from beyond north we're warmer dryer and virtually snow free unlike the warmest part of Ireland that Michelle cares about . . .

Meanwhile, weather marches on!!
Tomorrow we're getting battered by Storm Bertie, the aftermath, when it passes will leave Kerry, Cork and much of the country basking in 13-14C at 12:00 Midnight which is a curious sight to see/feel shifting within a few days.
Perhaps not so unusual, ok, but it's worth following to see how future swings develop this winter, after all, the season's just begun

Yep, all that snow in cork kerry & galway has vanished in current temps of 14C at 08:00.
Perhaps Sun & higher temps later this winters day (after the storm that wasn't)

The Flour House bakery in Riverstick flooded again this morning during the downpour brought on by Storm Bert, having been badly damaged by Storm Babet in 2023. . .

. . . It took just an hour for her bakery, which employs four full time and four part time staff, to be flooded.
“We did as much as we could to prepare but we just didn’t expect the river to breach the walls,” she said.

“It was at such a low level earlier, much lower than it was before Storm Babet struck.
“So, although we did take precautions by doing things like taking fridges and ovens off the floor, and keeping them at a raised level, we just didn’t expect the damage we got.”

She said small businesses are already struggling because of rising costs such as the 13.5% VAT rate and staff pay.
"Every day counts. You can't miss a day's trade. I think that's what's going to really hurt us. Every single piece of coinage is required to get us through."

Good!! It's way over due for a cracking scorcher change of a hot summer to look forward too.

The US and Spain just had changeable (more record breakers) showers over a couple of days which killed hundreds of their people, much death and full destruction of towns from rain drops, amazing how it works, eh?

Just noticed @11:00 the IT indicates 15C in Dublin, 14C in other parts, a warm winter temp but what makes it remarkable is that the temps are forecast to remain the same into the night.

As previously noted - Winter nights are now warmer than Summer afternoons

June, July & August had the central heating on but not tonight, it's winter

Well well, it's a 'red warning' massive storm night originating from the NW & SW Atlantic combined.
Despite the wind & rain, one must be glad of having evening and night temperatures comparable with some evenings in June and july and just a few degrees cooler than most through Summer but it's just 3 weeks before Christmas.

Anyways , across the roadways there's fallen trees (nearly smashed into one in the dark) and a massive scaffold had collapsed across a main road in town.
The radio says 350,000 homes are without power.
